Book Nacionalismo vasco

Download or read book Nacionalismo vasco written by Manuel Zamorano Gallego and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Political Exile in the Global Twentieth Century

Download or read book Political Exile in the Global Twentieth Century written by Wolfram Kaiser and published by Leuven University Press. This book was released on 2021-12-10 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the political exile of Catholic Christian Democrats during the global twentieth century, from the end of the First World War to the end of the Cold War. Transcending the common national approach, the present volume puts transnational perspectives at center stage and in doing so aspires to be a genuinely global and longitudinal study. Political Exile in the Global Twentieth Century includes chapters on continental European exile in the United Kingdom and North America through 1945; on Spanish exile following the Civil War (1936–39), throughout the Franco dictatorship; on East-Central European exile from the defeat of Nazi Germany and the establishment of Communist rule (1944–48) through the end of the Cold War; and Latin American exile following the 1973 Chilean coup. Encompassing Europe (both East and West), Latin America, and the United States, Political Exile in the Global Twentieth Century places the diasporas of twentieth-century Christian Democracy within broader, global debates on political exile and migration.

  • Publisher : University of Chicago Press
  • Release : 2004
  • ISBN : 9780226896533
  • Pages : 412 pages

Download or read book The Making of Terrorism written by Michel Wieviorka and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised and reissued in light of recent events, this classic and now increasingly important book is an exception in the literature on terrorism. Based on complex observations of actual movement participants, Wieviorka's book addresses a broad spectrum of terrorist activity—from Italian left-wing terrorists to Basque nationalist groups to the international terrorism of Palestine and the Middle East. The result is an incisive analysis of what terrorists believe and what they hope to achieve through their actions. For this new edition, Wieviorka adds new material that remaps the state of terrorism after the events of 2001.

Book ETA and Basque Nationalism RLE Terrorism Insurgency

Download or read book ETA and Basque Nationalism RLE Terrorism Insurgency written by John L. Sullivan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-04-17 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the formation of ETA (Euskadi ta Askatasuna) and the tensions created by its combination and aims: socialism and Basque nationalism. The Basque Nationalist movement emerged in the late nineteenth century as a response to the rapid transformation of Basque society by industrialisation. The influx of Spanish-speaking workers to Basque territories seemed to threaten the stability of basque society. Gradually the immigrants became absorbed into the radical struggle, with the creation of illegal trade unions and the need to resist the Franco regimne by whatever means. Over the next half century Basque consicousness developed until the radical nationalist organisation ETA was formed in 1959.
