Book Knights of Grace Knight of Two

Download or read book Knights of Grace Knight of Two written by Michael Toy and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knights of Grace. That is the group we twelve Knights created to keep order after the governments of the twelve Nations were overthrown. I am the Knight of Two. That is my name, my title and position. No one knows who we are or who we were. Our identities must be kept secret from the people or chaos will rise. After a year of peace a member of our group betrays us and reveals himself as Xalden, formerly known as the Knight of Twelve. However that's not even the beginning of this chaotic world's story. With twelve Nations come the twelve Gifts. Power of Light, Darkness, Fire, Sound, Earth, Strength, Skill, Fear, Air, Sight, Electricity, and Speed are the twelve Gifts. Being born in the Nation of Speed my Gift is the Power of Speed. Being able to fight and move at unimaginable speeds and more is the power of my gift. Xalden's Gift is the Power of Darkness. What makes us Knights of Grace so special is that we are the most powerful of all and, if we so pleased, could destroy the world in one fell swoop. We have all the power in the land that is to offer. What Xalden is after is beyond us. However in our current status stopping him is impossible. Xalden was able to take our armor and fuse it to his own increasing his Gift power. Xalden, what is your goal in raising this chaos?

Book excerpt: An unforgettable fable about a father's journey and a timeless guide to life's many questions—from Ethan Hawke, four-time Academy Award nominee, twice for writing and twice for acting. A knight, fearing he may not return from battle, writes a letter to his children in an attempt to leave a record of all he knows. In a series of ruminations on solitude, humility, forgiveness, honesty, courage, grace, pride, and patience, he draws on the ancient teachings of Eastern and Western philosophy, and on the great spiritual and political writings of our time. His intent: to give his children a compass for a journey they will have to make alone, a short guide to what gives life meaning and beauty.

Then the cistercian abbot who never visited Palestine and discouraged monks who proposed doing so, in another eight chapters, provides a spiritual tour of the pilgrimage sites guarded by this 'new kind of knighthood and one unknown to ages gone by.'

Book A Knight s Own Book of Chivalry

Download or read book A Knight s Own Book of Chivalry written by Geoffroi de Charny and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the great influence of a valiant lord: "The companions, who see that good warriors are honored by the great lords for their prowess, become more determined to attain this level of prowess." On the lady who sees her knight honored: "All of this makes the noble lady rejoice greatly within herself at the fact that she has set her mind and heart on loving and helping to make such a good knight or good man-at-arms." On the worthiest amusements: "The best pastime of all is to be often in good company, far from unworthy men and from unworthy activities from which no good can come." Enter the real world of knights and their code of ethics and behavior. Read how an aspiring knight of the fourteenth century would conduct himself and learn what he would have needed to know when traveling, fighting, appearing in court, and engaging fellow knights. Composed at the height of the Hundred Years War by Geoffroi de Charny, one of the most respected knights of his age, A Knight's Own Book of Chivalry was designed as a guide for members of the Company of the Star, an order created by Jean II of France in 1352 to rival the English Order of the Garter. This is the most authentic and complete manual on the day-to-day life of the knight that has survived the centuries, and this edition contains a specially commissioned introduction from historian Richard W. Kaeuper that gives the history of both the book and its author, who, among his other achievements, was the original owner of the Shroud of Turin.

Book Knighthood in the Morte Darthur

Download or read book Knighthood in the Morte Darthur written by Beverly Kennedy and published by Boydell & Brewer Ltd. This book was released on 1992 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: `A lucid and rich analysis eminently suited to students at undergraduate and graduate levels.' CHOICEBeverley Kennedy puts Malory's concern with knighthood at the very heart of the Morte Darthur. She identifies three types of knight: the Heroic (Gawain), the Worshipful (Tristram and Arthur), and the True (Lancelot, Gareth and the Grail Knights), and argues that this knightly typology creates the thematic unity of the Morte Darthur. It also allows Malory to develop two quite different contexts, one pragmatic and political, the other religious and providential, within which the reader may judge why Arthur's reign ended in catastrophe.BEVERLEY KENNEDY is Professor of English at Marianopolis College, Canada.
