Book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN

Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Jacqueline Ancess describes how teachers in New York City secondary schools increase their own learning while improving student outcomes • Milbrey W. McLaughlin and Joel Zarrow demonstrate how teachers learn to use data to improve their practice and meet educational standards • Lynne Miller presents a case study of a long-lived school, university partnership • Beverly Falk recounts stories of teachers working together to develop performance assessments, to understand their student’s learning, to re-think their curriculum, and much more • Laura Stokes analyzes a school that successfully uses inquiry groups. There are further contributions (including some from novice teachers) by Anna Richert Ershler, Ann Lieberman, Diane Wood, Sarah Warshauer Freedman, and Joseph P. McDonald. These powerful exemplars from practice provide a much-needed overview of what matters and what really works in professional development today.

Book Educational Strategies for Small Island States

Download or read book Educational Strategies for Small Island States written by David Atchoarena and published by UNESCO. This book was released on 1993 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent emergence of small states on the international scene has generated renewed interest among researchers and practitioners. This booklet describes the significance, relevance, and practical implications for educational planning of insularity and small size. The empirical basis for this publication is drawn primarily from the Caribbean and South Pacific regions. Following the foreword and preface, part 1 relocates the theme of small states in a theoretical and historical perspective. It describes the characteristics common to small states that constitute both constraints to and advantages for educational planning. Part 2 analyzes the implications of small size for educational planning. It provides a statistical overview of education in small states that illustrates problems they face and the significance of context-dependent factors for these countries' educational behaviors and circumstances. The third part proposes a strategic reflection encompassing the key aspects of planning and management of education. Small size and insularity represent a double challenge to educational change. Strategic reflection is organized around several major functions: forecasting, pedagogy, administration, and cooperation. Particular attention is paid to archipelago states because of their extreme specificity. Five tables are included. (LMI)

Book Capabilities Allocation and Earnings

Download or read book Capabilities Allocation and Earnings written by Joop Hartog and published by Springer. This book was released on 1992-02-29 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. 1 INTRODUCTION The final chapter of my Personal Income Distribution, a Hulticapability Theory (Hartog, 1981a) carried as its motto: 'Oh richness of the unfinished'. It concluded a book in which labor services were decomposed into services arising from different capabilities. Individuals were supposed to command stocks of capabilities and to decide on the utilization rates of these capabilities, by balanc ing efforts and rewards. The optimal capability bundle they so defined was to be realized by picking the job that just required this bundle. To derive analytical implications on the structure of the labor market and on the distribution of labor earnings, the key assumption was made that arbitrage in capability supply was possible, i. e. , that effectively capabilities could be sold separ ately and carried a uniform unit price throughout the labor market. While many interesting analytical and empirical results followed, there was also an indication from empirical testing that an earnings function linear in capabilities could be outperformed by a non-linear func- 2 CAPABILITIES, ALLOCATION AND EARNINGS tion, and that the arbitrage assumption might be un tenable. This book attempts to harvest a little from the richness of the unfinished that was left. It returns to some of the old topics and adds some new ones, in a more general model that no longer imposes the assumption that capabilities can be treated as if they can be unbundled. It also draws on new datasets to explore the issues empirically.
