Book Fundamentals and Frontiers of the Josephson Effect

Download or read book Fundamentals and Frontiers of the Josephson Effect written by Francesco Tafuri and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 859 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive and up-to-date description of the Josephson effect, a topic of never-ending interest in both fundamental and applied physics. In this volume, world-renowned experts present the unique aspects of the physics of the Josephson effect, resulting from the use of new materials, of hybrid architectures and from the possibility of realizing nanoscale junctions. These new experimental capabilities lead to systems where novel coherent phenomena and transport processes emerge. All this is of great relevance and impact, especially when combined with the didactic approach of the book. The reader will benefit from a general and modern view of coherent phenomena in weakly-coupled superconductors on a macroscopic scale. Topics that have been only recently discussed in specialized papers and in short reviews are described here for the first time and organized in a general framework. An important section of the book is also devoted to applications, with focus on long-term, future applications. In addition to a significant number of illustrations, the book includes numerous tables for comparative studies on technical aspects.

Book History and Theory of Superconductors

Download or read book History and Theory of Superconductors written by Rudolf P Huebener and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-28 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rudolf P. Huebener presents the field of superconductivity research in a clear and compact way. He vividly describes how this area has developed in many directions since the discovery of superconductivity more than 100 years ago. This concerns materials, experiments on the physical principles, theoretical understanding and technical applications. Among other things, the essential deals with the Meissner-Ochsenfeld effect, magnetic flux quantization, the Josephson effect, the BCS theory and high-temperature superconductivity. This Springer essential is a translation of the original German 1st edition essentials, Geschichte und Theorie der Supraleiter by Rudolf P. Huebener, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2017. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.

Book Dynamics of Josephson Junctions and Circuits

Download or read book Dynamics of Josephson Junctions and Circuits written by Likharev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1986-08-11 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This monograph is intended to give a relatively complete review of Josephson junction dynamics as it stands in the mid-1980's. The main idea of the author is to present the reader with as many useful results as possible by the simplest means, rather than to demonstrate theoretical muscle. This is why almost all the topics requiring elaborate techniques for their analysis are shifted to the ends of the chapters and the most complex chapters, to the end of the book. Topics which are of relatively minor importance for further discussion are mainly presented in the form of 'problems' at the end of the sections." -- from Preface.

Book Quantum Neural Computation

    Book Details:
  • Author : Vladimir G. Ivancevic
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2010-01-18
  • ISBN : 9048133505
  • Pages : 938 pages

Download or read book Quantum Neural Computation written by Vladimir G. Ivancevic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-01-18 with total page 938 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Neural Computation is a graduate–level monographic textbook. It presents a comprehensive introduction, both non-technical and technical, into modern quantum neural computation, the science behind the fiction movie Stealth. Classical computing systems perform classical computations (i.e., Boolean operations, such as AND, OR, NOT gates) using devices that can be described classically (e.g., MOSFETs). On the other hand, quantum computing systems perform classical computations using quantum devices (quantum dots), that is devices that can be described only using quantum mechanics. Any information transfer between such computing systems involves a state measurement. This book describes this information transfer at the edge of classical and quantum chaos and turbulence, where mysterious quantum-mechanical linearity meets even more mysterious brain’s nonlinear complexity, in order to perform a super–high–speed and error–free computations. This monograph describes a crossroad between quantum field theory, brain science and computational intelligence.

Book Andreev Reflection in Superconducting Junctions

Download or read book Andreev Reflection in Superconducting Junctions written by Yasuhiro Asano and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-12 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a primer on the fundamental theory of Andreev reflection, a fundamental process in the motion of a Cooper pair, which dominates low-energy electronic transport properties in superconductor junctions including differential conductance and Josephson current. The book concisely describes how Andreev reflection impacts the low-energy physics of electronic transport especially in topologically non-trivial superconductor junctions. In addition, it includes an introduction to topological superconductors, covering topological classification, chiral and helical superconductors, and topological edges. The book is based on the author’s lecture notes, used in his intensive lectures and while supervising his upper undergraduate and early graduate students. To fully benefit from this concise primer, readers only need an undergraduate background in quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. Further, by highlighting Josephson junctions of topological superconductors, the book offers readers a glimpse into cutting-edge topics.

Book Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Matter

Download or read book Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Matter written by Tord Claeson and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2001, the Nobel Foundation celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first Nobel Prize, and all previous Nobel laureates were invited to attend the Nobel ceremonies in Stockholm. This gave an excellent opportunity for arranging jubilee symposia with topics that would attract several of the laureates. The chosen subject of ?Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Systems? attracted sixteen Nobel laureates and another thirty-five leading scientists. The idea was to bring scientists together from several related subdisciplines: atomic physics, quantum optics, and condensed matter physics, for cross-breeding of ideas, concepts, and experience. Subjects like phase transitions in strongly coupled systems, Bose-Einstein condensation in weakly coupled systems, macroscopic quantum phenomena, coherence in mesoscopic structures, and quantum information were intensively discussed from different points of view. Coherence phenomena in condensed systems were emphasized. A special session was devoted to the emerging field of quantum computing, with experimental and theoretical results reported for different types of qu-bits. The 2001 Nobel Prize awarded to Eric Cornell, Wolfgang Ketterle, and Carl Wieman, ?for the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms, and for early fundamental studies of the properties of the condensates,? gave an extra flavor to the theme of the Centennial Symposium.
