Book Life s Joy Killers and Joy Makers

Download or read book Life s Joy Killers and Joy Makers written by LaVon Koerner and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-09-11 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christ said, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11). A joy-filled person is the best advertisement Christ has for a joyless world to consider his loving offer of salvation. The second fruit of the Spirit (joy) makes one an inspirational and infectious person to be around, whether you are a marriage partner, a business leader, or a next-door neighbor. The way Christ wants to accomplish this in and for us is through his two-step process as outlined in Colossians 3: •Step One: “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you” (Col 3:5). We will refer to this as the removal of a Joy Killer. •Step Two: “Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge” (Col 3:10). We will refer to this as a Joy Maker. Each chapter is divided into these two steps. First, it begins with a removal of a Joy Killer and it is immediately followed with its replacement of a Joy Maker. With each chapter, you find an increasingly deep and rewarding joy as you pitch your tent one day closer to eternity.

Book excerpt: What's stealing your joy? Are you dealing with marriage problems, painful relationships, disobedient children, health concerns, financial struggles, or just the daily stresses and strains of life? Regardless of our circumstances, it's true that in Christ we have everything we need for joy—the forgiveness of our sins, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, a purpose worth living for, and the assurance of eternity with God. But whether we actually live with joy or allow something to take it from us is a choice each of us makes every day. Living with joy is a decision we make again and again as we're continually faced with joy stealers such as worry, bitterness, guilt, negativity, and bitterness. Pastor and author Rob Renfroe addresses these common joy stealers and suggests how we can overcome them by making five simple yet transformational decisions that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, will enable us to have overflowing joy and be a continual blessing to others. A final chapter on living with joy provides encouragement and help for living in the fullness of God's joy each and every day. Additional components for a six-week study include a comprehensive Leader Guide which includes a link to downloadable video clips that can be used as lead-ins to group discussion.

Book Joy Is a Choice You Can Make Today

Download or read book Joy Is a Choice You Can Make Today written by Kay Warren and published by Revell. This book was released on 2016-01-26 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live a more joyful life--starting today. When trouble comes your way, your first thought probably isn't about joy. More than likely, you feel fear, panic, worry, anger, or even hopelessness. But here's a secret that can change your life: The level of joy you experience on any given day, in any given situation--no matter how challenging it is--is totally up to you. It's not dependent on others--what they do or don't do, how they behave, or what they say. It's not dependent on your circumstances. It cannot be held hostage by pain, disappointment, or grief. Joy is a choice, and no one has exemplified that more than Kay Warren. While this text was written before the death of her son Matthew, the message Kay wants to share with you remains the same--you can choose joy. And if you want to discover how you can make that choice--every day--you've come to the right place. Drawn from the first three chapters of Kay's popular Choose Joy, this little book illuminates the life of Jesus--a life that exhibited great joy despite opposition, sorrow, and pain--showing you that God created you not for a life of struggle, but for a life of joyful relationship with him and with others.

These distinctive roles are not the vestiges of a bygone era, but integral to God’s timeless good design for humanity. Whether discussing the significance of gender, the truth about masculinity and femininity, the blessing of purity, or the challenge of raising children in a confusing world, this practical resource challenges us to embrace God’s good design—for his glory and our joy.

Download or read book Finding Joy written by Joy Melton and published by CrossBooks Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joy Melton knows what the feeling of abandonment does to a child. She was among the millions of fatherless children in this world. A lifetime without the love of a father caused so much pain in her life. The pain lead to fearfulness and she would often doubt herself. She struggled daily with feelings of worthlessness. The scars of rejection in her heart began to turn into resentment and eventually hate toward the dad who had left her. She began the journey to find herself that God laid on her heart. Joy shares the story of her childhood without a daddy, finding the love of her life, and eventually finding her joy. This was not the joy she initially sought after, but it was the joy God wanted her to find. Through her faithfulness to God and following His call for her life, she learned to forget what scarred her past and live with Christ in the present. She learned to forgive the men that walked out of her life, and, in doing so, God granted her peace that flowed abundantly. She let go of what she wanted for herself and saw that what God has for her is so much better. Joy found that God is the one who determines her worth and defines her--not circumstances of the past or struggles of this life. She started out looking for herself and what she found was joy.
