Book Analyzing Sensory Data with R

Download or read book Analyzing Sensory Data with R written by Sebastien Le and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Choose the Proper Statistical Method for Your Sensory Data Issue Analyzing Sensory Data with R gives you the foundation to analyze and interpret sensory data. The book helps you find the most appropriate statistical method to tackle your sensory data issue. Covering quantitative, qualitative, and affective approaches, the book presents the big picture of sensory evaluation. Through an integrated approach that connects the different dimensions of sensory evaluation, you’ll understand: The reasons why sensory data are collected The ways in which the data are collected and analyzed The intrinsic meaning of the data The interpretation of the data analysis results Each chapter corresponds to one main sensory topic. The chapters start with presenting the nature of the sensory evaluation and its objectives, the sensory particularities related to the sensory evaluation, details about the data set obtained, and the statistical analyses required. Using real examples, the authors then illustrate step by step how the analyses are performed in R. The chapters conclude with variants and extensions of the methods that are related to the sensory task itself, the statistical methodology, or both.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The French of Algeria, as they are commonly called today, remain a distinct yet waning subculture. Aspects of their lives continue to provide fertile ground for the media, including, most recently a widely published discussion of the use of torture and murder by French generals during the Algerian War (1955-1962). Publications continue to proliferate on all aspects and from all sides of the French Algerian experience as the time passed permits unprecedented examination of this controversial period in history from 1830 when European colonization began until today. The Pied-noirs continue to contribute to the rich multi cultural world of contemporary France but their actual experiences remain a largely taboo topic in a country, like that of the U.S. in Vietnam, hasn't fully come to terms with the scars left by colonization, settlement and ultimate defeat. This work shows the tremendous influence of Pied-noir on French local and regional elections and discusses the profound effect that the first waves of French Algerians had on the political and economic cultures of Southern France and on the civil service (particularly the gendarmarie and local administration) this group portended. Also discussed is the relationship of Algerian French to the harkis or Algerian Arab supporters of Algerie Francais. Finally the research examines the political fabric of the community and its suprising influence on both the French Left and Right.

Book Optimization based User Group Management

Download or read book Optimization based User Group Management written by Behrooz Omidvar Tehrani and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Ecclesiastical Silver Plate in Sixth century Byzantium

Download or read book Ecclesiastical Silver Plate in Sixth century Byzantium written by Susan A. Boyd and published by Dumbarton Oaks. This book was released on 1992 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty papers included in this volume were presented at an international symposium held in Baltimore and Washington in May, 1986. Planned to coincide with the exhibition of the two largest treasures of Early Byzantine church silver to survive from antiquity, the Kaper Koraon Treasure (found in Syria) and the Sion Treasure (found in Turkey), the symposium sought to place these and other church treasures in their broader contexts examining them from the point of view of economy, history, society, and manufacture. While a number of the papers focus on specific aspects of these two treasures--including six articles devoted to the Sion Treasure--others examine more general questions regarding silver mining, the manufacture of silver vessels, the state control of silver in Byzantium and the Sasanian Empire, the economic and cultural role of silver objects, and the financial power of the institutional church through its vast holdings of silver plate. The precedent offered by pagan cult treasures is also examined. To ensure a broad interdisciplinary approach, the eighteen authors are authorities in the fields of government administration, economic history, cultural history, art history, archaeology, epigraphy, science and conservation.

Book Les ailes du Sahel

    Book Details:
  • Author : Le Zwarts
  • Publisher : BRILL
  • Release : 2014-04-14
  • ISBN : 9004278125
  • Pages : 564 pages

Download or read book Les ailes du Sahel written by Le Zwarts and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-04-14 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Living on the Edge' examines the function of the Sahel region of Africa as an important wintering area for long-distance migrant birds. It describes the challenges the birds have to cope with – climate change, of course, and rapid man-made habitat changes related to deforestation, irrigation and reclamation of wetlands. How have all these changes affected the birds, and have birds adapted to these changes? Can we explain the changing numbers of breeding birds in Europe by changes in the Sahel, or vice versa? Winner of the BB/BTO Best Bird Book Award 2010 The Jury commented: "It is a tremendous book in every department. It marks a step-change in our knowledge of the ecology of this critically important region in the European-African migration system and of the many species (familiar to us on their breeding grounds) that winter there. The authors combine the latest scientific information with vivid descriptions of landscapes and animals. Their book is richly illustrated with large numbers of drawings, maps and photographs by acclaimed experts. The wealth of coloured graphics has been particularly well thought out and encourages readers to delve into the figures and learn more about the region, rather than having the (all-too-common) opposite effect. Summing up, the jury praises not just the high quality of the texts, the information and the illustrations, but also the sheer pleasure of reading the book: "One of the key attributes of a good book is to be able to grip the reader's attention and transport him or her to another place. We feel confident that [Living on the edge] will have that effect."
