Book Italian Architectural Drawings from the Cronstedt Collection in the Nationalmuseum Stockholm

Download or read book Italian Architectural Drawings from the Cronstedt Collection in the Nationalmuseum Stockholm written by Anna Bortolozzi and published by Hatje Cantz Verlag. This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Integrative Problem Solving in a Time of Decadence

Download or read book Integrative Problem Solving in a Time of Decadence written by George Christakos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-10 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a unique study of Integrative Problem-Solving (IPS). The consideration of 'Decadence' is essential in the scientific study of environmental and other problems and their rigorous solution, because the broad context within which the problems emerge can affect their solution. Stochastic reasoning underlines the conceptual and methodological framework of IPS, and its formulation has a mathematical life of its own that accounts for the multidisciplinarity of real world problems, the multisourced uncertainties characterizing their solution, and the different thinking modes of the people involved. Only by interpolating between the full range of disciplines (including stochastic mathematics, physical science, neuropsychology, philosophy, and sociology) and the associated thinking modes can scientists arrive at a satisfactory account of problem-solving, and be able to distinguish between a technically complete problem-solution, and a solution that has social impact.

Book The Neurolinguistics of Bilingualism

Download or read book The Neurolinguistics of Bilingualism written by Franco Fabbro and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-05-24 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the reader to both neurolinguistics per se and the neuropsychological aspects of bilingualism. Neurolinguistics may roughly be defined as a subset of neuropsychology, namely the study of the representation and processing of language in the brain. To this effect, the first chapters of the book focus on the basic neuropsychology of language processing and acquisition. The second half of the book addresses the issues of cerebral representation and processing of language in bi-or multilingual subjects. All aspects are systematically dealt with, namely the definition of bilingualism; an analysis of all the issues related to bilingual aphasia, i.e. patterns of recovery of the patients' carious languages in diverse population; an investigation of the methodologies used in the study of the neuropsychological aspects of the various linguistic functions, such as comprehension, production and translation; and lastly, the issues of cerebral lateralization and neuroanatomical localization of the numerous cortical and subcortical structures subserving the various language system components in multilingual subjects. It is an excellent introduction to both the neuropsychology of language and the phenomena related to bilingualism. This book will be of particular interest to students of language therapy, aphasiology, applied psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics and, in general, to students of medicine who wish to become more knowledgeable about the specific needs of patients in a multilingual society.

Book Satellite Systems for Personal Applications

Download or read book Satellite Systems for Personal Applications written by Madhavendra Richharia and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-07-05 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents the concepts, technology, and role of satellite systems in support of personal applications, such as mobile and broadband communications, navigation, television, radio and multimedia broadcasting, safety of life services, etc. This book presents a novel perspective on satellite systems, reflecting the modern personal technology context, and hence a focus on the individual as end-user. The book begins by outlining key generic concepts before discussing techniques adopted in particular application areas; next, it exemplifies these techniques through discussion of state-of-art current and emerging satellite systems. The book concludes by contemplating the likely evolution of these systems, taking into consideration influences and trends in technology, in conjunction with growing user expectations. In addition to addressing satellite systems that directly interact with personal devices, the book additionally considers those indirect applications where there is an increasing interest by individuals - notably, in remote sensing. As such, the book uniquely encompasses the entire gamut of satellite-enabled personal / end-user applications. Key Features: Broad scope - views satellite systems generically with regards to their applicability across a wide range of personal application areas Strong foundation in underlying concepts State-of-the-art system examples Review of trends in relevant areas of satellite technology Revision questions at the end of each chapter The book is suited to individuals, engineers, scientists, service providers, system operators, application developers and managers interested or involved in the use of satellite technology for personal applications. It should also hold interest for use in research institutes interested in promoting inter-disciplinary cross-fertilization of ideas, as well as by financiers, policy makers, and strategists interested in gaining a better understanding of this technology.
