This book was released on 2022-11-21 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Birkhot Hashahar are a series of blessings that are recited at the beginning of Jewish morning services. The blessings represent thanks to G-d for a renewal of the day. The order of the blessings is not defined by Halakha and may vary in a Siddur, but it is generally based on the order of activities customary upon arising. The purpose of all the blessings we say is to intensify our awareness of Hashem's presence in every aspect of our lives. When saying "Blessed are You," we therefore visualize in our mind as if we are actually speaking directly to the Infinite One. Clearly, the words "Blessed are You" indicate this. This book is geared for individuals who need to understand the text from Hebrew to English and pronouncing Hebrew words. The utilization of this booklet enables any person who does not understand Hebrew the proper concentration and meaning when they are praying. With the usage of this booklet hopefully people will be more successful in having their prayers answered. The text was developed in a way to produce a rhythmic flow, while allowing the reader to pronounce each letter, word and vowel with great ease in your native language.

Book It Could Lead to Dancing

Download or read book It Could Lead to Dancing written by Sonia Gollance and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dances and balls appear throughout world literature as venues for young people to meet, flirt, and form relationships, as any reader of Pride and Prejudice, War and Peace, or Romeo and Juliet can attest. The popularity of social dance transcends class, gender, ethnic, and national boundaries. In the context of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Jewish culture, dance offers crucial insights into debates about emancipation and acculturation. While traditional Jewish law prohibits men and women from dancing together, Jewish mixed-sex dancing was understood as the very sign of modernity––and the ultimate boundary transgression. Writers of modern Jewish literature deployed dance scenes as a charged and complex arena for understanding the limits of acculturation, the dangers of ethnic mixing, and the implications of shifting gender norms and marriage patterns, while simultaneously entertaining their readers. In this pioneering study, Sonia Gollance examines the specific literary qualities of dance scenes, while also paying close attention to the broader social implications of Jewish engagement with dance. Combining cultural history with literary analysis and drawing connections to contemporary representations of Jewish social dance, Gollance illustrates how mixed-sex dancing functions as a flexible metaphor for the concerns of Jewish communities in the face of cultural transitions.

Most Hebrew word study books read like a dictionary, not really explaining the Hebrew words in light of specific Bible passages. Hebrew Word Study by Chaim Bentorah combines an in-depth look at the meanings of a variety of scriptural words and phrases in the original Hebrew with a down-to-earth application for our daily Christian experience. Guided by Chaim’s expertise in biblical languages, you will examine not just word definitions, but also the origins of words, their place in the culture and idioms of the day, and even their emotional context. With the author’s anecdotes and stories from the Bible and ancient Jewish literature, the meanings of these words and passages become even more vivid. Each of the ninety word studies in this book will encourage and strengthen you in your relationship with God. As you search the depths of God’s Word, you will see just how beautiful the Scriptures are, and most of all, you will see the beauty of God Himself and come to love Him all the more.

Book excerpt: The sheer number of Jewish laws infuses everyday life with endless opportunities to touch the divine within. With this modern translation, the English-reading public can imbibe the holy ways of Jewish law as taught by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe, from the original source. In these volumes, the translation faces the newly reset Hebrew text. Notations appear when the Alter Rebbe's rulings are at variance with Rabbi Yosef Cairo's Shulchan Aruch and when other halachic works cite the subject at hand.
