Download or read book L vangile de la Famille de Dieu D o pourquoi vers quoi written by Daniel Vallat and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-04-03 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book La Vie d Etienne le Jeune par tienne le Diacre written by Marie-France Auzépy and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Life of Stephen the Younger is one of the rare sources for Byzantium in the ’Dark Ages’ and one of the key witnesses to the history of Iconoclasm. This book presents a new edition of the text, together with a French translation and commentary, and an important introduction. Stephen was a hermit, killed in 765 at the order of the emperor Constantine V; his Life was written in 809, some forty years after the 7th Ecumenical Council, Nicaea II, at which Orthodoxy was affirmed. Professor Auzépy shows how the Life reflects the politics of the era, both those of the patriarchate on which the author depended, and of the female monastery near which Stephen had lived, and transforms the probable victim of a failed political plot into a Christ-like figure martyred by a diabolic emperor.

Download or read book Histoire Soci t et tudes Islamiques Au 21e Si cle written by Vincent Legrand and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-08-05 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: Scott Hahn has the rare ability to explain the essential teachings of Catholicism in a totally accessible manner. Rather than burdening the reader with difficult or arcane references and arguments, he writes of familiar feelings and situations and allows the theology to unfold naturally. In First Comes Love, Hahn turns his attention to the search for a sense of belonging, revealing the intimate connection between the families men and women create on earth and the divine family, the Holy Trinity. Delving into the Gospels, Hahn shows that family terminology--words like brother, sister, mother, father, and home--dominates Jesus' speech and the writings of His first followers, and that these very words illuminate Christianity's central ideas. As he explores the fatherhood of God, the marriage of the Church to Christ, and the all-enveloping role of the Holy Spirit, Hahn deepens readers' understanding of the sacraments, teaches them how to create a family life in the image of the Trinity, and demonstrates the ways in which the analogy of the family applies to every aspect of Catholicism and its practices--from the role of "father" embodied by the ancient patriarchs and contemporary parish priests, to the comfort and guidance offered by the brothers and sisters who comprise the Communion of Saints, to the nurturing embrace of Mary, the mother of all Christians. Through real-life examples (both humorous and compassionate) and quotations drawn from the Scriptures, Hahn makes it clear that no matter what sort of family readers come from--no matter what sort of "dysfunction" they have experienced--they can find a family in the Church. Reaching out to newcomers and to lifelong Christians alike, First Comes Love is an invitation to discover a true home in the divine.

This book was released on 2016 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What sort of differentiations and what kind of articulations are there between religious authority, morality, and civil laws? This question takes place at the heart of the contemporary, its debates, its challenges, its aporias. Presented here is a broad historical record, presentations of present situations-concerning Islam, the United States, the Orthodox world, and the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights-and the theological revivals articulated Post-Vatican II. In the background are the motives of the so-called natural law, human rights, and a dialectic of the "two Reigns." The majority of this text is in French, with seven essays in English.
