Book Biografia Autorizado de Jesus Maria Jose Y Sus Discipulos Segunda Edic on

Download or read book Biografia Autorizado de Jesus Maria Jose Y Sus Discipulos Segunda Edic on written by Alejandro Cuevas-Sosa and published by Grosvenor House Publishing. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 873 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Trauma and Traumatization in Individual and Collective Dimensions

Download or read book Trauma and Traumatization in Individual and Collective Dimensions written by Eve-Marie Becker and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributors of this volume demonstrate how a highly developed expertise in interpreting Biblical and cognate literature is a substantial part of the overall discourse on the historical, literary, social, political, and religious dimensions of trauma in past and present. This idea is based on the assumption that trauma is not only a modern concept which derives from 20th century psychiatry: It is an ancient phenomenon already which predates modern discourses. Trauma studies will thus profit from how Theology - specifically Biblical exegesis - and the Humanities deal with trauma in terms of religion, history, sociology, and politics.

Book Visions of Struggle in Women s Filmmaking in the Mediterranean

Download or read book Visions of Struggle in Women s Filmmaking in the Mediterranean written by F. Laviosa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-02-01 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This provocative collection elaborates a trans-cultural definition of being a woman in struggle. Looking at the films of women directors in countries in the Mediterranean rim, this book spurs a contemporary discussion of women s human, civil, and social rights while situating feminist arguments on women s identity, roles, psychology and sexuality. Although their methodologies are diverse, these artists are united in their use of cinema as a means of intervention, taking on the role as outspoken and leading advocates for women s problems. Contributors examine the ways in which cinematic art reproduces and structures the discourses of realism and represents Mediterranean women s collective experience of struggle.

Book Women Filmmakers in Mexico

Download or read book Women Filmmakers in Mexico written by Elissa J. Rashkin and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2009-01-27 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women filmmakers in Mexico were rare until the 1980s and 1990s, when women began to direct feature films in unprecedented numbers. Their films have won acclaim at home and abroad, and the filmmakers have become key figures in contemporary Mexican cinema. In this book, Elissa Rashkin documents how and why women filmmakers have achieved these successes, as she explores how the women's movement, film studies programs, governmental film policy, and the transformation of the intellectual sector since the 1960s have all affected women's filmmaking in Mexico. After a historical overview of Mexican women's filmmaking from the 1930s onward, Rashkin focuses on the work of five contemporary directors—Marisa Sistach, Busi Cortés, Guita Schyfter, María Novaro, and Dana Rotberg. Portraying the filmmakers as intellectuals participating in the public life of the nation, Rashkin examines how these directors have addressed questions of national identity through their films, replacing the patriarchal images and stereotypes of the classic Mexican cinema with feminist visions of a democratic and tolerant society.

Book American Salvage

  • Author : Bonnie Jo Campbell
  • Publisher : Wayne State University Press
  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 9780814334126
  • Pages : 184 pages

Download or read book American Salvage written by Bonnie Jo Campbell and published by Wayne State University Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New from award-winning Michigan writer Bonnie Jo Campbell, American Salvage is rich with local color and peopled with rural characters who love and hate extravagantly. They know how to fix cars and washing machines, how to shoot and clean game, and how to cook up methamphetamine, but they have not figured out how to prosper in the twenty-first century. Through the complex inner lives of working-class characters, Campbell illustrates the desperation of post-industrial America, where wildlife, jobs, and whole ways of life go extinct and the people have no choice but to live off what is left behind. The harsh Michigan winter is the backdrop for many of the tales, which are at turns sad, brutal, and oddly funny. One man prepares for the end of the world--scheduled for midnight December 31, 1999--in a pole barn with chickens and survival manuals. An excruciating burn causes a man to transcend his racist and sexist worldview. Another must decide what to do about his meth-addicted wife, who is shooting up on the other side of the bathroom door. A teenaged sharpshooter must devise a revenge that will make her feel whole again. Though her characters are vulnerable, confused, and sometimes angry, they are also resolute. Campbell follows them as they rebuild their lives, continue to hope and dream, and love in the face of loneliness. Fellow Michiganders, fans of short fiction, and general readers will enjoy this poignant and affecting collection of tales.
