Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ophelia's story in a way you've never heard it before, and seven more ways as well. Ophelia is trapped, stuck inside the machinery that has created her consciousness, fighting to be heard. Hamlet, overwhelmed by the ceaseless flood of media, mindlessly watches TV, consuming a mish-mash of beauty and horror; a daily soup of innocence and violence. The two of them hopelessly confined, and separated by the Atlantic Ocean. A polemic response to Heiner Mueller's Hamletmachine, Opheliamachine is a postmodern tale of love, sex and politics in a fragmented world of confused emotions and global, virtual sexuality. Since its premiere in 2013, Magda Romanska's celebrated experimental play has been performed and studied around the world, with each culture and language feeding into and responding to Opheliamachine's collage of modern existence. This edited collection brings together eight different translations of the play, offering English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Romanian and Polish language interpretations of Romanska's original text. Along with two introductory essays, these different versions of Opheliamachine provide academics, artists and teachers the opportunity to study a fascinating intersection of Shakespeare, translation, adaptation, feminism and avant-garde theatre.

Book Jungianeum Yearbook 2022

Download or read book Jungianeum Yearbook 2022 written by Stefano Carpani and published by Chiron Publications. This book was released on 2023-08-05 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What exactly is JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook? It is a yearbook, of course! Is it also a monograph, an almanac, a journal, and a poetry book? Indeed! JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook expands our thinking with papers and poetry informed by analytical psychology and neo-Jungian studies. Its uniqueness and importance to the Jungian community lies in the work of the individuals contributing. JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook is divided into three parts: papers, poetry, and a Rite de sortie. Many themes are conveyed in this issue (2022): the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the power of a cultural complex in Israel, the Shakespearean concept of “Time is out of joint” and Pasolini’s Oedipus Re, AIDS, death and the analyst, transgender individuation, sufferings and individuation, personal memories of the Yom Kippur War, the patient/analyst confrontation in the analytical room and the problematic behavior of the analyst, mothers and fathers, leaving, returning, devotion, new birth, the wait and the end of certainties. JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook is one of many initiatives by Jungianeum: Contemporary Initiatives for Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies. Under this umbrella, since 2022, Stefano Carpani developed a series of initiatives called: JUNGIANEUM/books, JUNGIANEUM/talks, JUNGIANEUM/ masterclasses, JUNGIANEUM/biennale and more. In summer 2022, in partnership with Chiron Publications, Carpani launched a series called JUNGIANEUM/books: Re-Covered Classics in Analytical Psychology, aimed at (re)publishing masterpieces in analytical psychology that, for different reasons, are out of the market and find difficulty in getting (re)published. As of January 2023, PSYCHOSOCIAL WEDNESDAYS were incorporated under the umbrella of JUNGIANEUM/talks. In September 2023, Pacifica Graduate Institute (CA/USA) and Jungianeum will release a PGI Graduate Certificate Course: Contemporary Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies: The Relevance of C.G. Jung to the Socio-Cultural Challenges of the 21st Century. As per Carpani’s Youtube interviews, published books, and papers, these initiatives will continue to help Jung’s psychology become visible and audible, therefore, impactful for individuals and collectives, who benefit, respectively, from Jungian therapy and theory in shaping policy and society.

Book Into the Heart of European Poetry

Download or read book Into the Heart of European Poetry written by John Taylor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Taylor's brilliant new book examines the work of many of the major poets who have deeply marked modern and contemporary European literature. Venturing far and wide from the France in which he has lived since the late 1970s, the polyglot writer-critic not only delves into the more widely translated literatures of Italy, Greece, Germany, and Austria, but also discovers impressive and overlooked work in Slovenia, Bosnia, Hungary, Finland, Norway, and the Netherlands in this book that ranges over nearly all of Europe, including Russia. While providing this stimulating and far-ranging critical panorama, Taylor brings to light key themes of European writing: the depth of everyday life, the quest of the thing-in-itself, metaphysical aspiration and anxiety, the dialectics of negativity and affirmation, subjectivity and self-effacement, and uprootedness as a category that is as ontological as it is geographical, historical, political, or cultural. The book pays careful attention to the intersection of writing and history (or politics), as several poets featured here have faced the Second World War, the Holocaust, Communism, the fall of Communism, or the war in the former Yugoslavia.Taylor gives the work of renowned, upcoming, and still little-known poets a thorough look, all the while scrutinizing recent translations of their verse. He highlights several poets who are also masters of the prose poem. He includes a few novelists who have fashioned a particularly original kind of poetic prose, that stylistic category that has proved so difficult for critics to define. Into the Heart of European Poetry should be of immediate interest to any reader curious about the aesthetic and philosophical ideas underlying major trends of contemporary European writing. In a day and age when much too little is translated and thus known about foreign literature, and when Europeans themselves are pondering the common denominators of their own culture, this book is a

Book IL SOGNATORE DEL MONDO VERO

Download or read book IL SOGNATORE DEL MONDO VERO written by Alessio Arzuffi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-12-05 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Contemporary Bionian Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis

Download or read book Contemporary Bionian Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis written by Antonino Ferro and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-20 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychoanalytic theory has developed very rapidly in recent years across many schools of thought. One of the most popular builds on the work of Wilfred Bion. Contemporary Bionian Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis provides a concise and comprehensive introductory overview of the latest thinking in this area, with additional contemporary theoretical influences from Freud, Klein, and Winnicottian thought. Through explorations of the history, theory, and clinical practice of psychoanalysis, Ferro and contributors reveal the changes and developments it has undergone in the research laboratory of the consulting room. Contemporary Bionian Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis brings together the theories, clinical practice, and techniques that have gradually been developed in a variety of cultural contexts, exploring how they are understood, clarified and enriched by various analysts in daily practice. The book is circular, opening many paths of access to the reader. It aims to revive an experience of creative dialogue exactly as occurs in analysis when two minds think and dream together to transform each other reciprocally. The book sets forth, for instance, a new model of the mind called the oneiric model, taking inspiration from Bion’s conceptualizations and field theory. Covering central psychoanalytic concepts such as transference, dreams and child analysis, this book provides an excellent introduction to the most important contemporary features of Bionian theory and practice. Contemporary Bionian Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis will appeal to ppsychoanalysts and psychotherapists in training and practice, as well as students of psychiatry and psychology.

Book The Girl who Committed Hara Kiri and Other Clinical and Historical Essays

Download or read book The Girl who Committed Hara Kiri and Other Clinical and Historical Essays written by Franco Borgogno and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-08 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book bears witness to the author's psychoanalytic journey from the years 1994-1995 to the present, and as such is a completion and a continuation of his previous Psychoanalysis as a Journey of 1999. The book is divided into two parts: one clinical and the other theoretical. The two parts are connected to each other, since the concepts and authors on whom the second (theoretical-clinical) part are focused make up the "tools of the trade" that the author utilizes in the first part to describe his work with patients. In particular, th author describes his work with "M," who is the protagonist of many of these pages. The first (clinical) part contains the text, more or less unmodified, of the analytic paper that the author presented fifteen years ago in order to be appointed a training and supervising analyst.

Book Reading Italian Psychoanalysis

Download or read book Reading Italian Psychoanalysis written by Franco Borgogno and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-22 with total page 860 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the American Board & Academy of Psychoanalysis Prize for best Edited book published in 2016 Psychoanalysis in Italy is a particularly diverse and vibrant profession, embracing a number of influences and schools of thought, connecting together new thinking, and producing theorists and clinicians of global renown. Reading Italian Psychoanalysis provides a comprehensive guide to the most important Italian psychoanalytic thinking of recent years, including work by major names such as Weiss, E.Gaddini, Matte Blanco, Nissim Momigliano, Canestri, Amati Mehler, and Ferro. It covers the most important theoretical developments and clinical advances, with special emphasis on contemporary topics such as transference, trauma and primitive states of mind where Italian work has been particular influential. In this volume, Franco Borgogno, Alberto Luchetti and Luisa Marino Coe of the Italian Psychoanalytical Society provide an overview of how Italian psychoanalysis has developed from the 1920’s to the present day, tracing its early influences and highlighting contemporary developments. Forty-six seminal and representative papers of psychoanalysts belonging to the two Italian psychoanalytical societies (the Italian Psychoanalytical Society and the Italian Association of Psychoanalysis) have been chosen to illuminate what is special about Italian theoretical and clinical thinking, and what is demonstrative of the specificity of its psychoanalytic discourse. The selected papers are preceded by a first introductory section about the history of psychoanalysis in Italy and followed by a "swift glance at Italian psychoanalysis from abroad". They are grouped into sections which represent the areas particularly explored by Italian psychoanalysis. Each section is accompanied by introductory comments which summarize the main ideas and concepts and also their historical and cultural background, so as to offer to the reader either an orientation and stimulus for the debate and to indicate their connections to other papers included in the present volume and to the international psychoanalytic world. The book is divided into six parts including: History of psychoanalysis in Italy Metapsychology Clinical practice, theory of technique, therapeutic factors The person of the analyst, countertransference and the analytic relationship/field Trauma, psychic pain, mourning and working-through Preverbal, precocious, fusional, primitive states of the mind This volume offers an excellent and detailed "fresco" of Italian psychoanalytic debate, shining a light on thinking that has evolved differently in France, England, North and Latin America. It is an ideal book for beginners and advanced students of clinical theory as well as experienced psychoanalysts wanting to know more about Italian psychoanalytic theory and technique, and how they have developed.
