Book Kindergarten Readiness

Download or read book Kindergarten Readiness written by Carlie Painter and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Parents of children entering Kindergarten are anxious and eager to help their children prepare for this major milestone in life, however; many are unapprised of the best methods to assist. They focus heavily on academic preparedness such as reading, writing, and mathematics, and do not consider preparing their children socially, emotionally, and physically. This project describes my development of a Kindergarten readiness handbook for parents, applying my personal experience as a Kindergarten teacher as well as qualitative content analysis to analyze the literature on early learning and other parent handbooks and resources. The handbook deals with five domains of Kindergarten readiness: social-emotional development, motor skills development, language and literacy development, self-care, and family and school partnerships. Along with information about these four domains, the handbook offers suggestions and strategies for parents to support their children with the transition to Kindergarten. This easy-to-understand handbook offers parents a concreate resource to help guide their children’s journey to formal schooling."--Leaf ii.

Book The Preschool Resource Guide

Download or read book The Preschool Resource Guide written by Harriet Friedes and published by Da Capo Press. This book was released on 1993-03-21 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can you find books and magazines that nurture a child's love of reading? Safe and long-lasting toys that inspire the imagination? Audiotapes of superior musical quality? Computer software that is appealing and age-appropriate? Videotapes of educational value? The Preschool Resource Guide is an extraordinary resource for parents, educators, and caregivers who need to locate quality educational items for young children. With her invaluable experience in working closely with children and their families, Harriet Friedes, M.A., has been able to gather materials that, in age-appropriate fashion, educate and entertain, give the most value for the money, and engage a child's active intellectual capacities. With selection criteria based on endorsements from professional associations, members of the media, educators, and parents, this book is carefully designed to feature the following: the best, brand-specific books, magazines, toys and games, computer software, audiotapes, and videotapes; relevant insights on behavioral development; a helpful checklist of skills for kindergarten readiness; an extensive array of free and inexpensive materials to promote creativity; and an annotated listing of parenting literature and support groups devoted to preschool issues. The Preschool Resource Guide is an especially well timed publication in light of today's trend for children to begin school at earlier ages, the increased emphasis on preschool education, and the expensive products of dubious value pitched to the consumer. As a cost-conscious alternative to this approach, Ms. Friedes has conveniently designed individual chapters as self-contained units that feature prime preschool materials and vitalinformation needed to enhance an appreciation and enjoyment of learning between child and parent. This engaging, comprehensive book will be referred to repeatedly by parents and other family members, teachers and administrators of early childhood education, nursery and kindergarten classes, day care centers, child care providers, child psychologists, pediatricians, and librarians.

Book Parents and Teachers Beliefs about Kindergarten Readiness Skills

Download or read book Parents and Teachers Beliefs about Kindergarten Readiness Skills written by Carol Baldwin Rowland and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scope and method of study. The purpose of this study was to identify the beliefs of teachers and parents as to the skills necessary to insure that a child enters school ready to learn. Data was gathered using the CARES survey developed by Chaya Piotrkowski and colleagues (2001) that was given to parents and teachers in English and Spanish at an educational child care program in a Midwestern city. This program is an early learning center that provides an educational environment for children who come from families that are 100% or more of poverty and many of whom have the additional risk factor for school challenges by speaking only Spanish. The research goal for this study was to describe similarities and differences between the school readiness beliefs of teachers and low-income parents from the same educational program for young children.
