Kailash Manasarovar:A Sacred Journey dwells on this question and perceives the possibility for the three stages of inner transformation during the journey, using the Devi Mahatmayam as a metaphor. The journey shows that it takes just a shift in perspective to behold the divine in the mundane. By eroding the conditioning of our essence, the journey helps us connect with a pure centre, marking the beginning of interactions which are actions, rather than mere reactions to situations. From this point on, it is in maintaining a heightened awareness of one?s emotions, memories, surroundings and companions that makes the journey more meaningful.

In order to understand the importance of holy Mt Kailash it is necessary to know that it is considered the legendary abode of the gods. In this spot I started to understand the difference between the world that I was coming from and the one that was standing before me. This is without doubt the most beautiful spot on Earth. This is Shambala! These were moments of great happiness, when all the struggles of travelling are forgotten and replaced by sheer joy. This is the physical and spiritual climax of the pilgrimage because the Drolma La pass is considered the most holy spot on the trail and arrival there marks the beginning of a completely new life.

Book The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the 21st Century

Download or read book The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the 21st Century written by Gordon Brown and published by Open Book Publishers. This book was released on 2016-04-18 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Global Citizenship Commission was convened, under the leadership of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the auspices of NYU’s Global Institute for Advanced Study, to re-examine the spirit and stirring words of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The result – this volume – offers a 21st-century commentary on the original document, furthering the work of human rights and illuminating the ideal of global citizenship. What does it mean for each of us to be members of a global community? Since 1948, the Declaration has stood as a beacon and a standard for a better world. Yet the work of making its ideals real is far from over. Hideous and systemic human rights abuses continue to be perpetrated at an alarming rate around the world. Too many people, particularly those in power, are hostile to human rights or indifferent to their claims. Meanwhile, our global interdependence deepens. Bringing together world leaders and thinkers in the fields of politics, ethics, and philosophy, the Commission set out to develop a common understanding of the meaning of global citizenship – one that arises from basic human rights and empowers every individual in the world. This landmark report affirms the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and seeks to renew the 1948 enterprise, and the very ideal of the human family, for our day and generation.

Download or read book Dakshayni written by Dr. Aruna Mukim and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this novel | have tried to give a blend of mythology and the perineal values and emotions of the human beings. The characters here have been chosen from the pauranik literature and yet feelings and reactions they express are germane to what we find in all human beings. At the thematic level the central point of the novel presents the love between shiv and sati. It is related to the protection of the divinity and spirituality in the universe. It suggests the union between two forces — Shiv and Shakti. The essential elements in a cosmic planning. lf shiv is a great lover then Sati too is not wanting in longing for his love. However as it is sati’s father, great Prajapathi Daksh, the son of Brahma keeps an umbrage against shiv. He abhors shiv and Is openly against the matrimonial alliance between his daughter sati and shiv. From the very beginning sati knows that shiv is her eternal spouse. But Prajapathi Daksh is bent upon destroying this relationship. However by quirk of fate sati is married to shiv. Not withstanding all resistance, Daksh is compelled to give his daughter away to the person he dislikes most, Shiv. Deeply hurt Daksh is now looking for a chance to insult his son in law when he arranges a yagya and doesn't invite them. Sati burns her out there in yog Agni. | have presented this so repeated story from a different angle. The first person narration here has been used for the expansion of philosophy and thought that result in giving a contemporary canvas. | have visualised myself as Sati for exploring the in-depth feelings and emotions of a woman. The use of the montage technique has allowed me to pick up some stories from countless stories of shiv and sati and put them into an imaginative, an unputdownable literary piece.

Book excerpt: Follow a multi-faceted journey by an improviser and a musicosopher, Eric Antoni, from the cobbled streets of Paris to the Far East. Musical Mosaic lays coherent excursus of the author’s thought-provoking collection of anecdotes. With the absence of lengthy verbiage of a political-social-economic nature, the book is full of compassionate truthful descriptions of persons and experiences and written with total objectivity, brevity, originality, and musical creativity as inspired by the sense of tonality, throughout the history of music in Europe, since Monteverdi, and all over the world nowadays. As a text that is "musico-sophical" instead of being "musico-logical," it is inspired by the founder of phenomenology, Edmund Husserl (1859–1938), and his philosophical seizure of consciousness. It discusses the author’s journey in the world of music and describes "musical consciousness" and the ways in which it moves and works within us. The book presents to the readers the author’s account of the composers he met along the way (Slamet Sjukur, Giacinto Scelsi) and the composers who are currently active (Jean-François Laporte, Pierre Michaud, Myriam Boucher, George Benjamin), along with historical narratives that center around Monteverdi, Bach, Ravel, Debussy, and Bartók. It underlines the interrogations held by today’s musicians in light of yesterday’s mutations. With this book, the author would like to reach out to composers, performers, and music lovers and contribute towards opening them to the scope of experimentation in music and in the world of sound, all of which keep on becoming more expansive and more intensely conscious.

Book excerpt: Indian Theatre expands the boundaries of what is usually regarded as theatre in order to explore the multiple dimensions of theatrical performance in India. From rural festivals to contemporary urban theatre, from dramatic rituals and devotional performances to dance-dramas and classical Sanskrit plays, this volume is a vivid introduction to the colourful and often surprising world of Indian performance. Besides mapping the vast range of performance traditions, the volume provides in-depth treatment of representative genres, including well-known forms such as Kathakali and ram lila and little-knowa performances such as tamasha. Each of these chapters explains the historical background of the theatre form under consideration and interprets its dramatic literature, probes its ritual or religious significance, and, where relevant, explores its social and political implications. Moreover, each chapter, except for those on the origins of Indian theatre, concludes with performance notes describing the actual experience of seeing a live performance in its original context. Based on extensive fieldwork, Indian Theatre is the first comprehensive account of the subject to be written by Western specialists and addressed to the needs of readers in the West. It will be a valuable resource for all students of Indian culture and a standard work in the history of theatre and performance for years to come.
