Berger und Thomas Luckmann zusammen, um dann die Gedankengänge der Verfasser mit zwei ausgewählten Autoren zu vergleichen. Somit werden Gemeinsamkeiten, Unterschiede, aber auch Ambivalenzen herausgearbeitet. Bei den hierbei herangezogenen Autoren handelt es sich um Karl Marx und Heinrich Popitz. Als Referenz wurden dabei ihre Werke „Manifest der Kommunistischen Partei“ (zusammen mit Friedrich Engels) bzw. „Phänomene der Macht“ genutzt. Mit ihrem Werk „Die gesellschaftliche Konstruktion der Wirklichkeit“ legen Peter L. Berger und Thomas Luckmann den Grundstein für eine Neudefinition der Wissenssoziologie. Für die Autoren steht nicht wie bei ihren Vorgänger*innen allzu häufig theoretisches – also durch Wissenschaft „geschaffenes“ Wissen – im Vordergrund, sondern das Alltagswissen. Berger und Luckmann stellen sich die Frage, wie der Übergang von einem subjektiv gemeinten Sinn eines einzelnen Individuums zu einer faktischen Objektivität, nach der sich dann wiederum mehrere andere Individuen richten, beschaffen ist. Es geht also darum, wie subjektive Erlebnisse zu einer allgemeingültigen objektiven Wirklichkeit werden. Wie ihr Werk diese Fragestellung beantwortet, soll im ersten Teil dieser Hausarbeit rekonstruiert werden. Im zweiten Teil soll hingegen der Vergleich zu den Soziologen, Karl Marx und Heinrich Popitz, angestellt werden.

Es sind immer häufiger sogenannte „neue Kriege“, also innerstaatliche, bewaffnete Konflikte, welche unter zwei oder auch mehreren Konfliktparteien, die sich meist aus der Bevölkerung, aufständischen Gruppen (Rebellen) und der Regierung zusammensetzen, ausgefochten werden, welche die Weltöffentlichkeit in den letzten Jahren in Atem halten und die Staatengemeinschaft vor völlig neue Aufgaben stellen. Bei dieser Art von Konflikt laufen die Grenzen von Freund und Feind oft fließend ineinander. Da die meisten klassischen Theorien der Internationalen Beziehungen ihren Schwerpunkt auf der Erklärung von Konflikten zwischen einzelnen Akteuren auf der internationalen Ebene, also meist Nationalstaaten, haben, können sie das Szenario eines innerstaatlichen Konfliktes, ohne Blick auf innerstaatliche und kulturelle Faktoren, nur unzureichend erklären. Viel geeigneter hierfür erscheint daher die Theoriefamilie des Konstruktivismus, welche eben nicht nur die Handlungen und Mechanismen von Akteuren und Konflikten auf internationaler Ebene erklärt, sondern sich auch sehr gut als Instrument zur Betrachtung und Beleuchtung von Konflikten auf der innerstaatlichen Ebene eignet und deshalb das theoretische Fundament dieser Untersuchung legt.
