Download or read book Fournir des manuels scolaires tous les enfants d Afrique subsaharienne written by Birger Fredriksen and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2015-07-20 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The African Geopolitical ATLAS 2020

Download or read book The African Geopolitical ATLAS 2020 written by Claude Biao and published by Stake Books. This book was released on 2020-04-23 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first edition of Stake experts' African Geopolitical ATLAS aims to provide decision-makers with a snapshot of the geopolitical changes taking place on the continent during the 2018-2019 study period. It is a collection 84 geographical and thematic maps on topics ranging from African countries' military spendings, to the available croplands, or surface water covering. It's a bilingual edition (French, English). The concept is that of a collection of 30 thematic maps and 54 country monographs divided into three parts. To produce this ATLAS, the editing team focused on the decision-making value of the mapped data, i.e. their capacity to provide the essential elements for an informed decision on the chosen themes. As such, it is a public policy-oriented publication, intended to provide useful benchmarks for decision-making. More than just maps, these are 84 outlooks of Africa in 2020.

Book Peace Security and Post conflict Reconstruction in the Great Lakes Region of Africa

Download or read book Peace Security and Post conflict Reconstruction in the Great Lakes Region of Africa written by Tukumbi Lumumba-Kasongo and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2017-11-27 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Great Lakes region of Africa is characterized by protest politics, partial democratization, political illegitimacy and unstable economic growth. Many of the countries that are members of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) which are: Burundi, Angola, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia, have experienced political violence and bloodshed at one time or another. While a few states have been advancing electoral democracy, environmental protection and peaceful state building, the overall intensity of violence in the region has led to civil wars, invasion, genocide, dictatorships, political instability, and underdevelopment. Efforts to establish sustainable peace, meaningful socio-economic development and participatory democracy have not been quite successful. Using various methodologies and paradigms, this book interrogates the complexity of the causes of these conflicts; and examines their impact and implications for socio-economic development of the region. The non-consensual actions related to these conflicts and imperatives of power struggles supported by the agents of savage capitalism have paralysed efforts toward progress. The book therefore recommends new policy frameworks within regionalist lenses and neo-realist politics to bring about sustainable peace in the region.

Book Collective Mobilisations in Africa Mobilisations collectives en Afrique

Download or read book Collective Mobilisations in Africa Mobilisations collectives en Afrique written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses empirical research to bring together a broad range of protest contexts in twelve chapters. From the formation of Maroon societies in the early colonial period, to female mobilisation in authoritarian contexts, via urban youth culture, women or mineworkers in trade unionism, as well as pro- and anti- gay rights activists, the protagonists here all insist upon their rights to protest in a variety of ways. Sometimes popular protest is expressed through religion, often (and sometimes violently) by young people, exasperated by their long wait for social achievement. Electoral wars and the formation of militias reveal a geography of violence in urban areas, which, in some sectarian excesses, can be displaced to rural areas, as described in the study on Boko Haram.
