Education material including pamphlets and questionnaires and counseling from the staff nurses to their patients are important factors in the promotion of kangaroo care and breastfeeding in under-educated mothers. Questions that will be asked at admission regarding feeding plans include 'Do you plan to breast feed after delivery?' and 'Do you want to initiate kangaroo care immediately after delivery?' After these questions are asked, education material and counseling will begin for the patients who state no to one or both of these questions.
