Book excerpt: Depuis les dernières années, les concepts de traumatisme sont de plus en plus utilisés pour mieux pour comprendre les conséquences engendrées pour les enfants victimes de maltraitance. Plus précisément, le concept de traumatisme complexe, développé depuis les trente dernières années, apporte un éclairage nouveau dans la compréhension clinique de plusieurs enfants suivis dans le cadre de la Loi sur la protection de la jeunesse. Ce concept permet d'émettre l'hypothèse que pour certains de ces enfants, le risque de développer des traumatismes est très présent. Plusieurs auteurs se sont intéressés au concept théorique de traumatisme complexe et aux pratiques à privilégier auprès de ces enfants, de leur famille ainsi que des adultes qui en assument la responsabilité au quotidien. Le Centre d'expertise sur la maltraitance du CCSMTL a développé une trousse en lien avec les concepts de traumatisme. Cette trousse s'avère un outil qui permet de mieux comprendre cette réalité et propose des outils cliniques qui peuvent soutenir les professionnels qui interviennent auprès des enfants et de leur famille ou/et des adultes à qui ces enfants sont confiés. L'objectif de ce mémoire est de porter un regard sur l'application des connaissances issues de la recherche au sujet du concept de traumatisme complexe par les professionnels de la protection de la jeunesse. Avec le déploiement de cette trousse, nous nous sommes intéressés aux besoins des professionnels afin qu'ils développent une pratique plus sensible à ce concept dans leur pratique clinique. Afin de mieux cerner les processus à privilégier, nous avons également porté notre attention aux concepts reliés à l'application des connaissances et au modèle théorique de l'application des connaissances en sciences sociales, humaines, arts et lettres. Ce projet s'intéresse donc à l'application des connaissances issues de la recherche au sujet du concept de traumatisme complexe et de leur application dans la pratique clinique des professionnels de la protection de la jeunesse. Les résultats démontrent que les professionnels ont certaines connaissances tacites au sujet des traumatismes. Ils sont également en mesure de faire des liens entre la présentation d'un nouveau concept, le traumatisme complexe et leur pratique. Les moyens proposés afin de favoriser une pratique plus sensible au traumatisme sont de l'ordre d'activités de dissémination, d'activités de résolution de problème et interactive. Toutefois, malgré leur intérêt pour le développement de nouvelles pratiques, les professionnels soulignent leur besoin que l'implication professionnelle pour les différents processus reliés à l'application de nouvelles pratiques doit être reconnue au niveau de leur charge de travail.
