Download or read book Joint Mission Essential Task List JMETL Development Handbook written by Dynamics Research Corporation and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is designed to help combatant commanders, subordinate joint force commanders, and functional or Service component commanders implement the Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL) process described in CJCSI 3500.01, Joint Training Policy for the Armed Forces of the United States. Definition of Joint Training. Joint training is military training based on joint doctrine designed to prepare joint forces and/or joint staffs to respond to operational requirements identified by joint force commanders. Joint training generally involves the performance of tasks by members or elements of more than one military Service under the direction of a joint force commander. The responsibility for joint training resides with the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), combatant commanders, and subordinate joint force commanders. Importance of Joint Training. Over the past several years, U.S. military forces have significantly downsized and moved from forward bases back to the Continental United States (CONUS). During the same period, the range of missions U.S. military forces must prepare for has greatly expanded. This combination of factors greatly increases the requirements for employment of joint forces. Thus, jointness will be central to the successful execution of future missions required of the U.S. Armed Forces and joint doctrine will assume increasing importance to the conduct of assigned missions. Consequently, if our armed forces are going to fight jointly, they must train jointly.

Download or read book U S Peacefare written by Dane F. Smith Jr. and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2010-02-26 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a survey of the U.S. civilian and military agencies responsible for postconflict reconstruction and peace-building around the world and how these agencies function in the interagency process. U.S. Peacefare: Organizing American Peace-Building Operations surveys the evolution of the American peace-building apparatus during the presidencies of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, with an emphasis on changes since 2003, when the invasion of Iraq led the Bush Administration to adopt a Clinton-style nation-building approach they had previously vigorously opposed. U.S. Peacefare begins with a historical overview of official U.S. peace-building, then looks at the organization and interaction of the major federal agencies in the National Security Council, the State Department, and the Defense Department, as well the U.S. Institute for Peace, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Throughout, author and former Ambassador Dane Smith emphasizes how a deeper understanding of peace-building organizations and their interactions in particular cases is essential to strengthening future U.S. conflict management. The book addresses the critical overall issue of how peace-building is funded, but within the federal budget and internationally, and concludes with Smith's recommendations for reforming those organizations.

Book CINCFOR Implementation of JCS Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Training Directives

Download or read book CINCFOR Implementation of JCS Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Training Directives written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study focused on the implementation by CINCFOR of a series of joint training directives from Congress (Goldwater-Nichols Department of Defense Reorganization Act of 1986) and the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). Because the full impact of these directives is still unclear, the study seeks to concentrate on two specific areas: the Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL) and the Joint Training Plan (JTP). The uniqueness of CINCFOR versus other CINCs clearly emphasizes the difficulty that all CINCs will have in the implementation of truly joint training. The immediate challenge for CINFOR is to develop the mechanism and the methodology for the development of JMETLs and the JTP in the dynamic environment of DOD reorganization, changing world-wide requirements, and force allocation and organization. The study was requested and sponsored by FORSCOM J3. Military funding, National defense, United States government, Military training.
