Book Foreign Workers and Law Enforcement in Japan

Download or read book Foreign Workers and Law Enforcement in Japan written by Wolfgang Herbert and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-11-01 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a detailed study of the extent to which an increased influx of foreign workers is a threat to law and order in the context of the data-generating process of police statistics and the media coverage of "crimes" committed by foreigners. It shows that a general mood in which foreign workers are viewed as potential danger to Japanese society "protects" the criminalization of foreign "illegal" migrant workers. The work begins by tracing the upsurge of "illegal" foreign workers in Japan. It builds a social profile of these "illegals" showing that because of fear of expulsion, lack of knowledge of the law and over-dependence on employer and workplace, their ability to avail themselves off the protection of the law is neglible, and they are always at risk of becoming victims to multiple exploitation.

Book New Challenges in Organic Electrochemistry

Download or read book New Challenges in Organic Electrochemistry written by Tetsuo Osa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-03-23 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph will clearly depict much of the current, leading research into the reactions and properties of organic and bioorganic materials in which electron transfer plays an important role. Organic electrochemistry is increasingly expanding to various interdisciplinary fields and is of major interest to a growing number of researchers and engineers. The contents of this book emphasize the scope of the reaction field at the electrode interface, specifically, electrogenerated active species, new mediatory reactions, and new trends in organic electrochemistry. Many of the results demonstrated in these reports may have broad applications to the development of science and new technologies. The twenty contributing authors are all active researchers in organic electrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, electrocoordination chemistry, or electroanalytical chemistry.

Book Physico Chemical Principles of Color Chemistry

Download or read book Physico Chemical Principles of Color Chemistry written by A.T. Peters and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of this series of volumes on Color Chemistry, the editors pointed to a number of events that have served as stimuli for techno logical advances in the field, thus preventing dyestuff manufacturing from becoming what might otherwise be viewed by now as a 'sunset industry'. The volumes which followed have provided ample evidence for our belief that the field of colour chemistry is very much alive, though arguably in need of further stimulus. For instance, a viable approach to the design of new chromophores and to the design of metal-free acid, direct, and reactive dyes having fastness properties comparable to their metallized counterparts represent the kind of breakthroughs that would help ensure the continued success of this important field. While it must be acknowledged that serendipity 'smiled' on our discipline at its inception and has repeated the favor from time to time since then, few would argue against the proposition that most of the significant advances in the technology associated with any scientific discipline result from research designed to enhance our understanding of the fundamental causes for experimental observations, many of which are pursued because they are unexpected, intriguing and intellectually stimulating. Little reflection is required for one who knows the history of the dyestuff industry to realize that this is certainly true in the colour chemistry arena, as it was basic research that led to fiber-reactive dyes, dyes for high technology, and modern synthetic organic pigments.

Book Polyvinylchloride 2

Download or read book Polyvinylchloride 2 written by A. Guyot and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polyvinylchloride - 2 (Lyon - Villeurbanne, 1976) is a collection of lectures presented at the Second International Symposium on Polyvinylchloride, held in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France on July 5-9, 1976. This book is divided into seven chapters and begins with a survey of chemical modifications for improved mechanical properties and thermal stability of polyvinylchloride (PVC), including crosslinking chlorination, graft polymerization, and stabilization. The subsequent chapters examine the solution properties, rheology, processing, and structure of PVC. These topics are followed by discussions of the effect of some defects on static strength and the stress-cracking resistance of rigid PVC, as well as the heat and light stabilization of PVC, particularly the mode of action of stabilizers. The final chapter considers the thermal decomposition and combustion mechanisms of PVC. This book will prove useful to polymer chemists, researchers, and students.

Book Immobilization on Polymers

Download or read book Immobilization on Polymers written by M.I. Shtilman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-01-06 with total page 360 pages.
