Book excerpt: Preface One out of every 20,000 models makes it successfully in the business. Just 1 and that´s it. These numbers are mind boggling so I decided to write this book in hopes of improving the percentage that do deserve to make it. When I say successful , I mean those that obtained a contract with an agency or long term contract for a specific clothing line. I tried to touch on every aspect of modeling so that you can really get an idea of all that´s out there. There is so much more to modeling then just a camera and a photographer taking a picture. People that don´t know about modeling don´t understand all that must be done before hand. I present to you in this book the tools you will need to achieve success in the business and hopefully something can be picked up by you from this. Even if its one piece of information that you pick up from this book that you can hold on to. My second reason for writing this book is because I remembered in the very beginning of my modeling career I´d walk into a bookstore to try finding modeling resource books.I was always disappointed because there never were any. I remember telling myself , "if I make it big, I´m going to write a book for models and get it on those bookstore shelves." So here I am today giving back to the modeling public what I´ve learned about modeling. I hope you´ll enjoy my 2nd book titled , "Overexposed." Cover photo by Michael Anthony 8x10proofs.com

Book Runway Memoirs

Book excerpt: From the runways of Paris and Milan to the cramped model apartments of Seoul male runway model Nicklas Kingo gives an honest and crass insight to a world that is a lot less glamorous than you think. In his memoir he gives us glance into the bizarre fashion industry through the eyes of a simple bloke who went from an obese teenager to a male model in a short amount of time. Whether you are looking for insight on how to become a model or an exposé of the fashion industry and modeling, this book is for you. "The strongest point of Kingo's writing is definitely the voice. He doesn't hide behind a shield of verbiage, but is consistently authentic and light. Although Kingo has only a few seasons under his belt, I do feel like there is a lot of untapped material that I hope researches the surface soon." – Marko, reader "If you plan on engaging the fashion industry this is a great guide of the good and the bad that comes with that industry. It can be a beautiful industry and a fulfilling journey if you are prepared, and this is surely a great tool." - Daniel G Bak, reader "Fashion, Models, Travel, NYC - Yes, Please! I love the fashion world and literally inhale anything there is to read about it. Interestingly enough, I have not read much from the male model perspective. Author Nicklas Kingo provided a great first memoir. It was honest and intriguing with just a bit of scandal to satisfy the trash tooth. I find it refreshing how honest he can be on staying fit, losing weight, and otherwise fitting the fashion image." - Jody, reader So download "Runway Memoirs" and get an unconventional and entertaining insight into the fashion industry today!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sociologist Ashley Mears takes us behind the brightly lit runways and glossy advertisements of the fashion industry in this insider’s study of the world of modeling. Mears, who worked as a model in New York and London, draws on observations as well as extensive interviews with male and female models, agents, clients, photographers, stylists, and others, to explore the economics and politics—and the arbitrariness— behind the business of glamour. Exploring a largely hidden arena of cultural production, she shows how the right "look" is discovered, developed, and packaged to become a prized commodity. She examines how models sell themselves, how agents promote them, and how clients decide to hire them. An original contribution to the sociology of work in the new cultural economy, Pricing Beauty offers rich, accessible analysis of the invisible ways in which gender, race, and class shape worth in the marketplace.

Book excerpt: "You can become irresistibly attractive to women without changing who you are." So says Mark Manson, superstar blogger and author of the international bestseller, The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, a self help book that packs a punch. Mark brings the same approach to teaching men what they need to know about attracting women. In Models he shows us how much it sucks trying to attract women using the tricks and tactics recommended by other books. Instead, he says, men need to focus on seduction as an emotional process not a physical or social one. What matters is the intention, the motivation, the authenticity. To improve your dating life you must improve your emotional life - how you feel about yourself and how you express yourself to others. Funny, irreverent and confronting, Models is a mature and honest guide on how a man can attract women by giving up the bullsh*t and becoming an honest broker. "A detailed guide to modern sexual ethics" Sydney Morning Herald "There's nothing subtle about Mark Manson. He's crude and vulgar and doesn't give a f*ck . . . He's as painfully honest as he is outrageously funny" Huffington Post

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Male Modeling for Amateurs, an Uncensored Guide. I have been asked several times over the years by men that want to try amateur modeling, to see if I would consider writing a book to help and give a little information and insight in to amateur male modeling, this book is directed at and written for the average guy of all ages, big, small, short, tall, young or old, who have always wanted to try amateur male modeling and pose for photographers, artists, and painters, etc. . Doesn't matter if you're a student, accountant, cashier, mechanic, bartender, construction worker, military, landscaper, unemployed, or even retired, anyone can be an amateur model. I personally have photographed men from 18 years old to 56 years old. Please remember that this book is being written with “YOU” in mind and that anything said is designed to help you, no matter if this is just going to be a hobby or side thing, or you one day have hopes of breaking in to professional modeling in the hopes of it becoming a career. No matter where you live, most likely there are professional and amateur photographers, artists, painters, etc., and they all may need male models to pose for them. Some of this information also applies to being a more professional model, I have chosen to use a much more down to earth approach, because it seems in many circumstances however crude that this is more understandable to younger men, although I am speaking to all ages. So here we are “amateur” male modeling, I say amateur because that's the area I want to discuss specifically. I wrote this book for the everyday guys out there, whom would like to consider male modeling as a side job or hobby, a few times a month or maybe as a weekend thing. Side modeling can be fun and also put a little extra cash in your pocket! This is meant to be a straight forward uncensored guide to amateur male modeling, I'm going to talk about the possibilities, the benefits and pitfalls, including the stuff no one ever mentions. Also look for the "Davis Icon" picture books and "Cover Series" picture books. This book is 94 pages, for Book, computer download, and Kindle. Book Journey to Adulthood

Download or read book Journey to Adulthood written by Chin-Chun Yi and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2023-01-06 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Young people in East Asia are increasingly experiencing a prolonged transition to adulthood. They are spending longer in school, entering the labour market later, and getting married later still. This protracted young adulthood interacts with forces of both tradition and modernization, as social and economic changes generate profound effects on the transition from school to work, on family formation, on personal relationships, and on subjective well-being. Journey to Adulthood explores the special characteristics of young adulthood in East Asia. It uses Taiwan as illustrative example, with comparative findings from its East Asian neighbours Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. It describes the particular growth context of a millennial generation, and the challenges they face as they attempt to balance family formation, personal development and entry into a market economy. Edited by Chin-Chun Yi and Ming-Chang Tsai, this collection helps us to understand the structural configurations East Asian young adults collectively represent. Taking a cross-cultural and comparative perspective, it enables meaningful policy suggestions on family dynamics, educational strategy, and health and well-being across the globe. Dr Chin-Chun Yi and Dr Ming-Chang Tsai both work within the Institute of Sociology, Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taiwan
