Book excerpt: Why do some people succeed while others don't? What elevates the greats from the average? How can you leverage their secrets to maximize your life? The answer is not some X-factor from God, the universe, or luck. The successful have learned contentment without complacency. The Killing Complacency philosophy demonstrates how to become extraordinary by using definiteness of purpose and deliberate practice. By eliminating complacency thinking, you shift your mindset from limited and scarcity to growth and prosperity. Examples from the Bible to modern biographies reveal there is a process, rather than a divine zap, that creates greatness. Are you ready to shift into high gear and pursue success? If so, this book provides key insights into building ambition, maximizing your results, and getting out of your own way. "The world is full of people in need, but perhaps the greatest need is for an end to complacency and limiting beliefs." - P. Huber Why Kill Complacency? The world can be a far better place, with abundance for everyone, if we can just kill the creeping scourge of complacency. From the first-world to third-world, we all benefit from the death of complacency. Resurrecting Ambition We have all seen the ugly side of ambition resulting in a myriad of bad behaviors. However, the answer is not to suppress ambition, but to direct it. We know the pain caused by a lack of contentment, but let what we call contentment metastasize into complacency. Killing Complacency offers a reconciliation of contentment without complacency; ambition without envy; and a guide for setting the trajectory to your destiny. Maximizing Your Life The world needs more than just a few successful people - the world needs you and everyone else to produce the maximum level of success. Success is your duty. The good news is that humans are designed to continually grow our abilities long after we leave the educational system. We are able to produce far more than we imagine, and have the power to drive to even higher levels the definition of "average." Scroll back up and order your copy now. Book Ending the Scandal of Complacency

Download or read book Ending the Scandal of Complacency written by Great Britain. Parliament. House of Commons. Transport Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2008 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although road accident deaths have halved between 1958 and 2007 whilst the number of licensed motor vehicles and vehicle mileage covered increased by 400 per cent, the current rate of 3,000 deaths and 250,000 injuries is still an unacceptably high level. Road accidents are the largest single cause of death for people between the ages of 5 and 35 in Britain, and road accidents cost our economy some £18 billion each year. The number of deaths and injuries on roads far outweighs the deaths and injuries in other transport modes, and should be viewed as a major public health problem. The Government should establish a British Road Safety Survey to track overall casualty and safety trends, and review current methods for recording road-traffic injuries. The Committee recommends a systems approach to road safety: ensuring the vehicle, the road infrastructure, regulations and driver training are designed to similar safety and performance standards. Other recommendations include: more 20 mph speed limits; a more proactive approach to determining the safety benefits of new vehicle technologies; action on young drivers - who represent a disproportionate risk to road users - and vulnerable users: motorcyclists, elderly and child pedestrians and cyclists, horse riders; a higher priority given to enforcement of drink-drive and drug-drive offences. The Committee recommends the establishment of an independent Road Safety Commission with powers to work across the whole of government, ensuring that a high priority and adequate resources are given to road safety and that all government departments and agencies give active support. The Government should also establish a road accident investigation branch, like those in aviation, rail and marine.

Book Trapped Escaping the Comfort of Complacency

Download or read book Trapped Escaping the Comfort of Complacency written by Kevin Tutt and published by Kouba Graphics Incorporated. This book was released on 2015-10-29 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is human nature to try to make things easier, more routine or, as the book title suggests, more comfortable. We see comfort as a good thing, and in and of itself, it is. However, when we become comfortable with what seems to be good enough, we lose the drive that leaders want in individuals. There is no more passion, motivation, excitement, ownership, accountability or initiative. The fact is, we become dormant and find ourselves simply going through the motions of life, in our careers, families and personal life. We begin to complain that it is the fault of others around us-my job, my boss, my spouse, my kids, my friends-when the reality is that we have simply stepped squarely into the trap of complacency. This book addresses seven key areas to help free you from complacency and challenge you to rekindle your passion and desire for success.

Book They Came To Kill The Story of Eight Nazi Saboteurs in America

Download or read book They Came To Kill The Story of Eight Nazi Saboteurs in America written by Eugene Rachlis and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They Came to Kill, first published in 1961, is the fascinating World War II story of the U-boat landings of eight Nazi spies on beaches on Long Island and in Florida in June 1942, equipped with explosives and a large amount of U.S. money. Their mission, known as Operation Pastorius, was to disrupt and destroy vital war manufacturing plants and railways in the Tennessee Valley and elsewhere in the United States. The men were quickly rounded up by the F.B.I., in part due to the voluntary surrender of one of the group’s leaders, George Dasch. Following their arrest, the men were tried before a specially created military tribunal; all eight were found guilty and initially sentenced to death. Six of the men were executed in the electric chair, while President Roosevelt reduced the sentences of two of the men due to their turning themselves in to authorities. Included are 8 pages of illustrations.

Book WHY COPS DIE And How to Prevent It

Download or read book WHY COPS DIE And How to Prevent It written by Gerald W. Garner and published by Charles C Thomas Publisher. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides time- and experience-proven advice for responding safely and effectively to threats to a law enforcement officerfs safety. It relies on law enforcementfs bloody history to reveal what has gone wrong for a very long time — and how to fix it so that no more cops die needlessly. This book identifies the cop killers and the fatal errors that cops make, and it explores how these incidents happen and why. Most important of all, the book goes into detail about how to prevent these terminal errors and furnishes to-the-point advice for avoiding them. These tactics and techniques work. It offers the same common sense advice that solid patrol sergeants have been sharing with their briefing room charges for a long while. It has been assembled by a police chief who spent 15 years as a sergeant. WHY COPS DIE can be used in a lot of ways, all of them useful for drastically reducing the number of officers who die on the job every year. It should be issued to every law enforcement academy recruit. It is aimed across the spectrum of the law enforcement organization from the rookie to the first-line supervisor to the command staff. Chiefs and sheriffs will find it of value, as will those directly responsible for the training of law enforcement officers. By applying practical, potentially lifesaving advice to their daily duties law enforcementfs first-line practitioners can sharply reduce the number of peacekeepers who die or are maimed in the future. That effort begins here.

Book Kill the Company

Download or read book Kill the Company written by Lisa Bodell and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-10-21 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the ever-changing world of business, we've arrived at a point where process has trumped culture, where the race toward efficiency has left us unable to reach our potential. Stuck in the land of status quo, we've forgotten how to think. The very structures put in place to help businesses grow are now holding us back;; it's time to Kill the Company. This book is a call to arms: to start a revolution in how we think and work. But instead of more one-size-fits-all change initiatives forced upon employees, we need to embrace small changes that create ripple effects throughout the organization. Lisa Bodell urges companies to move from "Zombies, Inc." to "Think, Inc." Thinking can no longer be exclusive to the creative team or lead strategists. A culture of curiosity must be fostered among the ranks to shake up our standard practices, from unproductive meetings to go-nowhere strategic planning. This revolution can and will awaken our ability to think, and ultimately, to innovate and grow.
