His analysis takes in a wide spectrum, from the Vandal kings of Spain and the long-haired kings of France, to the beheaded kings of England and France, Charles I and Louis XVI. He lived in Michigan, Iowa, Tennessee and died in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. He married (1) Jerusha Tuttle (1833-1857), born in Wysox, Pa.; (2) Elizabeth Bennett (Elizabeth Bennett Richardson), a widow, in 1868.
