Book The Yorkshire Pudding Club

Download or read book The Yorkshire Pudding Club written by Milly Johnson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2008-10-15 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Sunday Times bestseller comes a heartwarming and uplifting story of how three women find themselves empowered by unexpected pregnancies 'Every time you discover a new Milly book, it’s like finding a pot of gold' heat Three South Yorkshire friends, all on the cusp of 40, fall pregnant at the same time following a visit to an ancient fertility symbol. For Helen, it's a dream come true, although her husband is not as thrilled about it as she had hoped. Not only wrestling with painful ghosts of the past, Helen has to deal with the fact that her outwardly perfect marriage is crumbling before her eyes. For Janey, it is an unmitigated disaster as she has just been offered the career break of a life-time. And she has no idea either how it could possibly have happened, seeing as she and her ecstatic husband George were always so careful over contraception. For Elizabeth, it is mind-numbing, because she knows people like her shouldn't have children. Damaged by her dysfunctional childhood and emotionally lost, she not only has to contend with carrying a child she doubts she can ever love, but she also has to deal with the return to her life of a man whose love she must deny herself. Praise for Milly Johnson: 'A glorious, heartfelt novel' Rowan Coleman ‘Absolutely loved it. Milly's writing is like getting a big hug with just the right amount of bite underneath. I was rooting for Bonnie from the start' Jane Fallon ‘Bursting with warmth and joie de vivre’ Jill Mansell ‘Warm, optimistic and romantic’ Katie Fforde

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a journey. A journey of creating magic with children. It sheds light on why creating Magic for children is important. It is about a journey into the realm of children whose innocence is taken from them far too soon. It is about smiles and laughter and secrets and perhaps a little magic that results in believing. Believing for a moment longer or if we are lucky, another year. Or if we really believe perhaps that magic can last a lifetime. But this story is about so much more. It is about what children gave me as I evolved into being a Santa Claus. It is about how I became a much better person. It is a story about how I gained insight and understanding in the power of believing, even when believing seems impossible.

Book The Right Sort of Girl

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anita's debut novel Baby Does a Runner is available to pre-order now - coming July 2023! Fizzing with energy, hilarity and charm, The Right Sort of Girl is the Sunday Times bestseller from Countryfile's Anita Rani. 'Warm, honest and funny, filled with hope and inspiration' Nikesh Shukla 'Funny, touching, occasionally veering into beautifully controlled, quiet rage... a must-read' Viv Groskop 'Like a bloody good natter with your down-to-earth friend' Shappi Khorsandi 'A joy from start to finish' Emma Kennedy 'Empowering... I will be recommending to everyone I know' Nikita Gill 'I'm a girl and northern and brown, didn't you know? A triple threat!' Trying to navigate her Indian world at home and the British world outside her front door, Anita Rani was a girl who didn't fit in anywhere. She was always destined to stand out: from playing Mary in her otherwise all white nursery nativity to growing up in eighties Yorkshire with her Punjabi family, spending evenings in the factory her parents owned whilst trying to figure out how best to get rid of hair that seemed to be growing EVERYWHERE. Anita shares the lessons she wishes her younger self could have known: 'Freedom is Complicated', 'You Will Fall in Love and Be Loved' and, most importantly, 'Your Anger is Legitimate'. How did she manage to become the powerhouse she is, whilst battling against being too white inside her home and too brown outside of it? This story of a second-generation British Indian woman up north is also a tale of tenacity and a life lived with positivity and humour. If you have ever felt alone, different, or just not the right sort of girl, this is the book for you.

Never mind that she escaped Yorkshire at the first chance to secure a more glittering match in London and that the only matrimonial prospect back home is her childhood playmate, Willelm. A Christmas house party with pudding, games, charades, riding, and carols turns out to be just the thing to remind Juliana of how much she loves Yorkshire. But when her nostalgia slips into love, will she be able to admit that Willelm knows the longings of her heart better than she knows her own?

Book Yorkshire s Murderous Women

Download or read book Yorkshire s Murderous Women written by Stephen Wade and published by Casemate Publishers. This book was released on 2007-06-15 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historical accounts of Englishwomen who have killed, their varying motives, and their final fates. Yorkshire history has its share of nasty and brutal murders, and the majority of these killers have been men. Statistics show that most homicides are men. But the records over the centuries have tales of murderous women too. Stephen Wade has investigated records across England to find stories of women from the mid-eighteenth century to mid-twentieth century who have taken lives through jealousy, hatred, or sheer desperation. Some of the tales are sad, melancholy accounts of infanticide committed in hard times, often when women were under terrible stress and suffering from poor health and mental problems. Other stories are about murders that got rid of an unwanted partner or brought some easy money to the killer’s pockets. You’ll also find accounts of courtroom trials that went wrong and false accusations, along with verdicts that sent women to Van Diemen’s Land or to prison for life. Here are some of the most dramatic stories of women who killed—including Louie Calvert, serial killer; the Beverley case of extreme cruelty on a child; and the Hull wife who wanted her husband out of the way for good. Includes illustrations and photos
