Book History of India Abroad

Download or read book History of India Abroad written by Sagar Simlandy and published by BFC Publications. This book was released on 2021-07-07 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indian history and culture are dynamic, spanning back to the beginning of human civilization. It began with a mysterious culture that flourished along the Indus River as well as among the farming communities in the southern lands of India. And the history of India is punctuated by constant integration of migrating people with the diverse cultures that surrounded India. Available evidence suggests that the use of iron, copper, and other metals was widely prevalent in the Indian sub-continent at a fairly early period, which is indicative of the progress that this part of the world had made by the end of the fourth millennium BC. History is the chronological study of the life and civilization of human beings. To develop linkage with the past and the present through continuous dialogues between the experience of past and that of the present is the fundamental mission of history. So, the historian E H Car aptly says that the great writing of history becomes successful only when the search done by the historians illuminates and involves it with the problems of present age. The tested truth is that achieving knowledge from the experience of history acts as constant in the different socio-economic and political contexts. But the approaches to studying history are continuously informed by the changing circumstances and consequently modified from time to time in keeping with the demands of time and space. New ideas and views develop in the present and futures times in the light of experiences of history.

There is religion to believe that even in pre and Post-historical man pursued some religious practices or the other though it is difficult to find out their exact nature. Download or read book Yadavas Through the Ages from Ancient Period to Date written by J. N. Singh Yadav and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Yadus or Yadavas had been one of the five Janas of the ancient India. They played an important part in the field of culture, religion, philosophy, history and development of the sub-continent. They gave thinkers like Yadu, Krishna, his philosophy of Gita, of action and devotion; Neminatha, the twenty-second tirthankara of the Jainas; mighty empires, new pastures upto the Central Asia for the advancement of religion, culture and arts. They carried the vedic ideology and culture to the farthest point of South India. They contributed significantly to the cultural advancement of the North equally, patronised art and culture, defended the country from the foreign onslaughts and established republican system of governance much before the Greeks. They constructed strong forts magnificent palaces, places of worship, canals, dams and roads founded cities and capitals, cultivated new pastures and introduced a system of agriculture and animal husbandry. They were the defenders of various faiths and the country. The Yadavas have been known by different nominatures or sub-names, such as Cholas, Cheras, Haihayas, Satvatas, Andhakas, Vrsnis, Tundikeras, Pandyas, Kalacuris, Rastrakutas, Jadejas, Palas, Guptas, Abhiras, Ahiras, Idiyans, Wodeyars, Pallavas, Hoysalas, etc., etc. It has been a riddle for the scholars to recognize all these branches of this great community and to give a comprehensive and connected account of the Yadavas of different regions and times. This study is the first attempt to delineate a comprehensive history of the Yadavas from ancient times up to, the modern period. It is a concentrated effort to trace the historical origin of the Yadavas, their expansion, their place in the polity, society and culture, their contribution to different aspects of socia, cultural and agriculture, political and cultural life and trade and industry of the sub-continent. The author after a deep and concentrated study of the Vedas, the Puranas, the Upanisadas, mythology, history and allied literature has produced this scientific study of a people who constitute the single largest community of India. Though the Yadavas have adopted many religions, and even castes, this study focuses its lens mainly on the Yadavas who are 'Hindus'. The area of the study has been mainly the political boundaries of India, though, at times, these have been crossed whenever it was necessary for the topic. The present work is a pioneer study of the subject and shall inspire scholars to use it as a source and reference book.

  • ISBN : 9380607172
  • Pages : 377 pages

Download or read book Approaches to History written by Sabyasachi Bhattacharya and published by Primus Books. This book was released on 2011 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History as a social science is arguably more self-reflective than associated disciplines in that family. Other social scientists seem to see little reason to look beyond the paradigm they are developing in the present times. Historians on the other hand, tend to depend on the cumulative process of the development of their craft and the fund of accumulated knowledge. Yet, while this is acknowledged in the practice of research, Historiography in itself as a subject of study has rarely found its place in the syllabi of Indian universities. Knowledge of Historiography is taken for granted when a scholar plunges into research. In an attempt to address this lacuna, the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) has planned a series of volumes on Historiography comprising articles by subject specialists commissioned by the ICHR. The first volume in the series, Approaches to History: Essays in Indian Historiography brings to the readers the first fruits of that endeavour. While the essays encompass areas of research presently at the frontiers of new research, scholars will also find the bibliographies accompanying the essays of significant appeal.
