Book The Geometry of Hessian Structures

Download or read book The Geometry of Hessian Structures written by Hirohiko Shima and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The geometry of Hessian structures is a fascinating emerging field of research. It is in particular a very close relative of K„hlerian geometry, and connected with many important pure mathematical branches such as affine differential geometry, homogeneous spaces and cohomology. The theory also finds deep relation to information geometry in applied mathematics. This systematic introduction to the subject first develops the fundamentals of Hessian structures on the basis of a certain pair of a flat connection and a Riemannian metric, and then describes these related fields as applications of the theory.

Book Deformation Quantization for Actions of Kahlerian Lie Groups

Download or read book Deformation Quantization for Actions of Kahlerian Lie Groups written by Pierre Bieliavsky and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let B be a Lie group admitting a left-invariant negatively curved Kählerian structure. Consider a strongly continuous action of B on a Fréchet algebra . Denote by the associated Fréchet algebra of smooth vectors for this action. In the Abelian case BR and isometric, Marc Rieffel proved that Weyl's operator symbol composition formula (the so called Moyal product) yields a deformation through Fréchet algebra structures R on . When is a -algebra, every deformed Fréchet algebra admits a compatible pre- -structure, hence yielding a deformation theory at the level of -algebras too. In this memoir, the authors prove both analogous statements for general negatively curved Kählerian groups. The construction relies on the one hand on combining a non-Abelian version of oscillatory integral on tempered Lie groups with geom, etrical objects coming from invariant WKB-quantization of solvable symplectic symmetric spaces, and, on the second hand, in establishing a non-Abelian version of the Calderón-Vaillancourt Theorem. In particular, the authors give an oscillating kernel formula for WKB-star products on symplectic symmetric spaces that fiber over an exponential Lie group.

Book Almost Complex And Complex Structures

Download or read book Almost Complex And Complex Structures written by Chuan-chih Hsiung and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-08-31 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a self-contained fundamental study of the subject. Besides the following special features it contains the author's detailed solution to the long-standing unsolved problem in the theory of complex manifolds: Does there exist a complex structure on the six-sphere? The special features of the book are: a classification of almost complex (and similarly, almost Hermitian) structures together with inclusion relations; discussions about various known almost Hermitian structures; a necessary and sufficient condition for a general almost Hermitian manifold to have constant holomorphic sectional (or bisectional) curvature and similar conditions for various special almost Hermitian manifolds; some complex Laplacians together with some of their relationships with the real Laplacian; the spectral geometry of Riemannian manifolds and some general almost Hermitian manifolds including Kählerian manifolds as a special case; conditions for an almost complex structure to be a complex structure; some vanishing theorems for Riemannian and almost Hermitian manifolds.

Book Handbook of Differential Geometry

Download or read book Handbook of Differential Geometry written by Franki J.E. Dillen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-11-29 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the series of volumes which together will constitute the "Handbook of Differential Geometry" we try to give a rather complete survey of the field of differential geometry. The different chapters will both deal with the basic material of differential geometry and with research results (old and recent). All chapters are written by experts in the area and contain a large bibliography. In this second volume a wide range of areas in the very broad field of differential geometry is discussed, as there are Riemannian geometry, Lorentzian geometry, Finsler geometry, symplectic geometry, contact geometry, complex geometry, Lagrange geometry and the geometry of foliations. Although this does not cover the whole of differential geometry, the reader will be provided with an overview of some its most important areas.. Written by experts and covering recent research. Extensive bibliography. Dealing with a diverse range of areas. Starting from the basics

Book Fundamental Groups of Compact Kahler Manifolds

Download or read book Fundamental Groups of Compact Kahler Manifolds written by Jaume Amorós and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an exposition of what is currently known about the fundamental groups of compact Kähler manifolds. This class of groups contains all finite groups and is strictly smaller than the class of all finitely presentable groups. For the first time ever, this book collects together all the results obtained in the last few years which aim to characterize those infinite groups which can arise as fundamental groups of compact Kähler manifolds. Most of these results are negative ones, saying which groups don not arise. The methods and techniques used form an attractive mix of topology, differential and algebraic geometry, and complex analysis. The book would be useful to researchers and graduate students interested in any of these areas, and it could be used as a textbook for an advanced graduate course. One of its outstanding features is a large number of concrete examples. The book contains a number of new results and examples which have not appeared elsewhere, as well as discussions of some important open questions in the field.

Download or read book Complex Manifolds written by Steven Bell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-12-11 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The articles in this volume were written to commemorate Reinhold Remmert's 60th birthday in June, 1990. They are surveys, meant to facilitate access to some of the many aspects of the theory of complex manifolds, and demonstrate the interplay between complex analysis and many other branches of mathematics, algebraic geometry, differential topology, representations of Lie groups, and mathematical physics being only the most obvious of these branches. Each of these articles should serve not only to describe the particular circle of ideas in complex analysis with which it deals but also as a guide to the many mathematical ideas related to its theme.

Book An Introduction to Extremal Kahler Metrics

Download or read book An Introduction to Extremal Kahler Metrics written by Gábor Székelyhidi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2014-06-19 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A basic problem in differential geometry is to find canonical metrics on manifolds. The best known example of this is the classical uniformization theorem for Riemann surfaces. Extremal metrics were introduced by Calabi as an attempt at finding a higher-dimensional generalization of this result, in the setting of Kähler geometry. This book gives an introduction to the study of extremal Kähler metrics and in particular to the conjectural picture relating the existence of extremal metrics on projective manifolds to the stability of the underlying manifold in the sense of algebraic geometry. The book addresses some of the basic ideas on both the analytic and the algebraic sides of this picture. An overview is given of much of the necessary background material, such as basic Kähler geometry, moment maps, and geometric invariant theory. Beyond the basic definitions and properties of extremal metrics, several highlights of the theory are discussed at a level accessible to graduate students: Yau's theorem on the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics, the Bergman kernel expansion due to Tian, Donaldson's lower bound for the Calabi energy, and Arezzo-Pacard's existence theorem for constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics on blow-ups.

Book Symplectic Manifolds with no Kaehler structure

Download or read book Symplectic Manifolds with no Kaehler structure written by Alesky Tralle and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a research monograph covering the majority of known results on the problem of constructing compact symplectic manifolds with no Kaehler structure with an emphasis on the use of rational homotopy theory. In recent years, some new and stimulating conjectures and problems have been formulated due to an influx of homotopical ideas. Examples include the Lupton-Oprea conjecture, the Benson-Gordon conjecture, both of which are in the spirit of some older and still unsolved problems (e.g. Thurston's conjecture and Sullivan's problem). Our explicit aim is to clarify the interrelations between certain aspects of symplectic geometry and homotopy theory in the framework of the problems mentioned above. We expect that the reader is aware of the basics of differential geometry and algebraic topology at graduate level.
