Les traumatismes subis ne peuvent être verbalisés mais les victimes expriment leur vécu dans leurs réalisations artistiques. L'art-thérapie permet de regagner une confiance en soi, une estime de soi. Il permet de retrouver une saveur existentielle et de se restaurer en tant qu'être humain dans sa dignité.

Successive groups of modernists, beginning with the Matisse and Picasso circle in the 1900s and concluding with the Surrealists and Purists in the 1920s, constructed different versions of la musique and la danse negre.
