Book La ceramica altomedievale in Italia Atti del V Congresso di Archeologia Medievale Roma CNR 26 27 novembre 2001

Download or read book La ceramica altomedievale in Italia Atti del V Congresso di Archeologia Medievale Roma CNR 26 27 novembre 2001 written by Stella Uggeri Patitucci and published by All’Insegna del Giglio. This book was released on 2004-12-07 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Aghlabids and their Neighbors

Download or read book The Aghlabids and their Neighbors written by Glaire D. Anderson and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-11-06 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first dynasty to mint gold dinars outside of the Abbasid heartlands, the Aghlabid (r. 800-909) reign in North Africa has largely been neglected in the scholarship of recent decades, despite the canonical status of its monuments and artworks in early Islamic art history. The Aghlabids and their Neighbors focuses new attention on this key dynasty. The essays in this volume, produced by an international group of specialists in history, art and architectural history, archaeology, and numismatics, illuminate the Aghlabid dynasty’s interactions with neighbors in the western Mediterranean and its rivals and allies elsewhere, providing a state of the question on early medieval North Africa and revealing the centrality of the dynasty and the region to global economic and political networks. Book Butrint 6 Excavations on the Vrina Plain Volume 3

Download or read book Butrint 6 Excavations on the Vrina Plain Volume 3 written by Paul Reynolds and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2019-12-19 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Butrint 6 describes the excavations carried out on the Vrina Plain by the Butrint Foundation from 2002–2007. Lying just to the south of the ancient port city of Butrint, these excavations have revealed a 1,300 year long story of a changing community that began in the 1st century AD, one which not only played its part in shaping the city of Butrint but also in how the city interacted and at times reacted to the changing political, economic and cultural situations occurring across the Mediterranean World over this period. Volume III discusses the Roman and Late Antique pottery from the Vrina Plain excavations. This detailed study of the ceramics follows the archaeological sequence recovered from the excavations in chronological order and provides a comprehensive and in depth review of the pottery, context by context, offering an important insight into the supply, as well as typology, of local and imported pottery available to the inhabitants of the Vrina Plain during this period. This is followed by a discussion on how the pottery trends found on the Vrina Plain relate to that of other sites in Butrint, both within the town (Triconch Palace; the Forum) and outside (Vrina Plain training school villa excavations; the villa of Diaporit). The volume also presents an overview of some of the principal typological developments found across Butrint so as to allow the reader to place the Vrina finds in context, including a discussion of a number of key contexts from the Forum, as well as the findings from thin-section petrology of some of the ceramics.

Book Atti del IX Congresso Internazionale sulla Ceramica Medievale nel Mediterraneo

Download or read book Atti del IX Congresso Internazionale sulla Ceramica Medievale nel Mediterraneo written by Sauro Gelichi and published by All’Insegna del Giglio. This book was released on 2012-09-07 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Mappa Pisa in the Middle Ages

Download or read book Mappa Pisa in the Middle Ages written by Gabriele Gattiglia and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the third edition of a work cycle that started in 2006 for my PhD thesis. The thesis was presented in 2010 (first edition, Gattiglia 2010), partially published as a summary monograph in 2011 (second edition, Gattiglia 2011) or in articles (Gattiglia 2012, Gattiglia 2012a, Gattiglia 2011a), and now (third edition) takes the form of a more comprehensive publication in the light of new data. Over the past two years, the work study on Pisa, not only relating to the Middle Ages, continued within the MAPPA (Metodologie Applicate alla Predittività del Potenziale – Methodologies Applied to Archaeological Potential Predictivity) project, allowing a widespread collection of data thanks to which it was possible to explain more fully the hydro-geological, geomorphological and topographic context and to check (and in many cases change) part of the assumptions made.
