Bei den Betrachtungen liegt, aufgrund der Bedeutung von Golfkrieg 1990/91 und Irak-Krieg 2003, die ihnen von den Medien eingeräumt wurde, der Fokus zumeist bei diesen neueren amerikanischen Kriegen im Nahen Osten sowie bei den politischen und militärischen Strategien der amerikanischen Regierung. Insbesondere das, zum Teil daraus resultierende, Verhalten und die Berichterstattung der Medien erscheinen jedoch durchaus als verallgemeinerbar.
