Book excerpt: Jo Strauss was committed to two things in her life – her family and her life as an acrobat/high-wire performer. Her life was orderly, in control, and she was finally settling down in one place so she could spend more time with her parents instead of moving all over the world every few weeks. To celebrate her and younger sister Star’s one year anniversary away from the circus, they planned to meet River Knight, their childhood friend and sister of the heart, for a vacation in the mountains in North Carolina.Everything went as planned until she and her sisters were kidnapped. Now, she has been transported to another world. Aliens, warships, battles, and a certain male were not in the carefully detailed plans she had mapped out for her life. Manota Ja Kel Coradon is the second son of the ruling House of Kassis. He is known as the dark brother, a reputation that he lives up to. He has fought hard to protect his family and the people of Kassis, sometimes sacrificing parts of his soul to do so. His knowledge, skills, and development of weaponry are legendary. His skill as a warrior brings shivers of fear to his opponents. He never gives mercy to those who stand in his way. Manota is in total control of his world until one slender, feisty alien female crashes through the shields he has placed around his heart. She is fearless, determined, and stubborn. She absolutely refuses to cower before him, no matter how much he growls! He is determined to protect her and claim her as his own, but there is one little problem – she will not agree to accept his claim unless he returns to Earth for her parents. Now, he has even bigger problems – that come in all different shapes, sizes, and species! Jo and Star’s parents aren’t the only ones coming back to Kassis – so is the whole circus! Traitors, pirates, and Mimes are just the tip of the iceberg. Manota is about to learn that the prophesy from centuries ago is true. His mate is just as much of a warrior as he is and she comes with backup when an old enemy attacks! A NY Times and USA Today bestselling author, the internationally acclaimed S.E. Smith presents a new story with her signature humor and unpredictable twists! Exciting adventure, hot romance, and iconic characters have won her a legion of fans. Over TWO MILLION books sold!

Book excerpt: Part of the Gibbs Smith Women's Voices series: A collection of literary voices written by, and for, extraordinary women—to encourage, challenge, and inspire. Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888) published more than thirty books in her lifetime, but it was her “girls’ story” (written at the request of her publisher), Little Women, that has captured the imagination of millions of readers. This coming-of-age story spotlights beloved tomboy Jo March (arguably America’s first juvenile heroine and a reflection of a young Alcott herself) and Jo’s three sisters—Meg, Beth, and Amy—in a heartwarming family drama. Originally published in two parts, in 1868 and 1869, Little Women has never been out of print. Continue your journey in the Women’s Voices series with Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte (ISBN: 978-1-4236-5099-7), The Feminist Papers, by Mary Wollstonecraft (ISBN: 978-1-4236-5097-3), Hope Is the Thing with Feathers, the complete poems of Emily Dickinson (ISBN: 978-1-4236-5098-0), and The Yellow Wallpaper and Other Writings, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (ISBN: 978-1-4236-5213-7).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an inspiration of a real character that I use to see when I was a young girl, he roams around the county this was an exceptionally long time ago, but the story is not about his life, it is a fiction from the inspiration of him. The story starts on a normal life that eventually leads to a disaster that causes Joe to turn his back on his old life. He woke up in the most wonderful spirits of the day, the sun was glorious, he was so happy but as the day went on it turned into a nightmare, he started the day making planes for the future and now he was in fear and anguish in the cloud of uncertainty not knowing what the future held for him. So, the day continued in darkness, what would come next? he closes the door on the past he says goodbye to his friends although he did not have a lot of friends, not knowing which way he will turn, the first part of the journey is not pleasant, but on his journey. He meets up with a little friend, his little friend is in the same situation as Joe, so he has now met a little friend in need of his help. They continue the journey together both not knowing where they will end up, there are a few problems along the way, but they struggle on together. Joe eventually decides, so they head to their destination with great difficulty along the way, they eventually end up in safe hand, they get help and make newer friend, and somewhere to stay but not without a bad turn on their journey. It was not an easy path, but they end up safe in the end. There is a chance meeting, or should I say a very unusual meeting with an embarrassing situation that brings a lot of happiness to Joe's life, and life for him and his little friend. Joe and Patch lives get better by the day, and there is a turning point in their lives not one that usually happens to everyone and their lives go from better to great, Joe discovers he has family but he has to travel to see them and that is a great adventure for him, his other friend is Molly and she is a real character, she makes the decision to go with Joe so they both go together, but Molly has her own ideas about what she wants to do, when they get there Joe enjoys his stay with his family, but Molly goes to visit her friend and cousin then explores America. It is a very unusual holiday for Molly not one she was expecting, she is a person that has no family to worry about so she just ups and goes any were she desires, but this holiday was a revelation for her, will she ever want to go away again? Toward the end Joe is getting older so is Patch. Joe has a lot of health problems, and he leads a noticeably quiet life with Patch, he has an incredibly good friend but misses Molly very much. There are a few twists and turns, I have tried to make it more exciting further on into the story. Molly is a bit of a character, although she has never had children she is not a lonely person, she was a very intelligent child, that when she got older she had a very good job as a school teacher and she had lots of friend too so she was always occupied, she retired at an early age and always wanted to travel and the opportunity come along when she met Joe to go to America. Joe and Molly become exceptionally good friends throughout the book. Joe was a quit man with just the simple thing in life that mattered to him, but Molly was an extremely ambitious sort of a person that if she wanted to do something no one on earth would stand in her way, I have grown to like Molly very much in this story.

Book How to Be Married

Download or read book How to Be Married written by Jo Piazza and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2018-06-19 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone tells you marriage is hard, but no one tells you what to do about it. At age thirty-four, Jo Piazza got her romantic-comedy ending when she met the man of her dreams on a boat in the Galápagos Islands and was engaged three months later. But before long, Jo found herself riddled with questions. How do you make a marriage work in a world where you no longer need to be married? How does an independent, strong-willed feminist become someone’s partner—all the time? In the tradition of writers such as Nora Ephron and Elizabeth Gilbert, award-winning journalist and nationally bestselling author Jo Piazza writes a provocative memoir of a real first year of marriage that will forever change the way we look at matrimony. A travel editor constantly on the move, Jo journeys to twenty countries on five continents to figure out what modern marriage means. Throughout this stunning, funny, warm, and wise personal narrative, she gleans wisdom from matrilineal tribeswomen, French ladies who lunch, Orthodox Jewish moms, Swedish stay-at-home dads, polygamous warriors, and Dutch prostitutes. Written with refreshing candor, elegant prose, astute reporting, and hilarious insight into the human psyche, How to Be Married offers an honest portrait of an utterly charming couple. When life throws more at them than they ever expected—a terrifying health diagnosis, sick parents to care for, unemployment—they ultimately create a fresh understanding of what it means to be equal partners during the good and bad times. Through their journey, they reveal a framework that will help the rest of us keep our marriages strong, from engagement into the newlywed years and beyond.
