Book Krichever Novikov Type Algebras

Download or read book Krichever Novikov Type Algebras written by Martin Schlichenmaier and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2014-08-19 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Krichever and Novikov introduced certain classes of infinite dimensional Lie algebras to extend the Virasoro algebra and its related algebras to Riemann surfaces of higher genus. The author of this book generalized and extended them to a more general setting needed by the applications. Examples of applications are Conformal Field Theory, Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten models, moduli space problems, integrable systems, Lax operator algebras, and deformation theory of Lie algebra. Furthermore they constitute an important class of infinite dimensional Lie algebras which due to their geometric origin are still manageable. This book gives an introduction for the newcomer to this exciting field of ongoing research in mathematics and will be a valuable source of reference for the experienced researcher. Beside the basic constructions and results also applications are presented.

The book incorporates self-contained surveys with the main results, applications and perspectives. The chapters in this volume cover a wide variety of algebraic structures and their related topics. Jordan superalgebras, Lie algebras, composition algebras, graded division algebras, non-associative C*- algebras, H*-algebras, Krichever-Novikov type algebras, preLie algebras and related structures, geometric structures on 3-Lie algebras and derived categories are all explored. Algebra and Applications 1 is of great interest to graduate students and researchers. Each chapter combines some of the features of both a graduate level textbook and of research level surveys.

Book Generalized Symmetries In Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Generalized Symmetries In Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Mathematical Physics written by Heinz-dietrich Doebner and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-07-05 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains material submitted to a symposium on mathematical physics in July 1993 at the Technical University of Clausthal. It focuses on mathematical and physical notions of symmetries, especially on generalized and quantum symmetries (quantum groups and algebras) with applications to integrable systems, quasi-exact solvability, quantization methods and nonlinear problems. The workshop is a continuation of the series of meetings and workshops on mathematical physics in Clausthal which brings together mathematicians, theoretical and mathematical physicists working in the different parts of generalized symmetries. Recent developments in the mathematical structure and physical applications of generalized symmetries are discussed.

Book Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications

Download or read book Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications written by Alexander Vasil'ev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume highlights the main results of the research performed within the network “Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications” (HCAA), which was a five-year (2007–2012) European Science Foundation Programme intended to explore and to strengthen the bridge between two scientific communities: analysts with broad backgrounds in complex and harmonic analysis and mathematical physics, and specialists in physics and applied sciences. It coordinated actions for advancing harmonic and complex analysis and for expanding its application to challenging scientific problems. Particular topics considered by this Programme included conformal and quasiconformal mappings, potential theory, Banach spaces of analytic functions and their applications to the problems of fluid mechanics, conformal field theory, Hamiltonian and Lagrangian mechanics, and signal processing. This book is a collection of surveys written as a result of activities of the Programme and will be interesting and useful for professionals and novices in analysis and mathematical physics, as well as for graduate students. Browsing the volume, the reader will undoubtedly notice that, as the scope of the Programme is rather broad, there are many interrelations between the various contributions, which can be regarded as different facets of a common theme.

The book gives the reader an insight into the current research in differential geometry and Lie theory, as well as applications of these topics, in particular to general relativity and string theory.

Book Geometric Methods in Physics

Download or read book Geometric Methods in Physics written by Piotr Kielanowski and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features a selection of articles based on the XXXIV Białowieża Workshop on Geometric Methods in Physics, 2015. The articles presented are mathematically rigorous, include important physical implications and address the application of geometry in classical and quantum physics. Special attention deserves the session devoted to discussions of Gerard Emch's most important and lasting achievements in mathematical physics. The Białowieża workshops are among the most important meetings in the field and gather participants from mathematics and physics alike. Despite their long tradition, the Workshops remain at the cutting edge of ongoing research. For the past several years, the Białowieża Workshop has been followed by a School on Geometry and Physics, where advanced lectures for graduate students and young researchers are presented. The unique atmosphere of the Workshop and School is enhanced by the venue, framed by the natural beauty of the Białowieża forest in eastern Poland.

Book excerpt: This workshop was devoted to a discussion of recent progress made in the understanding of quantum field theories in spacetimes of less than four dimensions. In fact, the subject reached a certain degree of maturity and since most of the contributors played a major role in that progress, this volume constitutes a definitive treatise on this subject. Some of the subjects dealt with include: Quantum Groups and their Representations; W-Algebras and their Role in Physical Systems; Conformally Invariant Quantum Field Theories; Integrable Systems; Topological Field Theories.

Book Integrability Quantization and Geometry II Quantum Theories and Algebraic Geometry

Download or read book Integrability Quantization and Geometry II Quantum Theories and Algebraic Geometry written by Sergey Novikov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-04-12 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of articles written in memory of Boris Dubrovin (1950–2019). The authors express their admiration for his remarkable personality and for the contributions he made to mathematical physics. For many of the authors, Dubrovin was a friend, colleague, inspiring mentor, and teacher. The contributions to this collection of papers are split into two parts: “Integrable Systems” and “Quantum Theories and Algebraic Geometry”, reflecting the areas of main scientific interests of Dubrovin. Chronologically, these interests may be divided into several parts: integrable systems, integrable systems of hydrodynamic type, WDVV equations (Frobenius manifolds), isomonodromy equations (flat connections), and quantum cohomology. The articles included in the first part are more or less directly devoted to these areas (primarily with the first three listed above). The second part contains articles on quantum theories and algebraic geometry and is less directly connected with Dubrovin's early interests.
