Book excerpt: Every Christian has a sex life, even if they're not having sex. Sometimes love is muddy and confusing. Sometimes it's beautiful and poetic. But our relationships have the potential to transform us spiritually. Mud & Poetry tells the story of a young man's honest search for God in his messy sex life. Tyler Blanski dates girls. He reads what old monks and romantics say about love. He even takes a yearlong vow of celibacy in hopes of finding out how God uses dating, sex, and marriage--or singleness and waiting--to awaken and perfect us. Christian relationships and sexuality aren't for prudes, Blanski says. They are for people who long to become what they were created to be: reflections of God.

Book The Religion of Chiropractic

Download or read book The Religion of Chiropractic written by Holly Folk and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2017-03-13 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chiropractic is by far the most common form of alternative medicine in the United States today, but its fascinating origins stretch back to the battles between science and religion in the nineteenth century. At the center of the story are chiropractic's colorful founders, D. D. Palmer and his son, B. J. Palmer, of Davenport, Iowa, where in 1897 they established the Palmer College of Chiropractic. Holly Folk shows how the Palmers' system depicted chiropractic as a conduit for both material and spiritualized versions of a "vital principle," reflecting popular contemporary therapies and nineteenth-century metaphysical beliefs, including the idea that the spine was home to occult forces. The creation of chiropractic, and other Progressive-era versions of alternative medicine, happened at a time when the relationship between science and religion took on an urgent, increasingly competitive tinge. Many remarkable people, including the Palmers, undertook highly personal reinterpretations of their physical and spiritual worlds. In this context, Folk reframes alternative medicine and spirituality as a type of populist intellectual culture in which ideologies about the body comprise a highly appealing form of cultural resistance.

Download or read book Sexy Christians written by Dr. Ted Roberts and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2010-03-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sexy Christians." The phrase sounds like an oxymoron, but God never intended it to be. Sexual fulfillment is, in fact, God's idea. Yet many Christians seem to think the more spiritual they are, the less sexual they will be, and the more sexual they are, the less spiritual they will be. Dr. Ted and Diane Roberts want to turn this thinking on its head. Readers will learn why men and women see sex differently, what the greatest aphrodisiac is, and how to avoid the most lethal killer to a great sex life. The authors also explore what men's and women's sexual needs are and why they are so different, what sex is all about from God's perspective, and what the differences are between male and female sexual response cycles. End-of-chapter questions encourage couples to apply the book's principles at home. Readers and groups can go a step further with the Sexy Christians Workbook. Loaded with additional content, this workbook is designed to challenge couples to explore the rewarding work of intimacy.

Book Sex Positions for Christians

    Book Details:
  • Author : C. H. Thompson
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2018-06-22
  • ISBN : 9781983219597
  • Pages : 158 pages

Download or read book Sex Positions for Christians written by C. H. Thompson and published by . This book was released on 2018-06-22 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am not sure about you, but I am sure that the gift of sexuality given to a husband and wife by God is not meant to become stale or settle into a rut. It is too profound of a blessing to be left unattended or to be discarded as if it does not matter. The honeymoon is not meant to be an end of passion, but a springboard of romance for the lifetime of a marriage. I decided to write this challenging book to encourage Christians to honor the marriage bed and also to provide a nudity free resource to further the intimacy of husbands and wives in search of different sexual positions to try without having to expose themselves to the nudity of secular resources. This is not a man's book and it is not a woman's book. It takes two to tango and a husband and wife will have to come to agreement to benefit from this book. Creativity must be embraced, submission to each other, and love must be kindled once again. The book begins with devotionals on love from a Biblical perspective that can help a couple be closer to God and also to one another. The type of love discussed with questions after each day sets the mood for intimacy that will last. This is the same book as Becoming One Flesh Volume 1 by the same author as he desired to make a black and white version that was cheaper.

This book was released on 1989 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Sandgren, drawing heavily upon oral evidence, reveals that the twentieth century Kikuyu encounter with Christianity produced a series of religious and culturally based conflicts, which in time caused deep, serious, and irreconcilable divisions in their society. At the center of these conflicts were the differing and increasingly antagonistic points of view that grew among three groups: missionaries of the Africa Inland Mission (AIM), the Aregi or those who refused to accept AIM authority and the Kirore loyalists to the mission. By mid-century, these conflicts, central to the Kikuyu society, played a role in the Mau Mau rebellion.

Book When Sex Was Religion

Download or read book When Sex Was Religion written by Larry Falls and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evidence of the connection between sex and religion can be found in fertility cults in all nations of the past. When Sex Was Religion takes a comprehensive look at how sexual practices were originally considered a religion before the introduction of Christianity. Dr. Larry Falls, a registered clinical sexologist specializing in sexual abuse trauma and emotional health, spent five years traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe learning about different religions, cultural history, and sexual behavior while working on his doctoral thesis. In his fascinating exploration into the beginning of human reason and the birth of religious thought includes the importance of reproduction, virgins and temple prostitutes, the original meaning of the cross, Devil worship, witches' Sabbath, and the curse of the evil eye. Dr. Falls also proves that the Kama Sutra, an ancient Hindu religious narrative about pleasure, love, and sexuality was really a Bible designed for the purpose of teaching others to gain favor from the gods by engaging in sexual intercourse. Dr. Falls' examination into sex worship demonstrates that phallic reverence was not only a religion, but also a cause for dominance and sexual exploitation that, to this day, remains part of our social structure.

Book excerpt: India, once a major civilizational and economic power that suffered centuries of decline, is now newly resurgent in business, geopolitics and culture. However, a powerful counterforce within the American academy is systematically undermining core icons and ideals of Indic culture and thought. For instance, scholars of this counterforce have disparaged the Bhagavad Gita as a dishonest book ; declared Ganesha s trunk a limpphallus ; classified Devi as the mother with apenis and Shiva as a notorious womanizer who incites violence in India.
