Download or read book Lady of the North written by Fred Blom and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-03-15 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter how many people there are in the world, there is a different path for everyone! I want you to come with me! Please, it's important! Imagine if you will that it is possible for others to learn from you. Some paths may be similar while other can be almost unexplainable. Is it possible for your pet to teach you, protect you, and, I mean, even to the point of true values? Let's just suppose that there is a greater good out there. Let's say that if you open your heart, your mind, and perhaps your soul to the possibility that you find something that few have? Let's also say that just because something bad or maybe to your dislike happens to you that you don't just throw it out but learn and grow from it, like for example, a parent's discipline to a child? Compare this to that which is greater than you and to whom you could become? For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. (Luke 12:2) The question we will seek to understand is, Is it possible to have things like objects or animals or perhaps events placed on our path of life to help us or instruct us? Perhaps a collie dog that was more than a pet? The Word of God has ninety-nine Bible passages that reflect that he would raise up the stones to praise him if the people would not. Why not a collie dog? Why not the teachings, craftiness, and senses of such? Do you have a pet? Can you learn from your pet? Can you learn from your surroundings and those that cross your path for just a moment? There are so many different things that we just take for granted. We probably don't mean to, but life just happens. I have at many times taken the time to try a little harder to see things around me, to try to listen a little better, to have a calm temperament and the devotion that my dog, Lady, showed to me. She obviously didn't raise me, but I give her the credit for a lot of what I have become. Now I personally believe she was placed by God in my life and that she was a glory to God. Be kind to your pet!

Download or read book Leon Russell written by Bill Janovitz and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive New York Times bestselling biography of legendary musician, composer, and performer Leon Russell, who profoudly influenced George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, and the world of music as a whole. Leon Russell is an icon, but somehow is still an underappreciated artist. He is spoken of in tones reserved not just for the most talented musicians, but also for the most complex and fascinating. His career is like a roadmap of music history, often intersecting with rock royalty like Bob Dylan, the Stones, and the Beatles. He started in the Fifties as a teenager touring with Jerry Lee Lewis, going on to play piano on records by such giants as Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, and Phil Spector, and on hundreds of classic songs with major recording artists. Leon was Elton John’s idol, and Elton inducted him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Leon also gets credit for altering Willie Nelson’s career, giving us the long-haired, pot-friendly Willie we all know and love today. In his prime, Leon filled stadiums on solo tours, and was an organizer/performer on both Joe Cocker’s revolutionary Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour and George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh. Leon also founded Shelter Records in 1969 with producer Denny Cordell, discovering and releasing the debut albums of Tom Petty, the Gap Band, Phoebe Snow, and J.J. Cale. Leon always assembled wildly diverse bands and performances, fostering creative and free atmospheres for musicians to live and work together. He brazenly challenged musical and social barriers. However, Russell also struggled with his demons, including substance abuse, severe depression, and a crippling stage fright that wreaked havoc on his psyche over the long haul and at times seemed to will himself into obscurity. Now, acclaimed author and founding member of Buffalo Tom, Bill Janovitz shines the spotlight on one of the most important music makers of the twentieth century.

Book excerpt: Max By: Dutch Medford The idea for this book came in the form of a dream that spurred the author into writing “Max,” a spellbinding tale of a man finding a 7’ tall black metal statue and a small black box made of the same unique material in a debris mound in a strangely formed gulch in Colorado. Later he discovers that the little black box was the power source that brought the statue to life. This is the story of David and Max’s fearful first encounter and their eventual bond of friendship that leads the two to journey through the dark side of our Government’s power and determination to capture the alien and David with the goal to discover and take position of the two alien crafts, hidden somewhere in a chamber in the Colorado mountains. This is book one of two books planned in this series. Warning, once you start reading this book, you will not want to put it down.

Book excerpt: I have a question. Has anyone ever really looked into the seriousness of a broken heart? What mental and emotional instability a person goes through when someone has simply had their heart torn to shreds by a goodbye? People are always saying “move on”, or -”get on with your life”, or -“he is not worth it”, but what if she thinks deep down that he just might have been worth it? Poor circumstances, the wrong place at the wrong time, the planets out of alignment, kismet, whatever phrase you want to put on it; it hurts and there are some people that simply do not get over it. My account is about that someone who did not get over it.

Download or read book Remnants of an Empire written by Shurmer-Smith, Pamela and published by Gadsden Publishers. This book was released on 2015-02-07 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Zambia became Independent in 1964, the white colonial population did not suddenly evaporate. Some had supported Independence, others had virulently opposed it, but all had to reappraise their nationality, residence and careers. A few became Zambian citizens and many more chose to stay while without committing themselves. But most of the colonial population eventually trickled out of the country to start again elsewhere. Pamela Charmer-Smith has traced survivors of this population to discover how new lives where constructed and new perspectives generated. Her account draws on the power of postcolonial memory to understand the many ways that copper miners, district officers, school-children and housewives became the empires relics. Her work is not that of a dispassionate outsider but of one who grew up in Northern Rhodesia, knew its colonial population and has considerable affection for Zambia.

Book excerpt: “A funny and satisfying love story [that] challenges simplistic preconceptions.” —Publishers Weekly Beckett Gaines, a gay teen living in South Carolina, has his world turned upside-down by a jock in this laugh-out-loud novel that’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda meets The Parent Trap. Beck: The Golden Girls-loving, out-and-proud choir nerd growing up in the “ass-crack of the Bible belt.” Jax: The Golden Boy, star quarterback with a slick veneer facing uncomfortable truths about himself and his past. When Beck’s emotionally fragile dad starts dating the recently single (and supposedly lesbian) mom of former bully Jaxon Parker, Beck is not having it. Jax isn’t happy about the situation either, holding out hope that his moms will reunite and restore the only stable home he’s ever known. Putting aside past differences, the boys plot to derail the budding romance between their parents at their conservative hometown’s first-ever Rainbow Prom. Hearts will be broken, new romance will bloom, but nothing will go down the way Beck and Jax have planned. In his hilarious and provocative debut, Greg Howard examines the challenges of growing up different in a small southern town through the lens of colorful and unforgettable characters who stay with you long after the last drop of sweet tea.
