Book Joseph Smith s Polygamy Volume 2 History

Download or read book Joseph Smith s Polygamy Volume 2 History written by Brian C. Hales and published by Greg Kofford Books. This book was released on 2013-02-26 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few American religious figures have stirred more passion among adherents and antagonists than Joseph Smith. Born in 1805 and silenced thirty-nine years later by assassins’ bullets, he dictated more than one-hundred revelations, published books of new scripture, built a temple, organized several new cities, and became the proclaimed prophet to tens of thousands during his abbreviated life. Among his many novel teachings and practices, none is more controversial than plural marriage, a restoration of the Old Testament practice that he accepted as part of his divinely appointed mission. Joseph Smith taught his polygamy doctrines only in secret and dictated a revelation in July 1843 authorizing its practice (now LDS D&C 132) that was never published during his lifetime. Although rumors and exposés multiplied, it was not until 1852 that Mormons in Brigham Young’s Utah took a public stand. By then, thousands of Mormons were engaged in the practice that was seen as essential to salvation. Victorian America saw plural marriage as immoral and Joseph Smith as acting on libido. However, the private writings of Nauvoo participants and other polygamy insiders tell another, more complex and nuanced story. Many of these accounts have never been published. Others have been printed sporadically in unrelated publications. Drawing on every known historical account, whether by supporters or opponents, Volumes 1 and 2 take a fresh look at the chronology and development of Mormon polygamy, including the difficult conundrums of the Fannie Alger relationship, polyandry, the “angel with a sword” accounts, Emma Smith’s poignant response, and the possibility of Joseph Smith offspring by his plural wives. Among the most intriguing are the newly available Andrew Jenson papers containing not only the often-quoted statements by surviving plural wives but also Jenson’s own private research, conducted in the late nineteenth century. Telling the story of Joseph Smith’s polygamy from the records of those who knew him best, augmented by those who observed him from a distance, may have produced the most useful view of all.

This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even if a pet caregiver proves fraud and deceit to the board, they typically ignore the fact that the bad actor altered medical records to erase the appearance of negligence. Recordkeeping violations by vets, along with practice below the standard of care, are the two most commonly charged violations by the board and the two least deterred by disciplinary action. The outrageous lack of morals and ethics will continue. The vet boards enact laws to insulate them from legal jeopardy. The veterinary justice system is broken, it's corrupt and is in massive need of reform. One of the reasons for this book is to educate and enlighten you that vet board exists, the maltreatment of bereaved caregivers is an old story and will sadly continue on and without meaningful, impactful changes I believe this level of injustice will continue. The vet boards allow serial offenders to continue to offend.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christiana McKenzie, Chris to her friends, was at her wit's end. She and her sister, Angel, were born witches. Their mother had warned them that using their powers would bring on another witch hunt, and they’d risk being burned, just like their ancestors. Her sister didn’t heed their mother’s warning, and now Angel was dead. Angel had lived long enough to tell Chris that she’d left something for her with a man by the name of Bentley, then she died. Chris had to track down this Bentley no matter the cost…. Joseph Bentley almost had everything finished: the house, the barn…everything. In a few weeks, it would be finished, and he would be able to move into the house and get the ranch going. But the progress wasn’t going fast enough to suit him--he was lonely. Micah had come out to tell him that the sister of the girl that died to protect him was coming to see him, and he was hoping that the nightmares since the incident would stop. Micah wanted him to come out to the main house and be there when she arrived. But the limo delivered the woman to Joey’s house instead of Micah’s. Joey couldn’t believe it, the hostile woman was his mate…and more than he could have ever hoped for…. Whether or not Chris wanted a mate or not was irrelevant. Joey wasn’t letting her out of his sight. And when she found out that her mother had lied to her--she wasn’t an ordinary witch--and that others would come to try to possess her. If they couldn’t do that, then they would kill her to possess her powers--she needed help. The Bentleys band together to save one of their own, but will it be enough? Can they even fight the powerful magic that’s targeting Chris and Joey?

This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 867 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty-seventh anniversary of the bioenergemal ['spiritual'] research. Patriarchs, prophets, Buddha, Jesus, Mary, Joseph and associates, Lamas and Mohammad apologize to their followers for the millenarian fake they have been promoting. All the religious figures promote themselves through parasitizing of dreams, inducing in/appropriated scenes and images in the dreamer conforming to their convenience. Without this resource, they had been unable to publicise themselves. Nevertheless, this book is not on religions, but about whom the religious figures and many persons more were and are. Doubts like these raised in the II Vatican Council, perhaps propitiated John XXIII biocollapse ['death']. Exceptional information! (Basic English).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been said that never has a monarch so narrowly missed "greatness" as did the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II. An idealistic, sincere, and hardworking monarch whose ultilitarian bent, humanitarian instincts, and ambitious programs of reform in every area of public concern have prompted historians to term him an "enlightened despot," "revolutionary Emperor," "philosopher on a throne," and a ruler ahead of his time, Joseph has also been condemned for being insensitive to the phobias and follies of his subjects, essentially unrealistic, almost utopian, in establishing his goals, and dogmatic and overly precipitous in trying to achieve them. Efforts to analyze and explain the actions of this complex and controversial personality have involved a number of savants in investigations of "Josephinism" (or as I prefer to call it, "Josephism"), dealing in great detail with the motiva tions, substance, and influence of his innovations. The roots of Josephism run deep, but can be observed emerging here and there from the intellectual and political soil that nourished them, before joining the central trunk of the system formulated during the latter years of Maria Theresa's reign to grow to an ephemeral and stunted maturity under Joseph II.

Download or read book Pal Joey written by Julianne Lindberg and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020-05 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The History of a Heel chronicles the genesis, influence, and significance of Rodgers and Hart's classic musical comedy Pal Joey (1940). When Pal Joey opened at the Barrymore on Christmas day, 1940, it flew in the face of musical comedy convention. The characters and situation were depraved. The setting was caustically realistic. Its female lead was frankly sexual and yet not purely comic. A narratively-driven dream ballet closed the first act, begging audiences to take seriously the inner life and desires of a confirmed heel. Although the show appears on many top-ten lists surveying the so-called "Golden Age," it is a controversial classic; its legacy is tied both to the fashionable scandal that it provoked, and, retrospectively, to the uncommon attention it paid to characterization and narrative cohesion. Through an archive-driven investigation of the show and its music, History of a Heel offers insight into the historical moment during which Joey was born, and to the process of genre classification, canon formation, and the ensuing critical debates related to musical and theatrical maturity. More broadly, I argue that the critique and commentary on class and gender conventions in Pal Joey reveals a uniquely American concern over status, class mobility, and progressive gender roles in the pre-war era The History of a Heel chronicles the genesis, influence, and significance of Rodgers and Hart's classic musical comedy Pal Joey (1940).
