Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And Then They Lived Happily… We enter our romantic relationships with great love, hope, and excitement--we've found the 'one', so we plan and forge our futures together. But sometimes, for many different reasons, relationships come undone; they don't work out. Commonly, we view this as a personal failure, rather than an opportunity. And instead of honoring what we once meant to each other, we hoard bitterness and anger, stewing in shame and resentment. Sometimes even lashing out in destructive and hurtful ways, despite the fact that we’re good people at heart. That's natural: we're almost biologically primed to respond this way. Yet there is another path to the end of a relationship--one filled with mutual respect, kindness, and deep caring. Katherine Woodward Thomas, author of Calling in "The One" and creator of the groundbreaking method, Conscious Uncoupling, provides the valuable skills and tools for you to travel this challenging terrain with these five thoughtful and thought-provoking steps: Step 1: Find Emotional Freedom Step 2: Reclaim Your Power and Your Life Step 3: Break the Pattern, Heal Your Heart Step 4: Become a Love Alchemist Step 5: Create Your Happy Even After Life This paradigm-shifting guide will steer you away from a bitter end and toward a new life that’s empowered and flourishing.

Book excerpt: Tales I Have Woven is a collection of short stories that spin around the colorful fabric of life. The common threads of love, search for meaning, human choices, family values, tradition, change, environment, destiny and life's purpose are intricately contrived into a tapestry that blends into one. In The Stone House, Mr. So lived his life following the family values of honor and responsibility. He took care of his father's textile company and of his aging mother. Polistico was the respected tenor in a little village until the day of a big wedding in the story of Polistico. In Chrysalis the quiet town of Anao woke up hearing a bellowing voice of a strange creature. It was a historical town that whispered and was heard. And in Amapola, the fields of poppies in the valley made people leave and move. It was the restless need to chase and venture towards something that followed them. As the lives of these characters unfold, Elenita unveils her keen observation in the dynamic power of human sentiments, of love, compassion, purpose, and communal spirit. Tales I Have Woven is a propitious literary debut.

Book excerpt: For a number of years I have collected stories. My criteria for saving a story was always what I thought of as "Tears In My Heart," and I must admit most of those resulted in tears on my cheeks. This is a selection of some of those stories. Ones I would like to share with others. Some stories are true and others are illustrations, but, all have been used by God to touch my heart when I needed Him most. Always to remind me of His "Great Love" and to remind me to thank Him and praise Him for the blessings of the family and friends that He has sent me to encourage me and give me hope and faith in Him and "HOPE" in the future. It is my prayer that perhaps through these stories the Spirit of God will put "Tears in Your Heart" also and remind you of God's great LOVE for you and your "HOPE" for the future.

Book excerpt: Wendys Club is a book written for women (but applies to any gender, age, race, religion or sexual preference) who are "hooked" or addicted to people who refuse to grow up (Peter Pans?) AND how to break these addictions. Many men are drawn to women who are attractive, responsible, stable and are loving care givers. But, some men NEED this type of women because she is everything he is not. He tends to not be dependable, responsible, accountible for his actions and, above all, he puts his needs first and has to be the center of attention at all times. Our "Wendy" is, at first mesmerized by him and his charms. But, after a while, she begins to feel like his mother and or playmate, instead of being in a healthy/equal adult relationship. She KNOWS this relationship will probably never change (she gives 90% and he gives 10%) but she rationalizes that , "it could be worse". She stays (even though not happy or fulfilled) because she is afraid that if she leaves , she will be lonely and all alone (she dosen't realize that she already is). In this very easy, metaphorical presentation and reading, one will discover why these relationships exist for generations and how to identify past patterns and present dynamics. The author wiil present specific, theraputic ways of finding ones real self and how to begin to break free of these hurtful, perhaps harmful relationships forever!

Book Lectionary Preaching Workbook Series VI Cycle C

Download or read book Lectionary Preaching Workbook Series VI Cycle C written by E. Carver McGriff and published by CSS Publishing. This book was released on 1998 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preachers must understand the teaching techniques of parable and hyperbole, not to mention having a good background in systematic theology, in order to understand what the Bible's writers really meant.... But our responsibility is also to reduce the complexities of Bible study to such simplicities that our many listeners, ranging from busy young professional people to aging men and women of failing health to youngsters facing a variety of new temptations, can take away a saving word. (from the Preface) E. Carver McGriff provides the tools preachers need for their daunting task with some of the most timely and thought-provoking research on the lectionary texts ever made available. Included for each scriptural lesson in the lectionary are: - A listing of the applicable Revised Common, Roman Catholic, and Episcopal lectionary texts. - A description of the Psalm of the day. - A prayer for the day. - Commentary that is more than academic exegesis -- McGriff brings to the forefront those points in the lessons that relate most poignantly to our contemporary reality. - Suggested sermon titles for each of the three texts for each Sunday. - Themes and suggested directions for preaching on each text. - Several additional illustrations to enliven your preaching. Known in the Indianapolis community as a preacher with extraordinary gifts, it is no surprise at all that this work by Carver McGriff brings remarkable insights to those who look for integrity in their preaching. Carver looks at the texts with a freshness that is sure to stimulate the thought process.... Careful use of these suggestions will bring serendipities to preacher and congregation. George H. Tooze Senior Minister, First Baptist Church Indianapolis, Indiana One of America's premiere preachers, E. Carver McGriff returned home after earning two Purple Hearts during World War II to earn a degree in business administration from Butler University. Following a career as a salesman and business owner, McGriff entered Garrett Theological Seminary, where he was voted Best Preacher by the faculty and graduated with distinction. During his 26-year ministry at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Indianapolis, McGriff spearheaded his congregation's remarkable growth in membership from 900 to 4,400, with average Sunday attendance increasing from 300 to over 1,850. McGriff received an honorary degree from the University of Indianapolis and the Outstanding Alumnus award from Butler University and was voted the Distinguished Alumnus of the year by Christian Theological Seminary. McGriff was also honored in 1993 by the Governor of Indiana with the "Sagamore of the Wabash." His sermons have been distributed nationwide by the United Methodist Publishing House.
