Book excerpt: Blake Habers hated Indians, especially the tribe his sister lived with. He forced her to come home with him. But Amanda had other plans that involved her lawyer, Gentry Fox. Though he couldn't help her with her problem, he knew someone who could. Shawna dreaded hearing from her cousin. For it always meant trouble, for her. Leaving preparations for the cattle drive in her foreman's hands, she and Joshua went to deal with Gentry for the last time. Once there, things became more complicated. Namely because of who Amanda's husband turned out to be. Desert Wolf was in search of his wife. But after years of believing she was dead, he was dreaming of his first love, Little Eagle. Suddenly, all his deeply buried feelings for the sultry chief consumed him. Was this a sign she was alive and searching for him? Should he leave his wife for her? Would Little Eagle become his regardless of everything? Of all his questions, this he wanted to know most of all. Kali Ickier had something in common with Shawna, but that didn't stop Desert Wolf from wanting her. Still on the run, the girl reluctantly joins the Kanes in their travels. Knowing her husband's desires, Amanda tries to sway the girl into marriage. But another Indian has other plans for her.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julie's Story, 'My Life With Lupus', sums up the challenges and struggles of a young woman's life in dealing with the very unpredictable disease, Lupus. Julie was a young and energetic twenty- four- year- old woman with her whole life ahead of her. Planning the wedding of her dreams to her college sweetheart and finishing her Master's degree in Social Work, life couldn't get any better! Although life was headed in the right direction for Julie, her health had other plans. Julie began noticing vague symptoms which became bothersome to her studies. She hesitated to voice these problems due to the fact 'she looked fine on the outside'. For a year, Julie dealt with ongoing fatigue and pain which was attributed to the stress of planning a wedding and working toward a master's degree. Eventually, the symptoms worsened and Julie needed to seek medical attention. What would the doctors tell her? How would she react? Ten years later, Julie is talking about how she coped through the challenges and got through the difficult days in dealing with lupus. "Life is a rollercoaster", Julie says. "It has its ups and downs, but you just have to take one day at a time. I feel God has blessed me with Lupus, so that I can reach out to others. My life could be a whole lot worse, and I've seen a whole lot worse". Julie's Story, 'My Life With Lupus' has been written for all of those who suffer from an autoimmune disease. Especially the great friends I've made along the way. Some of the proceeds of this book will be donated to the Lupus Foundation to help find a cure for this very unpredictable, life-threatening disease!

There were some days before my treatment started that I just wanted to stay in bed because my joints caused me too much pain. Through the support of some amazing doctors and my family I discovered there can be a wonderful life during and after lupus and that healthy babies can be born to mothers with Lupus. Wonderful progress has been made in the treatment of this disease and it is my hope and prayer that some day medical researchers will find a cure.

Book Lupus My Constant Companion and Greatest Inspiration

Download or read book Lupus My Constant Companion and Greatest Inspiration written by Julie Desbarats and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-23 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 2008, after a year of pain and confusion in my body. When I first heard of my diagnosis I felt extremely vulnerable, broken, lost and helpless. I desperately looked for messages of inspiration and hope as far as my new diagnosis was concerned but I was unsuccessful. Over time though, armed with more awareness about lupus, I realized that almost every side effect of the disease and the medications could be managed (and counteracted in some cases), and I began to feel like I could regain much of the energetic life I once had. Since lupus is based on inflammation, I learned of the triggers that cause inflammation at a physical, emotional and even spiritual level and started to put together an action plan to restore balance back into my body. This enabled me to regain a sense of confidence and I began to work more effectively with my doctors and care team to create a wellness plan for me, which was a great source of empowerment. Having lived through a complete transformation from weakness to empowerment and even gaining a deep sense of gratitude for all that lupus has inspired in my life, I wanted to share everything I have learned, in an objective way by allowing the reader to follow me on my journey. I have listed every bad judgment as well as every success through my experience as a way to support self-discovery in others touched by lupus. I'm a firm believer that we need to be our biggest advocates and having all the information around us, empowers us to make better decisions toward our own well-being. By sharing my journey, I hope others can avoid a lot of the fear, panic, confusion and despair that often comes with this diagnosis. I also hope to relay an alternate perspective about facing chronic illness: in my experience, lupus has shaped me in ways I never imagined and through it I have a deeper sense of inner peace and balance and I sincerely look to my lupus as being my greatest inspiration. I hope to be that message of inspiration and hope that I looked for, unsuccessfully, when I was first diagnosed.

Book Through the Shadowlands

Download or read book Through the Shadowlands written by Julie Rehmeyer and published by Rodale Books. This book was released on 2017-05-23 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julie Rehmeyer felt like she was going to the desert to die. Julie fully expected to be breathing at the end of the trip—but driving into Death Valley felt like giving up, surrendering. She’d spent years battling a mysterious illness so extreme that she often couldn’t turn over in her bed. The top specialists in the world were powerless to help, and research on her disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, was at a near standstill. Having exhausted the plausible ideas, Julie turned to an implausible one. Going against both her instincts and her training as a science journalist and mathematician, she followed the advice of strangers she’d met on the Internet. Their theory—that mold in her home and possessions was making her sick—struck her as wacky pseudoscience. But they had recovered from chronic fatigue syndrome as severe as hers. To test the theory that toxic mold was making her sick, Julie drove into the desert alone, leaving behind everything she owned. She wasn’t even certain she was well enough to take care of herself once she was there. She felt stripped not only of the life she’d known, but any future she could imagine. With only her scientific savvy, investigative journalism skills, and dog, Frances, to rely on, Julie carved out her own path to wellness—and uncovered how shocking scientific neglect and misconduct had forced her and millions of others to go it alone. In stunning prose, she describes how her illness transformed her understanding of science, medicine, and spirituality. Through the Shadowlands brings scientific authority to a misunderstood disease and spins an incredible and compelling story of tenacity, resourcefulness, acceptance, and love.
