Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cover Name: Dr. Rantzau is a gripping diary-like personal account of espionage during the Second World War and is one of very few historic memoirs written by an ex- Abwehr officer. Detailed is how Colonel Nikolaus Ritter, following a brief World War I career and over ten years as a businessman in America, returned to Germany in spring of 1935 and became Chief of Air Intelligence in the Abwehr. He was assigned to establish a network of agents to gather information on British and US airfields, aircrafts, and state-of-the-art developments in the aerospace industry. Among others, Ritter's cover names were Dr. Rantzau and Dr. Reinhard in Holland, Belgium, and Luxembourg, Dr. Jansen in Hungary, Dr. Renken in Germany, and Mr. Johnson in America. Throughout his service in the Abwehr, Ritter smuggled America's most jealously guarded secret, the Norden bombsight and the Sperry gyroscope, into Germany, and coordinated the planning for the invasion of the British Isles (Operation Sea Lion). Ritter was incarcerated by the British in 1945 and sent to the Bad Nenndorf interrogation centre. Katharine Ritter Wallace, the daughter of Col. Ritter, presents the first English translation of the German World War II memoir. With a combination of collected documents, correspondences, personal notes, communications with peers, and from memory, this captivating account by an espionage agent reveals an insider's glimpse of the German intelligence service and of a handler's expansive and diverse agent network.

Book JESUS JAMES JOSEPH and the past and future Temple

Download or read book JESUS JAMES JOSEPH and the past and future Temple written by David Heilbron Price and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-08-12 with total page 740 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Roman times, the historic records say the world's most beautiful city was Jerusalem. Amid the city, the Temple shone out in gold and white stone. About a million man-years were involved in its ingenious structure. It astounded the world. To the north lay the fortress city of Antonia, connected by a causeway. Another causeway crossed the ravine of the Kidron to the Mount of Olives. Worldwide the exiled tribes of Israel supplied vast quantities of gold and treasures. Millions came to worship. James the brother of Jesus had a throne inside the Temple. He prayed in the Holy Place. He followed in the steps of his father Joseph. Jesus had a far higher office than either. It is described both in the New Testament and early writers of the first centuries. The facts of the resurrection were so clear that Roman emperor Tiberius immediately proclaimed Jesus a God. Others like Caligula tried to destroy the Temple and Jerusalem. Rome also tried to destroy the real facts about Jesus, James and Joseph in the Temple.

Book excerpt: The most authoritative life of the Chinese leader every written, Mao: The Unknown Story is based on a decade of research, and on interviews with many of Mao’s close circle in China who have never talked before — and with virtually everyone outside China who had significant dealings with him. It is full of startling revelations, exploding the myth of the Long March, and showing a completely unknown Mao: he was not driven by idealism or ideology; his intimate and intricate relationship with Stalin went back to the 1920s, ultimately bringing him to power; he welcomed Japanese occupation of much of China; and he schemed, poisoned, and blackmailed to get his way. After Mao conquered China in 1949, his secret goal was to dominate the world. In chasing this dream he caused the deaths of 38 million people in the greatest famine in history. In all, well over 70 million Chinese perished under Mao’s rule — in peacetime.

Book Montgomery and Colossal Cracks

Download or read book Montgomery and Colossal Cracks written by Stephen Hart and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2000-05-30 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A reinterpretation of the British Army's conduct in the crucial 1944-45 Northwest Europe campaign, this work examines systematically the Colossal Cracks operational technique employed by Montgomery's Anglo-Canadian 21st Army Group and demonstrates the key significance that morale and casualty concerns exerted on this technique. To ensure a full understanding of the campaign, one needs to look not only at Montgomery's methods but at those of his army commanders, Dempsey and Crerar; thus, this study addresses the scant attention to date paid to these two figures. Hart suggests that Montgomery and his two senior subordinates handled this formation more effectively than some scholars have suggested. In fact, Colossal Cracks, the concentration of massive force at a point of German weakness, represented the most appropriate weapon the 1944 British Army could develop under the circumstances. Previous studies have been characterized by an overemphasis on Montgomery's role in the campaign, rather than a systematic examination of overall British methods. They have ignored the difficulties that the 1944 British Army faced given its manpower shortage, and they have underestimated the appropriateness of Monty's methods to the campaign war aims that Britain pursued: namely, the desire that Britain's modest military forces secure a high profile within a larger Allied effort. The cautious, firepower-laden approach used by the 21st Army Group was both crude and a double-edged sword; however, despite these weaknesses, Colossal Cracks represented an appropriate technique given the nature of British war aims and the relative capabilities of the forces involved. It proved to be just enough to defeat the Germans and keep alive British hopes that her war aims might be achieved.

Book Dialogues of Negritude

Download or read book Dialogues of Negritude written by Jean Baptiste Popeau and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new offering, Popeau demonstrates that Negritude, a literary and philosophical movement inaugurated in the 1930s by a group of Blacks studying in Paris, is the manifestation of a dialogue between Blacks and Western culture and an internal dialogue amongst Blacks themselves. This movement had a profound influence on the Black movements which followed in the 1960s and '70s. When the Black Panthers shouted "Black is beautiful" they were echoing the "It is good and beautiful to be Black" statement of the 1930s Negritude movement. The first two chapters of the book examine the basic structure and content of the discourse about Blacks in Euro-American culture including Hegel's ideological pronouncements about Africa and the Western concept of the Black in literature. The second part of the book examines Negritude as a counter-discourse to the discourse on the Negro in Western culture by focusing on the works of Aimé Césaire and Léopold Sédar Senghor, the two principal founders of Negritude. The study aims to discuss the manifestation of Negritude post-1930s through an examination of some works of James Baldwin and Richard Wright. The ideas of Wilson Harris, the West Indian writer, are discussed as a counter to the ideology of Negritude. This study aims to provide the student of Black literature with the knowledge necessary to place one of the most important formative movements of Black literature within its cultural perspective.
