Book Knot Invariants and Higher Representation Theory

Download or read book Knot Invariants and Higher Representation Theory written by Benjamin Thomas Webster and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author constructs knot invariants categorifying the quantum knot variants for all representations of quantum groups. He shows that these invariants coincide with previous invariants defined by Khovanov for \mathfrak{sl}_2 and \mathfrak{sl}_3 and by Mazorchuk-Stroppel and Sussan for \mathfrak{sl}_n. The author's technique is to study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. These are the representation categories of certain finite dimensional algebras with an explicit diagrammatic presen.

The author's technique is to study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. These are the representation categories of certain finite dimensional algebras with an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the KLR algebra. When the Lie algebra under consideration is sl , the author shows that these categories agree with certain subcategories of parabolic category for gl .

Book Categorification and Higher Representation Theory

Download or read book Categorification and Higher Representation Theory written by Anna Beliakova and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2017-02-21 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergent mathematical philosophy of categorification is reshaping our view of modern mathematics by uncovering a hidden layer of structure in mathematics, revealing richer and more robust structures capable of describing more complex phenomena. Categorified representation theory, or higher representation theory, aims to understand a new level of structure present in representation theory. Rather than studying actions of algebras on vector spaces where algebra elements act by linear endomorphisms of the vector space, higher representation theory describes the structure present when algebras act on categories, with algebra elements acting by functors. The new level of structure in higher representation theory arises by studying the natural transformations between functors. This enhanced perspective brings into play a powerful new set of tools that deepens our understanding of traditional representation theory. This volume exhibits some of the current trends in higher representation theory and the diverse techniques that are being employed in this field with the aim of showcasing the many applications of higher representation theory. The companion volume (Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 684) is devoted to categorification in geometry, topology, and physics.

Book An Introduction to Quantum and Vassiliev Knot Invariants

Download or read book An Introduction to Quantum and Vassiliev Knot Invariants written by David M. Jackson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-04 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an accessible introduction to knot theory, focussing on Vassiliev invariants, quantum knot invariants constructed via representations of quantum groups, and how these two apparently distinct theories come together through the Kontsevich invariant. Consisting of four parts, the book opens with an introduction to the fundamentals of knot theory, and to knot invariants such as the Jones polynomial. The second part introduces quantum invariants of knots, working constructively from first principles towards the construction of Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants and a description of how these arise through Drinfeld and Jimbo's quantum groups. Its third part offers an introduction to Vassiliev invariants, providing a careful account of how chord diagrams and Jacobi diagrams arise in the theory, and the role that Lie algebras play. The final part of the book introduces the Konstevich invariant. This is a universal quantum invariant and a universal Vassiliev invariant, and brings together these two seemingly different families of knot invariants. The book provides a detailed account of the construction of the Jones polynomial via the quantum groups attached to sl(2), the Vassiliev weight system arising from sl(2), and how these invariants come together through the Kontsevich invariant.

  • Pages : 516 pages

Download or read book Quantum Invariants written by Tomotada Ohtsuki and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an extensive and self-contained presentation of quantum and related invariants of knots and 3-manifolds. Polynomial invariants of knots, such as the Jones and Alexander polynomials, are constructed as quantum invariants, i.e. invariants derived from representations of quantum groups and from the monodromy of solutions to the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation. With the introduction of the Kontsevich invariant and the theory of Vassiliev invariants, the quantum invariants become well-organized. Quantum and perturbative invariants, the LMO invariant, and finite type invariants of 3-manifolds are discussed. The ChernOCoSimons field theory and the WessOCoZuminoOCoWitten model are described as the physical background of the invariants. Contents: Knots and Polynomial Invariants; Braids and Representations of the Braid Groups; Operator Invariants of Tangles via Sliced Diagrams; Ribbon Hopf Algebras and Invariants of Links; Monodromy Representations of the Braid Groups Derived from the KnizhnikOCoZamolodchikov Equation; The Kontsevich Invariant; Vassiliev Invariants; Quantum Invariants of 3-Manifolds; Perturbative Invariants of Knots and 3-Manifolds; The LMO Invariant; Finite Type Invariants of Integral Homology 3-Spheres. Readership: Researchers, lecturers and graduate students in geometry, topology and mathematical physics."

Book Extended Graphical Calculus for Categorified Quantum sl 2

Download or read book Extended Graphical Calculus for Categorified Quantum sl 2 written by Mikhail Khovanov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an earlier paper, Aaron D. Lauda constructed a categorification of the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson form of the quantum sl(2); here he, Khovanov, Marco Mackaay, and Marko Stosic enhance the graphical calculus he introduced to include two-morphisms between divided powers one-morphisms and their compositions. They obtain explicit diagrammatical formulas for the decomposition of products of divided powers one-morphisms as direct sums of indecomposable one-morphisms, which are in a bijection with the Lusztig canonical basis elements. Their results show that one of Lauda's main results holds when the 2-category is defined over the ring of integers rather than over a field. The study is not indexed. Download or read book String Math 2022 written by Ron Donagi and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-04-18 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a proceedings volume from the String-Math conference which took place at the University of Warsaw in 2022. This 12th String-Math conference focused on several research areas actively developing these days. They included generalized (categorical) symmetries in quantum field theory and their relation to topological phases of matter; formal aspects of quantum field theory, in particular twisted holography; various developments in supersymmetric gauge theories, BPS counting and Donaldson–Thomas invariants. Other topics discussed at this conference included new advances in Gromov–Witten theory, curve counting, and Calabi–Yau manifolds. Another broad topic concerned algebraic aspects of conformal field theory, vertex operator algebras, and quantum groups. Furthermore, several other recent developments were presented during the conference, such as understanding the role of operator algebras in the presence of gravity, derivation of gauge-string duality, complexity of black holes, or mathematical aspects of the amplituhedron. This proceedings volume contains articles summarizing 14 conference lectures, devoted to the above topics.

Book New Ideas In Low Dimensional Topology

Download or read book New Ideas In Low Dimensional Topology written by Vassily Olegovich Manturov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2015-01-27 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of a selection of articles devoted to new ideas and developments in low dimensional topology. Low dimensions refer to dimensions three and four for the topology of manifolds and their submanifolds. Thus we have papers related to both manifolds and to knotted submanifolds of dimension one in three (classical knot theory) and two in four (surfaces in four dimensional spaces). Some of the work involves virtual knot theory where the knots are abstractions of classical knots but can be represented by knots embedded in surfaces. This leads both to new interactions with classical topology and to new interactions with essential combinatorics.

Book Szeg Kernel Asymptotics for High Power of CR Line Bundles and Kodaira Embedding Theorems on CR Manifolds

Download or read book Szeg Kernel Asymptotics for High Power of CR Line Bundles and Kodaira Embedding Theorems on CR Manifolds written by Chin-Yu Hsiao and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let X be an abstract not necessarily compact orientable CR manifold of dimension 2n−1, n⩾2, and let Lk be the k-th tensor power of a CR complex line bundle L over X. Given q∈{0,1,…,n−1}, let □(q)b,k be the Gaffney extension of Kohn Laplacian for (0,q) forms with values in Lk. For λ≥0, let Π(q)k,≤λ:=E((−∞,λ]), where E denotes the spectral measure of □(q)b,k. In this work, the author proves that Π(q)k,≤k−N0F∗k, FkΠ(q)k,≤k−N0F∗k, N0≥1, admit asymptotic expansions with respect to k on the non-degenerate part of the characteristic manifold of □(q)b,k, where Fk is some kind of microlocal cut-off function. Moreover, we show that FkΠ(q)k,≤0F∗k admits a full asymptotic expansion with respect to k if □(q)b,k has small spectral gap property with respect to Fk and Π(q)k,≤0 is k-negligible away the diagonal with respect to Fk. By using these asymptotics, the authors establish almost Kodaira embedding theorems on CR manifolds and Kodaira embedding theorems on CR manifolds with transversal CR S1 action.
