Book The Science of Rondo

Download or read book The Science of Rondo written by Marcus A. Dibernardo and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-02-04 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rondos develop a player's speed of thought, speed of play, individual and collective ball retention capabilities, footwork, agility, soccer problem solving skills, team work and ability to create a rhythm or tempo of play. These are essential and critical skills in the game of soccer. Watch a full 11v11 game and see how many touches each player gets. Research indicates players will touch the ball 20-40 times in the course of a 90 minute game. Rondo can increase a player's skill level quickly because they are put in realistic game-like situations over and over again in a small time frame. A player can touch the ball twenty to forty times in a 5 minute period playing rondo. The touches in rondo are meaning full touches as well; they require players to find solutions to high pressure defending situations that are game related and virtually non-stop. “The Science of Rondo” is the ultimate book for coaches who want their teams to develop by using rondo training. The book includes my personal rondo-training curriculum that I use with my team. It contains rondo variations, progressions and transitions. I show you how to combine rondos with passing patterns, fitness exercises and game related possession drills. If you want to understand rondo and rondo training methods, than this book is for you. Enjoy.

Book The De Gruyter Handbook of Automated Futures

Download or read book The De Gruyter Handbook of Automated Futures written by Vaike Fors and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-09-23 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does automation affect us, our environment, and our imaginations? What actions should we take in response to automation? Beyond grand narratives and technology-driven visions of the future, what more can automation offer? With these questions in mind, The De Gruyter Handbook of Automated Futures provides a framework for thinking about and implementing automation differently. It consolidates automated futures as an inter- and transdisciplinary research field, embedding the imaginaries, interactions, and impacts of automation technology within their social, historical, societal, cultural, and political contexts. Promoting a critical yet constructive and engaging agenda, the handbook invites readers to collaborate with rather than resist automation agendas. It does so by pushing the agenda for social science, humanities and design beyond merely assessing and evaluating existing technologies. Instead, the handbook demonstrates how the humanities and social sciences are essential to the design and governance of sustainable sociotechnical systems. Methodologically, the handbook is underpinned by a pedagogical approach to staging co-learning and co-creation of automated futures with, rather than simply for, people. In this way, the handbook encourages readers to explore new and alternative modes of research, fostering a deeper engagement with the evolving landscape of automation.

Book Decolonizing Science in Latin American Art

Download or read book Decolonizing Science in Latin American Art written by Joanna Page and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2021-04-15 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Projects that bring the ‘hard’ sciences into art are increasingly being exhibited in galleries and museums across the world. In a surge of publications on the subject, few focus on regions beyond Europe and the Anglophone world. Decolonizing Science in Latin American Art assembles a new corpus of art-science projects by Latin American artists, ranging from big-budget collaborations with NASA and MIT to homegrown experiments in artists’ kitchens. While they draw on recent scientific research, these art projects also ‘decolonize’ science. If increasing knowledge of the natural world has often gone hand-in-hand with our objectification and exploitation of it, the artists studied here emphasize the subjectivity and intelligence of other species, staging new forms of collaboration and co-creativity beyond the human. They design technologies that work with organic processes to promote the health of ecosystems, and seek alternatives to the logics of extractivism and monoculture farming that have caused extensive ecological damage in Latin America. They develop do-it-yourself, open-source, commons-based practices for sharing creative and intellectual property. They establish critical dialogues between Western science and indigenous thought, reconnecting a disembedded, abstracted form of knowledge with the cultural, social, spiritual, and ethical spheres of experience from which it has often been excluded. Decolonizing Science in Latin American Art interrogates how artistic practices may communicate, extend, supplement, and challenge scientific ideas. At the same time, it explores broader questions in the field of art, including the relationship between knowledge, care, and curation; nonhuman agency; art and utility; and changing approaches to participation. It also highlights important contributions by Latin American thinkers to themes of global significance, including the Anthropocene, climate change and environmental justice.

Book Educational Administration in a Pluralistic Society

Download or read book Educational Administration in a Pluralistic Society written by Colleen A. Capper and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1993-07-01 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this bold, provocative supplemental text for the field of educational administration, Colleen Capper and contributors challenge administrators, policymakers, practitioners, and communities to confront the realities of schools and students in a pluralistic society. The book examines recent educational initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of students and staff from traditionally underrepresented groups, marginalized on the basis of race, language, gender, sexual orientation, social class, or disability. Each chapter critically reviews the literature and research to probe the current characteristics of a nondominant group, including such information as its demographic characteristics, its role in school reform, its representation in organizational theory and behavior, its presence within curriculum and instruction, and its relationship with the school-as-community. Capper argues for the adoption of a multiparadigmatic framework from which to approach educational leadership for today's schools.
