Book Journal of a Broken Mind

Download or read book Journal of a Broken Mind written by Seth Kinstle and published by Seth Kinstle. This book was released on 2022-12-21 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes a person has many thoughts. And sometimes those thoughts form into a bunch of things that don't make sense. That is until you write a book and call it a journal so you don't have to organize them. Sarcastically the most important thing is the person who wrote this had a real moral standard. He wasn't just trying to write a book to get paid. But unfortunately I'm sure there plenty of smartasses who who have something to say about that. Then again it's a journal so any expectations of what it should be are dismissed. It can be as sloppy as the sewer mixture you pump out of your bleep every morning. Nonetheless it wasn't written for other people to enjoy. It's just a journal so in that case you can't really put a price on it. But yeah it's about a bunch of crazy stuff. Including but not limited to art, corruption, mental illness, and the insanity of making sense. But most importantly mocking the reader for ever observing it. So make sure to never read it or mention it to your friends. Just kidding you can do it if you want but I'm not asking you to. Wow this description turned out kinda funny.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For as long as I can remember I've struggled with my mental health, I've lived my life surrounded by people who are either ashamed of me or tell me I have nothing wrong. Those in my life have never been understanding of me, or understood why I do what I do, from self-harming to starving myself to being full on catatonic, I've lived my life in the shadow of the stigma of mental illness, the stigma that unfortunately my family and friends believed over what was happening in front of them. Nothing about my story is glamorous, beautiful or anything you should want or wish upon yourself. Nothing that has happened to me would I want anybody to go through, I wouldn't wish this on anybody because my mind feels like a personal full-time prison, something of which I'll never be able to move away from, this is with me for life. My mind gets so loud, the thoughts are screaming at me to do something or nothing. Sometimes I wake up in a fear of panic seeing those haunting memories replaying over and over in-front of me, I walk down the street and I think I see those I've lost even though I know it's not really possible. I wake up crying every night to a point where I'm fearful to close my eyes at night.

Book Healing the Broken Mind

Download or read book Healing the Broken Mind written by Timothy A. Kelly and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2009-08-01 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few afflictions are as frightening or as heartbreaking as mental illness. It may be a topic that many would prefer to sweep under the rug, but it is a fact of life that we as a society can and must face. We have come a long way over the past few decades in our understanding of mental illness and its potential treatments. Yet, tragically, many across the country who struggle with serious mental illness are unable to find effective, quality medical treatment. As a federal commission on mental health concluded, the system of care is in shambles. But why? And how do we fix it? Timothy A. Kelly, former Commissioner of Virginia’s Department of Mental Health, Retardation, and Substance Abuse, brings his three decades of experience as mental health commissioner, psychology professor, and clinician to bear in confronting this crisis in America’s mental health care system. In clear and accessible terms, he exposes the weaknesses in the current system, examining how and why one of the world’s richest and most advanced countries has allowed its most vulnerable citizens to be victimized by the very system designed to help them. Armed with the latest statistics, a lifetime of experience, and heartrending life stories, Kelly argues that the patchwork of care traditionally employed to treat mental illness is simply not up to the task, and that what we need is profound, fundamental, and system-wide change. He then goes on to provide an easy-to-follow road map for achieving lasting transformation, centered on five recommendations for creating a truly effective mental health system of care that enables patients to achieve a lasting recovery. Mental illness is not going to just go away, but Kelly prescribes a comprehensive plan to make treatment accessible and effective so that those who suffer can rejoin their families and their communities. He shows how a transformed system of community-based care allows those with serious mental illness to finally be able to go home.

Book Healing A Broken Heart

Download or read book Healing A Broken Heart written by Sarah La Saulle and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-05-11 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The loss of a love is a nearly universal emotional crisis, whether the end is divorce, desertion, or a mutually agreed-upon separation. At first, friends and family are there to offer a shoulder to cry on, but after a few months there's an expectation that we just need to get over the crisis and move on. Thus, unprocessed, painful feelings are buried, leaving us numb. Or we repeat damaging relationship patterns over and over again. The situation doesn't have to be like that. Healing a Broken Heart guides those of us grieving for a lost love through four metaphorical seasons of recovery with provocative questions -- and journal pages on which to respond -- to help move us forward. The four seasons serve as powerful metaphors for the stages of the grieving process. Summer is the season for charting the course of a relationship: remembering hopes and expectations, the warning signs that went unheeded. During autumn, journalers accept the reality of breaking up and acknowledge things about the relationship that didn't serve their needs. Winter brings the pain of grief over the profound loss. Finally, spring -- and, with it, renewal -- invites readers to examine and understand how their family history may have affected their past relationships. Punctuated throughout with poems and moving meditations, the thoughtful, interactive approach of this book offers the time and space we all need to heal when our hearts are broken.
