Book Steinberg Groups for Jordan Pairs

Download or read book Steinberg Groups for Jordan Pairs written by Ottmar Loos and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-10 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present monograph develops a unified theory of Steinberg groups, independent of matrix representations, based on the theory of Jordan pairs and the theory of 3-graded locally finite root systems. The development of this approach occurs over six chapters, progressing from groups with commutator relations and their Steinberg groups, then on to Jordan pairs, 3-graded locally finite root systems, and groups associated with Jordan pairs graded by root systems, before exploring the volume's main focus: the definition of the Steinberg group of a root graded Jordan pair by a small set of relations, and its central closedness. Several original concepts, such as the notions of Jordan graphs and Weyl elements, provide readers with the necessary tools from combinatorics and group theory. Steinberg Groups for Jordan Pairs is ideal for PhD students and researchers in the fields of elementary groups, Steinberg groups, Jordan algebras, and Jordan pairs. By adopting a unified approach, anybody interested in this area who seeks an alternative to case-by-case arguments and explicit matrix calculations will find this book essential.

Book Jordan Structures in Lie Algebras

Download or read book Jordan Structures in Lie Algebras written by Antonio Fernández López and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-08-19 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores applications of Jordan theory to the theory of Lie algebras. After presenting the general theory of nonassociative algebras and of Lie algebras, the book then explains how properties of the Jordan algebra attached to a Jordan element of a Lie algebra can be used to reveal properties of the Lie algebra itself.

Book A Generalized Framework of Linear Multivariable Control

Download or read book A Generalized Framework of Linear Multivariable Control written by Liansheng Tan and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2017-02-04 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Generalized Framework of Linear Multivariable Control proposes a number of generalized models by using the generalized inverse of matrix, while the usual linear multivariable control theory relies on some regular models. The book supports that in H-infinity control, the linear fractional transformation formulation is relying on the inverse of the block matrix. If the block matrix is not regular, the H-infinity control does not apply any more in the normal framework. Therefore, it is very important to relax those restrictions to generalize the classical notions and models to include some non-regular cases. This book is ideal for scholars, academics, professional engineer and students who are interested in control system theory. Presents a comprehensive set of numerical procedures, algorithms, and examples on how to deal with irregular models Provides a summary on generalized framework of linear multivariable control that focuses on generalizations of models and notions Introduces a number of generalized models by using the generalized inverse of matrix

Book The Gohberg Anniversary Collection

Download or read book The Gohberg Anniversary Collection written by Dym and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1022 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: R. S. PHILLIPS I am very gratified to have been asked to give this introductory talk for our honoured guest, Israel Gohberg. I should like to begin by spending a few minutes talking shop. One of the great tragedies of being a mathematician is that your papers are read so seldom. On the average ten people will read the introduction to a paper and perhaps two of these will actually study the paper. It's difficult to know how to deal with this problem. One strategy which will at least get you one more reader, is to collaborate with someone. I think Israel early on caught on to this, and I imagine that by this time most of the analysts in the world have collaborated with him. He continues relentlessly in this pursuit; he visits his neighbour Harry Dym at the Weizmann Institute regularly, he spends several months a year in Amsterdam working with Rien Kaashoek, several weeks in Maryland with Seymour Goldberg, a couple of weeks here in Calgary with Peter Lancaster, and on the rare occasions when he is in Tel Aviv, he takes care of his many students.

Book Handbook of Pseudo Riemannian Geometry and Supersymmetry

Download or read book Handbook of Pseudo Riemannian Geometry and Supersymmetry written by Vicente Cortés and published by European Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2010 with total page 972 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this handbook is to give an overview of some recent developments in differential geometry related to supersymmetric field theories. The main themes covered are: Special geometry and supersymmetry Generalized geometry Geometries with torsion Para-geometries Holonomy theory Symmetric spaces and spaces of constant curvature Conformal geometry Wave equations on Lorentzian manifolds D-branes and K-theory The intended audience consists of advanced students and researchers working in differential geometry, string theory, and related areas. The emphasis is on geometrical structures occurring on target spaces of supersymmetric field theories. Some of these structures can be fully described in the classical framework of pseudo-Riemannian geometry. Others lead to new concepts relating various fields of research, such as special Kahler geometry or generalized geometry.
