Download or read book National Geographic Traveler Barcelona written by Damien Simonis and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 2009 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the travel experts agree--consumers want more and different experiences from travel than they did in the past. They want to deeply understand their destination before they go, feel a meaningful connection to the place while there, and return home feeling enriched and ready to share their experiences with others. With these trends in mind, and the results of extensive, proprietary market research, "National Geographic Traveler" has been enhanced with engaging new features and a contemporary redesign. Each guide begins with an introduction that enables the traveler to sample a bit of the culture, history, and attractions before they go and plan the trip based on their own interests and length of stay. Travelers can immerse themselves in active, in-country "Experiences" and "Off-the-Beaten-Path Excursions" they won't find anywhere else, like visiting a family in a South African township or learning to cook Maori cuisine with a renowned New Zealand chef. Other new features, such as "Insider Tips" from National Geographic photographers, writers, and experts, as well as "Not-To-Be-Missed" lists ensure that each person's visit will be one-of-a-kind and memorable. To make the most of these and all the other great new features, the guides' design has been simplified, opened up, and enhanced with easy-to-read tinted sections. Gorgeous color photographs, high-quality maps, and the popular walking and driving tours are still highlights of our crisp, new look. To complete the update, our new covers boast a striking, single image of the destination, along with the clear National Geographic branding that signifies quality, trust, and all the best in travel. With more than a century of travel expertise, new content, and a new look, "National Geographic Traveler" is the right guide at the right time--poised to meet the changing needs of today's traveler better than ever and better than anyone. Barcelona is unique in its architecture and art, from Gothic to Gaudi and Picasso to Miro. Don't miss flamenco classes!
Download or read book Advances in Microbial Ecology written by J.G. Jones and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kevin Marshall is a hard act to follow. Volume 13 of Advances in Microbial Ecology has been produced by a new editorial board, and we, the members of that board, are delighted to have the opportunity to pay tribute to Kevin's achievements. In his time as Series Editor, the quality of the chapters submitted and the range of subject matter covered have ensured an expanding and more stimulated readership. This represents a considerable achievement, given the growth in the number of review volumes and the increasing tendency for journals to publish review articles. The achievement was reached not only through metic ulous attention to quality and detail but also by providing a forum for the expression of views, information, and results that would stimulate discussion. Advances in Microbial Ecology will continue to provide such a focus, although, because of the frequency of publication, it would not be practicable to introduce a "reply" or "comment" section. Although we do not deliberately aim to provide a forum for controversy, we encourage speculation based on sound scientific arguments. In addition, we would like to encourage authors to offer chapters for consideration. In the past, the volumes have largely comprised invited chapters. With the best will in the world, an editorial board of four cannot claim adequate coverage of such a vast and rapidly developing research area. We would there fore welcome submission of outline plans for chapters, which should be sent to the Editor.

Download or read book Conceptual Revolutions in Twentieth Century Art written by David W. Galenson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-09-14 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Picasso's Cubism and Duchamp's readymades to Warhol's silkscreens and Smithson's earthworks, the art of the twentieth century broke completely with earlier artistic traditions. A basic change in the market for advanced art produced a heightened demand for innovation, and young conceptual innovators – from Picasso and Duchamp to Rauschenberg and Warhol to Cindy Sherman and Damien Hirst – responded not only by creating dozens of new forms of art, but also by behaving in ways that would have been incomprehensible to their predecessors. Conceptual Revolutions in Twentieth-Century Art presents the first systematic analysis of the reasons for this discontinuity. David W. Galenson, whose earlier research has changed our understanding of creativity, combines social scientific methods with qualitative analysis to produce a fundamentally new interpretation of modern art that will give readers a far deeper appreciation of the art of the past century, and of today, than is available elsewhere.

The 63 Building, consisting of 60 stories above the ground and 3 stories underground, stands soaring up into the sky on the island of Youido, the Manhattan of Korea, and ranks by far the tallest of all buildings in the country. The program committee received 102 submissions from 17 countries and regions (Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, The Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, UK, and USA), of which 32 were selected for presentation in 8 sessions. All submissions were anonymously reviewed by at least 3 experts in the relevant areas. There was one invited talk by David Pointcheval (ENS, France) on “Practical Security in Public-Key Cryptography”. We are very grateful to all the program committee members who devoted much e?ort and valuable time to reading and selecting the papers. Download or read book Don t Pay for a Promise written by John McHardy and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2000-11-01 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing out of a project to help the author deal with his own credulity, "Dont Pay for a Promise" is a treasure house of information distilled from hundreds of Government publications. These publications are constantly being revised and updated and the reader should consult them regularly for the latest facts. However, because each publication must stand on its own, there is a "patchwork" character to the material and finding answers for a particular situation can take time. By capturing the essence of these publications, John McHardy has created a powerful resource for anyone who has ever agonized over an offer that seems too good to be true. In 14 compact chapters, the book deals systematically with the diverse types and guises of consumer fraud, offering concrete advice on how to recognize and respond to each of them. The first chapter provides information common to all types of fraud and serves as a foundation for the rest of the book. The next eleven chapters then cover individual aspects of the subject. For example, Chapter 2 "Identity Theft" examines topics that range from simple theft to the less obvious hazards of automatic debit and electronic banking. A typical chapter begins with an outline of pertinent laws and regulations and continues with one or more sections on particular issues. For example, Chapter 3, arranges the broad subject of "Contests" into three separate sections. Within each section, the material is organized under a consistent set of paragraph headings. These include the "promise" (the scam or deceptive practice), warning signs that may distinguish it from a legitimate offer, and ways that consumers can protect themselves or at least minimize their losses. The book concludes with two chapters of reference material, Chapter 13 detailing the many organizations that can offer help in the fight against fraud and Chapter 14 containing the full text of FTC Telemarketing Sales Rule.

This book was released on 2021-07-07 with total page 574 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
