Book Job and the Misrepresentation of God s Character

Download or read book Job and the Misrepresentation of God s Character written by Troy J. Edwards and published by Troy Edwards. This book was released on with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many approach the book of Job with a number of presuppositions: God desires to test Job's faithfulness. God is controlling the actions of the devil. That God just might make you the next Job. These presuppositions demonstrate a failure to study the book of Job in the light of the full revelation of Father God found in Jesus Christ. Hence, Job is misused to present God as a capricious deity. In this book we will learn how a proper study of Job shows us that Satan’s plan was to discredit both God and Job. We will learn that God did not instigate Job’s trials, but showed the patriarch compassion by delivering him from the designs of Satan against him.

Book excerpt: In this book, How? We will look at a number of God’s acts recorded in the Bible, those acts that upon a superficial reading of Scripture, paint Him as malicious, harsh, hypocritical and in some cases, worse than the humans whose sin He punishes. Hopefully when you see the explanations that the Word of God itself offers you will see the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ in a new light. Some of the questions this book attempts to answer are: How Does God Reveal His Wrath? How Does God Bring Judgment? How Does God Create Evil? How Does “God’s Hand” Go Against Sinners? How Does God Punish? How Does God Kill? How Does God Smite? How Does God Curse? How Does God Tempt? How Does God Deceive? How Does God Harden Hearts? How Does God Destroy? How Does God Send Sickness?

Book Have You an Arm Like God

Download or read book Have You an Arm Like God written by Jeffrey K. Wisner and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Job is a person lifted out of ancient history in dramatic fashion, addressing the most basic questions of life: Is God good and just? What does it mean to possess a secure relationship with God? How can security be obtained? The suffering of Job provides the impetus for a theological debate. Jobs friends believe his sins caused his troubles. Job refuses to submit to their hypocritical diatribes. He prefers an audience with God. He presumes to indict Gods testimony of justice in the world. After his friends exhaust their efforts, a young man confronts Jobs magisterial presentation. He challenges Jobs declarations concerning Gods person and work. He prepares him to meet with true majesty. The Lord continues to challenge from a whirlwind. His first speech reinforces His power of justice, His ability to sustain life, and His design through creation, revealing the character of a God who oversees life with good intentions. The second speech addresses Gods ability to judge and destroy the personality of evil. The center of this speech reveals a Messianic expression of hope. The way in which God introduces this testimony reinforces the understanding this Coming One is God Himself. The knowledge gained by Job propels him into a spirit of praise and worship, preparing him to minister as a priest for his erring friends.

Book The Misrepresented God Exposing the Lies of Religion Beholding the True Nature and Character of God Revealed in Christ

Download or read book The Misrepresented God Exposing the Lies of Religion Beholding the True Nature and Character of God Revealed in Christ written by Great Igwe and published by Wegi Publishing House. This book was released on 2021-02-08 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, the knowledge of God - His nature, character, and actions - has been misunderstood and misrepresented by those who are considered leaders in Christendom. This is why the average person, whether Christian or non-Christian, is quick to attribute any major bad events, occurrences, or actions as the will or deeds of God. If there is an earthquake, a global pandemic, a terrorist attack, or a mass shooting, people's first instinct is to believe that God is somehow judging the world or punishing the world for it atrocities, or maybe God is angry at the rise of the LGBTQ in the world. It's so despairing to think that a child who is so loved, adored, and valued by his father would have such a misinformed perception and mentality that he would believe that all the evil happening around him or to him is the work of his beloved Father. Every parent's greatest fear is for his children to have a wrong impression about him/her. Despite the good works the parent do for the child, as long as that child's mindset, knowledge, or perception towards his father is skewed, every good thing will be seen as undercover evil, and bad events in that child's life will be blamed on the parent. The Misrepresented God tells the truth about who the Creator is. This book analyzes what religion says about God's heart and personality and measures it up to what God revealed about Himself through his beloved Son Jesus Christ. So many Christians have been bombarded with confusing teachings and doctrines that their understanding and knowledge of God describes Satan rather than God. This book takes that twisted mess and replaces it with one soft, warm light of truth that anyone can embrace: God is love. Nothing punctures the heart of every loving father like seeing that his children don't even know him or that they have a misguided view of him to the point they believe that he is the cause of their sickness and pain. They believe they have to pay Him or do one or two things for Him to bless, protect or love them. That is so disheartening. Now, I don't claim to be a psychic reader or some prophet, but I make bold to say that if there is anything that hurts the heart of our Sovereign Father, it is the false knowledge or misrepresentation of His nature and character to His children. Religion has told so many lies about the nature and character of God that it has destroyed many lives, pushed people away from the Church, or even turned them to atheism, which is on the rise worldwide. The Pew Research Center reckons that atheism and its shadowy second cousin agnosticism, have grown rapidly around the world in the last five years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The life and times of this iconic and enduring biblical book The book of Job raises stark questions about the meaning of innocent suffering and the relationship of the human to the divine, yet it is also one of the Bible's most obscure and paradoxical books. Mark Larrimore provides a panoramic history of this remarkable book, traversing centuries and traditions to examine how Job's trials and his challenge to God have been used and understood in diverse contexts, from commentary and liturgy to philosophy and art. Larrimore traces Job's reception by figures such as Gregory the Great, William Blake, and Elie Wiesel, and reveals how Job has come to be viewed as the Bible's answer to the problem of evil and the perennial question of why a God who supposedly loves justice permits bad things to happen to good people.

It is a cliché, but a valid one, that there are always people who help others but have nowhere to turn when they are in need. Sometimes it may not be a material resource that is required; it might just be a kind word, a smile, or a nod that recognizes that everyone has “off” days. I hope you will be encouraged by sharing with me in this journey of words, which seek to inspire and support.

Download or read book The Spirit Within Me written by Carol Ann Newsom and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first full-length study of the evolution of self and agency in ancient Israelite anthropology Conceptions of "the self" have received significant recent attention in philosophy, anthropology, and cultural history. Scholars argue that the introspective self of the modern West is a distinctive phenomenon that cannot be projected back onto the cultures of antiquity. While acknowledging such difference is vital, it can lead to an inaccurate flattening of the ancient self. In this study, Carol A. Newsom explores the assumptions that govern ancient Israelite views of the self and its moral agency before the fall of Judah, as well as striking developments during the Second Temple period. She demonstrates how the collective trauma of the destruction of the Temple catalyzed changes in the experience of the self in Israelite literature, including first-person singular prayers, notions of self-alienation, and emerging understandings of a defective heart and will. Examining novel forms of spirituality as well as sectarian texts, Newsom chronicles the evolving inward gaze in ancient Israelite literature, unveiling how introspection in Second Temple Judaism both parallels and differs from forms of introspective selfhood in Greco-Roman cultures.
