Book Fostering Pedagogical Innovation Through Effective Instructional Design

Download or read book Fostering Pedagogical Innovation Through Effective Instructional Design written by Khaldi, Mohamed and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2024-01-10 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There have been seismic shifts recently occurring in the realm of education. There is an important transition from a focus on "qualification" to "competence" in the world of work, and the need to equip educators with the skills and methodologies required to meet these changing demands has never been greater. The role of a teacher can no longer be a static practitioner, but rather a dynamic decision-maker, ready to shape developing minds. Fostering Pedagogical Innovation Through Effective Instructional Design is an expansive research book that delves deep into the intricate art of teaching, emphasizing that pedagogy is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. This scholarly work asserts that effective teaching is rooted in understanding context and a relentless commitment to refining one's instructional practices. The book introduces an array of critical parameters that educators must consider, including content selection, learner needs, and the ever-evolving realm of information and communication technologies. It navigates the reader through the intricacies of andragogy, the theoretical foundations of didactics, and innovative pedagogical approaches, offering a comprehensive toolkit for educators striving to optimize their craft.

Book Research Creation in Music and the Arts

Download or read book Research Creation in Music and the Arts written by Sophie Stévance and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-12 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1970s, the landscape of higher education and research has been considerably altered by the integration of the arts within the university environment. Even though a form of research is inherent to artistic creation, the creative process is not comparable to the established procedures involved in academic research. As such, how can the imperatives of intellectual (and sometimes restrictive) rigour characteristic of scholarly endeavours be reconciled with the more explorative and intuitive approach of artistic creation? The concept of 'research-creation' allows artists and scholars to collaborate on a common project, acknowledging each participant’s expertise in the production of an artistic work that either generates theoretical reflections or has emerged from academic research. This fully revised and updated translation of Sophie Stévance and Serge Lacasse’s original French book offers an overview of the historical, political, social, cultural and academic contexts within which research-creation has emerged in Quebec and Canada, before similar (yet often divergent) conceptions appeared elsewhere in the world. Focussing primarily on the case of music, the book goes on to explore the pedagogical potential of research-creation within a university-based environment and proposes a clear and encompassing definition, as well as a theoretical model, of research-creation supported by concrete examples. By underscoring the reciprocal nature of this approach and the potential benefits of collaborative relationships, the authors’ vision of research-creation extends far beyond the field of music and art alone: rather, it has the potential to integrate all approaches and disciplines that seek to combine practice and research.

Book Fluid Dynamics Transactions

Download or read book Fluid Dynamics Transactions written by W. Fiszdon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid Dynamics Transactions, Volume 1 is a compilation of papers presented at the Fifth Symposium on Fluid Dynamics held in Poland from August 26 to September 2, 1961. The symposium provided a forum for discussing developments in fluid dynamics based on the following topics: mathematical methods, hypersonic flow, rarefied gas dynamics, and magnetohydrodynamics. This volume is comprised of 26 chapters and begins by presenting equations for gas dynamics and highlighting some of applications of the general results. The discussion then turns to Cauchy's problem for the compressible flow of the simple wave type; the use of exact numerical methods for the solution of boundary layer problems; and the effect of surface catalytic efficiency on stagnation point heat transfer. A geometric method of classifying solutions of gas dynamics using certain space and the time-space Lie transformation groups is described. Subsequent chapters explore supersonic flow past blunt bodies; application of the Monte Carlo method to the analysis of rarefied gas flows; and fluid-fluid displacement in a porous medium. This book will be a useful resource for engineers and other scientists interested in fluid dynamics.

  • Author : Matthew Simon
  • Publisher : World Scientific Publishing Company

Download or read book Automata Theory written by Matthew Simon and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 1999-04-29 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers substantially the central ideas of a one semester course in automata theory. It is oriented towards a mathematical perspective that is understandable to non-mathematicians. Comprehension is greatly aided by many examples, especially on the Chomsky — Schützenberger theorem, which is not found in most books in this field. Special attention is given to semiautomata theory: the relationship between semigroups and sequential machines (including Green's relations), Schützenberger's maximal subgroup, von Neumann inverses, wreath products, transducers using matrix notation, shuffle and Kronecker shuffle products. Methods of formal power series, the ambiguity index and linear languages are discussed. Core material includes finite state automata, regular expressions, Kleene's theorem, Chomsky's hierarchy and transformations of grammars. Ambiguous grammars (not limited to context-free grammars) and modal logics are briefly discussed. Turing machine variants with many examples, pushdown automata and their state transition diagrams and parsers, linear-bounded automata/2-PDA and Kuroda normal form are also discussed. A brief study of Lindenmeyer systems is offered as a comparison to the theory of Chomsky.

Book The Middle English Weye of Paradys and the Middle French Voie de Paradis

Download or read book The Middle English Weye of Paradys and the Middle French Voie de Paradis written by Diekstra and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1991-04 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The late Middle English Weye of Paradys and its French source La Voie de Paradis use the theme of the allegorical journey to Paradise. Essentially they are popular guides to confession, adaptations for the layman of more specialized works in Latin such as Raymond of Pennaforte's Summa de Poenitentia. This edition presents critical texts of both The Weye of Paradys and La Voie de Paradis and analyzes the relations of the English text with its immediate (French) and distant (Latin) sources. This work makes the English and French texts available in print for the first time and places them in the wider field of popular penitential literature.

Book excerpt: Arranged alphabetically by subject and/or concept, the present handbook has been conceived, for convenience sake and quick reference, as an aid to students and researchers who are often puzzled or even sometimes intimidated by the ‘mysterious’ world of Arabic manuscripts and the technical language that goes with it. A companion volume to the recently published The Arabic Manuscript Tradition (2001) and its Supplement (2008), the vademecum comprises some 200 entries of varying lengths dealing with almost all aspects of Arabic manuscript studies (codicology and palaeography). It is richly illustrated with specimens from manuscripts and expertly executed drawings. The main sequence is followed by a number of appendices covering abbreviations, letterforms, sūrah-headings, major reference works and a guide to the description of manuscripts, as well as charts of major historical periods and dynasties.
