Book excerpt: Il s’agissait de mesurer l’usage actuel et passé des différents moyens de contraception et le niveau de satisfaction des femmes vis-à-vis de leur mode de contraception ; analyser l’utilisation des nouveaux moyens de contraception comme l’implant, le patch et l’anneau vaginal. Une enquête a été réalisée par envoi postal de 10.000 questionnaires auto-administrés auprès d’un échantillon représentatif des françaises de 15 à 45 ans en juin 2007. L’analyse porte sur les 5963 questionnaires renvoyés et exploitables. 73% des femmes de l’étude utilisaient un moyen de contraception dont 46% la pilule ; Moins de 3% des femmes utilisaient un nouveau moyen de contraception. L’âge moyen du premier rapport comme l’âge d’utilisation du premier moyen de contraception tendait à diminuer : il était de 18,5 ans chez les 40-45 ans et diminuait graduellement pour s’établir à 16,7 ans chez les 19-25 ans. 21% des grossesses demeuraient non planifiées et seulement 9% de ces grossesses survenaient en l’absence de contraception. 96% des femmes considéraient le choix d’une contraception comme important mais seulement 63% d’entre elles se considéraient comme bien informées lors de sa première utilisation. Pour 98% et 94% des femmes respectivement un contraceptif devait être pratique à utiliser et peu contraignant. La contraception s’est largement diffusée au sein de la population française mais 14% des grossesses restent liées à un oubli ou échec du contraceptif. I l semble donc y avoir une place pour les nouveaux moyens de contraception, qui correspondent aux attentes des femmes même si leur diffusion reste encore limitée.
