New in 2018, notaries public can also apply for an electronic records notary public endorsement, which allows the notary to perform notarial acts on electronic documents as well as paper documents. This applied to any identification card or driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles showing an expiration date of March 1, 2020 or later.
