Book IL GRANDE NIDO che ha dato ORIGINE al BIG BANG DEI BUCHI NERI DI STEPHEN HAWKING

Download or read book IL GRANDE NIDO che ha dato ORIGINE al BIG BANG DEI BUCHI NERI DI STEPHEN HAWKING written by William Moreira and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-02-14 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • Author : Emanuela Calura
  • Publisher : Aletti Editore
  • Release : 2024-04-03
  • ISBN : 8859189276
  • Pages : 61 pages

Download or read book La Banda del Pontino written by Emanuela Calura and published by Aletti Editore. This book was released on 2024-04-03 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In this short story by Emanuela Calura fog seems to be everywhere wrapping people, objects and places, changing perspectives on life as well as people’s line of sight. In spite of this cloaking fog so typical of Ferrara’s plain suburbs, people learn how to look beyond and concoct a life so far away from the experiences they go through in their town. [...] Starting from this need to go beyond, six friends meet after many years and plan to go from Pontelagoscuro to Il Pontino by boat. Fog is much more than a symbol, it is an everchanging condition which stimulates the need for a change, it is thought-provoking and it helps their memory to go back to the childhood they had spent together in those places.

Book La Dottrina segreta dei Rosacroce

Download or read book La Dottrina segreta dei Rosacroce written by Magus Incognito and published by Venexia Editrice. This book was released on 2013-06-14 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Bringing the Nation Back In

Download or read book Bringing the Nation Back In written by Mark Luccarelli and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2020-03-01 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing the Nation Back In takes as its starting point a series of developments that shaped politics in the United States and Europe over the past thirty years: the end of the Cold War, the rise of financial and economic globalization, the creation of the European Union, and the development of the postnational. This book contends we are now witnessing a break with the post-1945 world order and with modern politics. Two competing ideas have arisen—global cosmopolitanism and populist nationalism. Contributors argue this polarization of social ethos between cosmopolitanism and nationalism is a sign of a deeper political crisis, which they explore from different perspectives. Rather than taking sides, the aim is to diagnose the origins of the current impasse and to "bring the nation back in" by expanding what we mean by "nation" and national identity and by respecting the localizing processes that have led to national traditions and struggles.

Book Socrates or on Human Knowledge

Download or read book Socrates or on Human Knowledge written by Simone Luzzatto and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-08-19 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Socrates, Or On Human Knowledge, published in Venice in 1651, is the only work written by a Jew that contains so far the promise of a genuinely sceptical investigation into the validity of human certainties. Simone Luzzatto masterly developed this book as a pièce of theatre where Socrates, as main actor, has the task to demonstrate the limits and weaknesses of the human capacity to acquire knowledge without being guided by revelation. He achieved this goal by offering an overview of the various and contradictory gnosiological opinions disseminated since ancient times: the divergence of views, to which he addressed the most attention, prevented him from giving a fixed definition of the nature of the cognitive process. This obliged him to come to the audacious conclusion of neither affirming nor denying anything concerning human knowledge, and finally of suspending his judgement altogether. This work unfortunately had little success in Luzzatto’s lifetime, and was subsequently almost forgotten. The absence of substantial evidence from his contemporaries and that of his epistolary have thus increased the difficulty of tracing not only its legacy in the history of philosophical though, but also of understanding the circumstances surrounding the writing of his Socrates. The present edition will be a preliminary study aiming to shed some light on the philosophical and historical value of this work’s translation, indeed it will provide a broader readership with the opportunity to access this immensely complicated work and also to grasp some aspects of the composite intellectual framework and admirable modernity of Venetian Jewish culture in the ghetto.

Book The Eloquence of Ghosts

    Book Details:
  • Author : Florian Mussgnug
  • Publisher : Peter Lang
  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN : 9783039118359
  • Pages : 264 pages

Download or read book The Eloquence of Ghosts written by Florian Mussgnug and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Giorgio Manganelli (1922-1990), one of Italy's most radical and original writers, went further than most in exploring the creative possibilities of hybrid genres and open forms. Ostentation, theatricality, and a love of drapery and verbal excess are defining features of his body of work, which ranges from prose fiction, literary criticism, and drama to travel writing, treatises, commentaries, and imaginary interviews. This study examines the wealth of Manganelli's imagination - his grotesque animals, speaking corpses, and melancholy spectres - and argues that his spectacular eloquence was shaped by an exceptional awareness of literary and philosophical models. Following Manganelli's lead, the author addresses issues such as the boundaries of meaningful language, the relationship between literary and visual texts, fantasy and realism, and the power of literature to express the apprehensions and intimations of human consciousness.
