Book Kant s Lectures Kants Vorlesungen

Download or read book Kant s Lectures Kants Vorlesungen written by Bernd Dörflinger and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-07-31 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although they were not written by Kant himself, the transcripts of his lectures constitute an important source for philosophical research today. Some of the contributions presented in this volume discuss the authenticity and significance of these transcripts, for example the status of Kant's lectures on logic and anthropology, while others shed light on the historical formation of specific writings, for instance the texts on the philosophy of religion. The contributions provide new insights into Kant's philosophy, that, if looking at Kant's published writings alone, we would not be able to gain. In a number of cases, a critical analysis of Kant's lectures gives us a better understanding of his published works. Thus his lectures on metaphysics shed new light on his Critique of Pure Reason, while the lecture on natural law is a valuable source for the understanding of his published legal writings.

Book Kant s Pre critical Ethics

Download or read book Kant s Pre critical Ethics written by Paul Arthur Schilpp and published by Burns & Oates. This book was released on 1998 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text aims, in presenting Kant's pre-critical writings, to show that ethics was a central preoccupation for Kant long before the second "Critique". It draws together materials not only from Kant's early published writings but also from unfinished fragments, lecture notes and correspondence. The result is an investigation of the development of Kant's moral philosophy prior to the publication of the first "Critique". The work aims to make the reader re-examine Kant's ethical thought as a whole, and in doing so, find a more rational interpretation.

  • Publisher : V&R Unipress
  • Release : 2015-09-16

Download or read book Detours written by Violetta L. Waibel and published by V&R Unipress. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Detours" explores the reception of Kant's works in Vienna, Austria and Eastern Europe from a historical point of view and focuses on six topics: Kant and Censorship, Kant and Karl Leonhard Reinhold, who was the first Kantian born in Vienna and became a precursor for German and Austrian Kant reception in Jena, Kant and Eastern Europe, Kant and his Poets, Kant and Phenomenology and Kant and the Vienna Circle. In this way, the ambivalent perception of Kant in Austria becomes clearer: On the one hand Kant was censored and criticized harshly but on the other hand Kant's philosophy was studied actively in the "underground".

Book Kant A Biography

    Book Details:
  • Author : Manfred Kuehn
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 2001-03-19
  • ISBN : 1316025438
  • Pages : 580 pages

Download or read book Kant A Biography written by Manfred Kuehn and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001-03-19 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first full-length biography in more than fifty years of Immanuel Kant, one of the giants amongst the pantheon of Western philosophers as well as the one with the most powerful and broad influence on contemporary philosophy. It is well known that Kant spent his entire life in an isolated part of Prussia living the life of a typical university professor. This has given rise to the view that Kant was a pure thinker with no life of his own, or at least none worth considering seriously. In this biography, Manfred Kuehn debunks that myth once and for all. Taking account of the most recent scholarship Professor Kuehn allows the reader (whether interested in philosophy, history, politics, German culture, or religion) to follow the same journey that Kant himself took in emerging as a central figure in modern philosophy.
