Download or read book Kristopher Kris What a Man written by Rudy Spolar and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2011-08 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kristopher Kris was something right from the time he was born. He put his arms out and wanted to be hugged and smiled at. Just with that he was happy and satisfied. He carried that through his life. After he grew up and took over his fathers business, he became a whiz at it. His father started Communication Systems in the early stages. Kris became a genius at it and like his dad he took the business to a new level and was at the for front of communications at the time. Kris made millions, but the way he did it was extraordinary and different. Kris was wealthy, adventurous, intriguing, dynamic and he was pretty tough. He was a entrepreneur and became a philanthropist. He was a giving person and enjoyed that the most. I take you through a ride in his life up till when he is at the top of his game that you will enjoy. It is exciting, different and fun to see how he handles himself and all the ups and downs he comes across along the way. Like me, I hope you will see what a real piece of work Kris is. Kris did things his way and it was a good way. He will get your attention. I am a man who has led a pretty good life over all. I have done a lot of different things over the years and was somewhat successful to a certain point. I have seen a lot of things over the years. My greatest accomplishments were getting through it all. I brought up a family and have children that are successful and they are doing well for themselves. I have had a lot of different jobs over the years and that was what got me this far. Now I am at the point in my life where I thought I should write about some of the things that have fascinated me in a imaginary way. I wrote this book because Kristopher Kris is someone who I think a lot of men would like to be. I made Kris in a lot of different flavors and ways that will get your attention. See if Kris can get your attention like he got mine.

Download or read book Basketball Junkie written by Chris Herren and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2011-05-10 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As seen in ESPN Films’ Unguarded, a “powerful . . . bracing . . . exceptional” true account of the former NBA and overseas pro’s rise and harrowing fall (NPR Books). I was dead for thirty seconds. That’s what the cop in Fall River told me. When the EMTs found me, there was a needle in my arm and a packet of heroin in the front seat. At basketball-crazy Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts, junior guard Chris Herren carried his family’s and the declining city’s dreams on his skinny frame. He was heavily recruited by major universities, chosen as a McDonald’s All-American, featured in a Sports Illustrated cover story, and at just seventeen years old became the central figure in Fall River Dreams, an acclaimed book about the 1994 Durfee team’s quest for the state championship. Leaving Fall River for college, Herren starred on Jerry Tarkanian’s Fresno State Bulldogs team of talented misfits, which included future NBA players as well as future convicted felons. His gritty, tattooed, hip-hop persona drew the ire of rival fans and more national attention: Rolling Stone profiled him, 60 Minutes interviewed him, and the Denver Nuggets drafted him. When the Boston Celtics acquired his contract, he lived the dream of every Massachusetts kid—but off the court Herren was secretly crumbling, as his alcohol and drug use escalated and his life spiraled out of control. Twenty years later, Chris Herren was a husband, a father, and a heroin junkie, who would flirt with death—and ultimately live to tell about it.
Download or read book Into the Wild written by Jon Krakauer and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2009-09-22 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter. This is the unforgettable story of how Christopher Johnson McCandless came to die. "It may be nonfiction, but Into the Wild is a mystery of the highest order." —Entertainment Weekly McCandess had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Not long after, he was dead. Into the Wild is the mesmerizing, heartbreaking tale of an enigmatic young man who goes missing in the wild and whose story captured the world’s attention. Immediately after graduating from college in 1991, McCandless had roamed through the West and Southwest on a vision quest like those made by his heroes Jack London and John Muir. In the Mojave Desert he abandoned his car, stripped it of its license plates, and burned all of his cash. He would give himself a new name, Alexander Supertramp, and, unencumbered by money and belongings, he would be free to wallow in the raw, unfiltered experiences that nature presented. Craving a blank spot on the map, McCandless simply threw the maps away. Leaving behind his desperate parents and sister, he vanished into the wild. Jon Krakauer constructs a clarifying prism through which he reassembles the disquieting facts of McCandless's short life. Admitting an interest that borders on obsession, he searches for the clues to the drives and desires that propelled McCandless. When McCandless's innocent mistakes turn out to be irreversible and fatal, he becomes the stuff of tabloid headlines and is dismissed for his naiveté, pretensions, and hubris. He is said to have had a death wish but wanting to die is a very different thing from being compelled to look over the edge. Krakauer brings McCandless's uncompromising pilgrimage out of the shadows, and the peril, adversity, and renunciation sought by this enigmatic young man are illuminated with a rare understanding—and not an ounce of sentimentality. Into the Wild is a tour de force. The power and luminosity of Jon Krakauer's stoytelling blaze through every page.
