Book Italian National Forest Inventory Methods and Results of the Third Survey

Download or read book Italian National Forest Inventory Methods and Results of the Third Survey written by Patrizia Gasparini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-29 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book deals with the methods and the results of the third Italian national forest inventory (INFC2015). Arma dei Carabinieri is entrusted with the realisation of the National Forest Inventory and with the decisions about the aims of the survey and data treatment. National forest inventories produce statistically based information on forests over country areas. Such information is used either at subnational or at supranational level in a great number of spheres and processes, included possibility to depict the status of the world forests. Italy conducted its first forest inventory in 1985 and in 2001 a permanent national forest inventory was launched to have periodically updated statistics. Due to the growing concern about the environment and especially the climate change, estimating forests carbon pools was a stated main objective and it was accordingly named Italian National Inventory of Forest and Forest Carbon Pools (INFC). The book begins with a description of the general organisation, the definitions, the methods and the estimation procedures. It proceeds showing the main estimates produced by INFC2015, in tables that are given in the book chapters. The estimates are presented through texts that introduce the subject matter, explain the way the related variables were surveyed and comment on the main outcomes with the help of graphics. The estimates presented include forest area, management and production, biodiversity and protection, forest health, protective and socio-economics functions. Role of forest in the carbon balance was analysed in a specific Chapter, as this is important for its role in the climate change mitigation. The book ends providing an understanding of the current dynamics of Italian forests by comparing the estimates obtained from INFC2005 and INFC2015, the last two national surveys.

Book La biodiversit percorsi naturalistici e didattici

Download or read book La biodiversit percorsi naturalistici e didattici written by Adriano Sofo and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-12-03 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Multicriteria Analysis and LCA Techniques

Download or read book Multicriteria Analysis and LCA Techniques written by Lucia Recchia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-03 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multicriteria Analysis and LCA Techniques introduces the reader to the basic principles of multicriteria analysis (MCA) and life cycle assessment (LCA) techniques. The use of these tools is rapidly becoming essential in any feasibility study for comparing different solutions, selecting the most suitable ones, and for analyzing the interface of economy and environment. The main feature of Multicriteria Analysis and LCA Techniques is the application of a new approach to the analysis of energy balance and environmental impact of agro-industrial production chains. It gives detailed descriptions of a number of food and non-food agro-industrial applications of MCA and LCA, thereby providing the reader with practical examples of the implementation of these tools in the field of agro-industry. Multicriteria Analysis and LCA Techniques represents a subsidiary reference book for both undergraduate and graduate students, and can also be used for basic or applied academic research.

Book Climate change Mitigation and European Land use Policies

Download or read book Climate change Mitigation and European Land use Policies written by W. Neil Adger and published by Cabi. This book was released on 1997 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The UN Convention on Climate Change requires countries to reduce their polluting greenhouse gas emissions from all sources including agriculture, forestry and land use. Emissions associated with land use are inherent in modern farming and forestry practices, with the commitments under the Convention representing a clear challenge to restructuring of Europe's agriculture and forestry policies. This book primarily considers the actions of Europe and other regions in reducing land use related greenhouse gas fluxes, while recognising that the array of economic and political pressures for CAP reform and sustainable land use are fundamentally intertwined. The book is aimed at practitioners, academics and policy makers in the field of agriculture and forestry who wish to understand the importance of the global emissions issue for European and global land use. Individual contributors, from 10 countries, consider greenhouse gas emissions at the sub-national, national, EU and global scales. Efficiency, equity and implications of policy in this area are the primary focus of the volume.
