Book excerpt: #UNADDICTED In his years of engaging with teenagers and young adults, the question Joseph has been most frequently asked is on overcoming sexual addictions--especially pornography and masturbation. This book brings together in one volume Joseph's liberating thoughts on how to do this, sharing unreservedly from his journey through the same struggles. The book is easy-to-read and has been a helpful resource for many teenagers and young adults. Recommendation We shared this book with two members of our church's youth ministry. To the glory of God, they found it very helpful. One of them shared with us how, by the help of the Holy Spirit, prayers and the liberating truth from the book, he lost the desire to indulge in his addiction. We heartily recommend this book. -- Pastor and Mrs Adelegan Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Testimony from a Reader: I had the privilege of getting the electronic version of this book as a free gift. It has brought great joy and freedom to me. The night I downloaded the book, I finished reading it, because I've always longed for help in my struggle against pornography and masturbation. Every preacher I listen to seem to be silent about it. My struggle has been ongoing a long while. Even though I knew it was bad, I found it difficult to stop. The times when I thought I had freedom, it was always short-lived. Finding confidence to share with you that this has become a broken chain brings great relief to my heart. Thank you for being sincere. Thank you for yielding to the call. Thank you for the light you have shined to my darkness. Reading the book has opened my eyes to the victory God has given me which I'm expected to walk in. I have never seen it in the way you brought it. Even though I longed to stop, and did put in certain measures to curb my exposure, I knew I needed something more. I found it in this book. As I yield more and more to God, my fleshly desires die. As I walk more and more in obedience in line with God's Word, the more I am in tune with Him. I covet your prayers. I long for a time when God will grant me a platform to share the light with others tied in these chains as well. I write to let you know that the labour invested in your posts which led to this book was not in vain. It's growing. It has birthed a seed and it will continue to grow and reach many more. Amen. I have come to share my testimony in faith declaring the victory long given to me. I am still reading the book over and over again and the more I read, the more I see God helping me overcome in my daily life. Grace to you. -- Funminiyi, Nigeria

In the late seventies that meant clothes, music and Liverpool FC. He joined a young scallywag crew who dressed different, spoke different and met at the Anfield Road End. Their travels would become legend as the Reds conquered Europe. The Road Enders were a bunch of blaggers and fighters to whom every No Entry sign was a challenge and every price tag a joke. They criss-crossed the continent, causing havoc in their wake - and had a whale of a time.

Book The Report of the Hillsborough Independent Panel

Download or read book The Report of the Hillsborough Independent Panel written by Hillsborough Independent Panel and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2012-09-12 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 96 women, men and children died as a result of the disaster in Hillsborough Stadium on 15 April 1989. They were crushed due to overcrowding in the Leppings Lane terrace, penned in by the ground's fencing. Hundreds more were injured and thousands traumatised. Lord Justice Taylor led a judicial inquiry (1990, Cm. 962, ISBN 9780101096225), concluding that the main cause of the disaster was the failure of police control. The next 11 years saw a variety of investigations and proceedings, including a scrutiny of new evidence (Lord Justice Stuart-Smith, 1998, Cm. 3878, ISBN 9780101387828). Yet many bereaved families felt that the true context, circumstances and aftermath had not been adequately made public, and were particularly aggrieved that it had become widely assumed that Liverpool fans' behaviour had contributed to the disaster. The Independent Panel was established in 2010 to oversee full public disclosure of all documents relating to the disaster and to report on its work. This report is in three parts. Firstly it shows what was already known and in the public domain by 2010. Secondly, in 12 detailed chapters, it describes what the disclosed documents add to public understanding. The third part gives a review of options for providing an archive of the documents. The disclosed documents (available at http://panel.hillsborough.independent.gov.uk/) add considerably to public understanding. They show that multiple factors were responsible for the tragedy and that the fans were not the cause. The report also shows that the bereaved families met a series of obstacles in their search for justice over more than 20 years.

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 149 pages

Download or read book Waiting Compass written by Joseph Ola and published by Joseph Ola. This book was released on 2018-10-28 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHERE IS THE ALL-POWERFUL GOD? If God is so loving and all-powerful, how come He is missing in inaction? How come He’s silent to my legitimate requests? He promised that none of His shall be barren. Where is the baby? He promised that the prayer of faith will heal the sick. Why am I still sick? He promised to answer before I call. Where is the answer after calling and calling again? WHERE IS GOD? It's a question you've probably asked. It's a question Joseph has definitely asked when his reality seemed decades away from what God had promised. Thus, in five ‘peaces’ of transformational thoughts, Joseph hands us a compass which points us in the direction where God may be found in times like that. With lots of stories from his personal journey, Joseph writes with such simplicity and clarity that drives home the message and leaves the seeker immersed in the unwavering hope of God’s reassuring promise: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”

Book Hillsborough The Truth

Download or read book Hillsborough The Truth written by Phil Scraton and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-06-16 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the definitive, unique account of the disaster in which 96 men, women and children were killed, hundreds injured and thousands traumatised. It details the appalling treatment endured by the bereaved and survivors in the immediate aftermath, the inhumanity of the identification process and the vilification of fans in the national and international media. In 2012, Phil Scraton was primary author of the ground-breaking report published by the Hillsborough Independent Panel following its new research into thousands of documents disclosed by all agencies involved. Against a backdrop of almost three decades of persistent struggle by bereaved families and survivors, in this new edition he reflects on the Panel’s in-depth work, its revelatory findings and their unprecedented impact – an unreserved apology from the Prime Minister; new criminal investigations; the Independent Police Complaints Commission’s largest-ever inquiry; the quashing of 96 inquest verdicts; a review of all health and pathology policies. Paving the way for truth recovery and institutional accountability in other controversial cases, he details the process and considers the impact of the longest ever inquests, from the preliminary hearings to their comprehensive, devastating verdicts. Powerful, disturbing and harrowing, Hillsborough: The Truth exposes the institutional complacency that led to the unlawful killing of the 96, revealing how the interests of ordinary people are marginalised when those in authority sacrifice truth and accountability to protect their reputations.

Book Sound change priming salience

Download or read book Sound change priming salience written by Marten Juskan and published by Language Science Press. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume investigates the realisation and perception of four phonological variables in Liverpool English (Scouse), with a special focus on their sociolinguistic salience. Younger speakers’ speech is found to be more local, but only for the two salient variables in the sample (NURSE-SQUARE and /k/ lenition), which appear to carry considerable amounts of covert prestige. Local variants of non-salient happy-tensing and velar nasal plus, on the other hand, are actually found to be receding, so at least to a certain extent Scouse also seems to be participating in regional dialect levelling. The importance of salience is also obvious in the perception data, with only the two highly salient stereotypes generating robust effects in a social priming experiment (albeit in the unexpected direction). These results indicate that the investigated variables differ measurably not only in their use in production, but also in terms of how central they are to mental sociolinguistic representations of Scouse. They also tell us more about the way we process, store, and (re-)use sociolinguistic variation in perception. By defining likely contexts for significant priming effects they might finally even help in coming up with a more elaborate
